Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

gud evenig, Adam and I worked on the tractor all afternoon until just now.. We dragged it a mile down the blacktop road with the FarmalA.. we could not get it to spin over.. either the Oliver's wheels were sliding, or the Farmal was spinning.. At least we know the clutch was working good.

we pulled it back to the garage and decided that we would take the oil pan off and check the main bearings to make sure we put the correct ones in.. Just for sh!ts and giggles we decided to douse the spark plugs with gasoline and try to turn it with the starter, once more for luck.. LO and DEhold,, the motor popped.. just once.. so I tried the starter again and it started.. then it quit..

but it spun like the old Oliver I knew.. I said, WTH ? and Adam held up a can of starting fluid.. As long as we spray the fluid, it ran.. so we deduced that it was not getting gas.. Are you still with me ?? we took the intake manifold and the carburator off and redid all the gaskets with form a gasket.. still no gas, so tomorrow the carb is getting a once over, maybe rebuild it..

Now for some chicken talk,, Annie and I just went out and caught about 20 roosters and put them into the small lean to coop.. a week of cracked corn and next weekend they all will get sent to freezer camp.. Kim wants to see how my chicken plucker works..

the guineas are going into the coop at night,, all on their own.. I guess they don't like the cold night air..

BUT, all in all,, wasn't it a glorious day today ? I just love these dry, warm, fall days..

I put cockatiels and chickens on craig's list today.. I keep getting calls, but nobody shows up.. why do they even call in the first place ? are they just that desperate for someone to talk to ?

have fun at the mini bash.. I would like to be there, but distance and circumstance won't allow it..

Hey all...
Wondering what Adam and Jim are up too, are they getting the tractor started....... ran into some gas flow trouble so I hope that it is now fixed and it's running......because I miss my hubby............LOL I know I better get used to it, seeing as how he is gonna be a full fledged truck driver in a couple weeks, but I hate it when he is gone, its so lonely here at night, especially when the boy isn't home either, No one to bug me to make me do something, good grief it's been years since I have been alone in this house......
Anyway my canner is going with BigZ's V8 juice its pretty good stuff........ I only had red cabbage, so used alittle of that and swiss chard and Kale greens, tasted pretty yummy when I tried it.......... hope its stays that way after the canner treatment, never pressure canned juice before, usually water bath it ........Maybe BigZ can tell us why he uses the pressure canner for this juice?
anyway Ty again for posting that recipe BigZ...........
so anyway will check back later all...............Kim

Well that answers my question doesn't it Jim ya posted same time I did..............LOL I hope ya figure it out tomorrow........Tell Adam I miss him
Yes I wanna see that chicken plucker in action and maybe I'll bring alone my 6 that big enough,,,,,,, then when Adam has time he can build me a plucker too.....hehehe bet he won't be happy about that, but he likes to work on stuff so maybe he won't be too mad at me when I put in my order.............. Night guys.............Kim

Got a surprise cal from a neighbor/friend to come to dinner so I went...fun--we had a fire; perfect weather for sitting around a camp fire. Now chores are done and my finger is really hurting with typing so I guess I will stop and watch the rest of my movie! Popcorn might be in order too.

Gotta hit the hayearly tonight so I get up and make some fried tortillas for tomorrow's bash...I wish BigZ was coming so we could compare salsa...

Nighties all...see some of you tomorrow! TerriOgladjimstractorrepairisalmostovereventhoughsheisfascinatedlol

I have two teenagers cooking poultry in my kitchen; neither one has any concept of food poisoning so they are contaminating every eating surface with raw poultry juices......

I will be bleaching my kitchen when they have finished..... good thing I know how to make bleach.

To add to the mix they are also deep frying..... so my house is going to stink like fried food.

I think I am going to be late to the mini-bash.

good morning, I woke up at 4AM.. I already have had a dose of solitaire, and I found a really good read for carbureter adjustment..

I think Annie has coffee ready,

Lets see... Poor CC and Steve might not make the Mini Bash.:( Ramses is not doing well at all. A trip to the emergency vet today is probably happening. Poor kitty. I hope they can get him fixed up!

Didn't mention this... A few days ago my Lav Orp Roo got left out for the night. (I didn't know it) The next morning I saw tons of feathers near the coop. I thought may be one of the light guineas bit the dust. Then I saw more feathers on the backside of the run. I thought that's a lot of feathers. Then I saw him staring at me accusingly "do you see how many feathers I lost fighting off that scary thing?!" I feel bad now because i was planning on having him butchered. He DID put up a really good fight against whatever it was. I guess he'll earn a stay of execution, for a bit. I have 2 other Roos to get done too. Guess they'll go first. Let the Lav live the good life of wooing and "drilling" a bit longer.

Man I spent forever yesterday cleaning up outside. I made the kids go around with garbage bags too. Funny how they just walk in circles. then I had to do a little coop work for fear peeps will look in there. I'm still coughing up chicken dust I swear! Does anyone ever mist down in their coops to get the dust to settle? The stupid mask thing I wore didn't do a thing to help either.

My Icelandic pullets think its great fun to roost in the shed instead of the coop. The best place to roost as well is on an extension cord that's run up. I throw stuff at them to get them down, but I'm a terrible shot and they just fly over to the club house over the coop. I'm not chasing those dumb things all over. I just need to close the shed door earlier.

I got 6 eggs yesterday.

Have to go take kids to Sunday school, go shopping for Bash items, pick kids up from Sunday school, put together lasagnas, attempt to clean up first floor of house, cook lasagnas, set up coolers and tables for bash, clean in the camper just in case kids go in it... I'm tired already!

Later gators!

Bring your baseball gloves! My 10 yr old is bringing his and would love to play catch.

I am only bringing three kids and of course only 2 of us are ready to leave; me and the youngest...............

CC, you need to come. I hope the vet gives Ramses a magic pill and he recovers quickly.

I better get moving so that I can 'motivate' the troops!

I picked up a Swedish flower hen rooster for one of my friends yesterday and fell in love with one of the other ones available. I think he was the most beautiful rooster I have ever seen. I'm trying to figure out a way to get him into my flock. I have about a dozen roosters of my own to get rid of first, but that guy was a beauty. He had a mahogany color on his back and chest with white lacing, a white head and a tail with white and black feathers. Absolutely stunning!
