Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Good Evening all..........
Productive day today.....you all been chatty..hehehe, glad to see some of our missing flock have returned home...FT and Marg...welcome back you have been missed......
Well we had a productive day around here too, we cleaned the garage, the coop, and the horse stall, I need to get these boys butchered, so I can clean out that stall b4 the snow storms start, because I need to put a horse in there LOL, I don't think she would be too happy to share that stall with 7 roosters under her feet hehehe....... Poor little Lia would have a heart attach when 1 of em jumped up to perch on her back......
I rearranged the coop a bit today moved the 10 foot roost closer to the center of the pen, and farther away from the west window, worried about it being too drafty when the crazy winter winds start blowing there head off...... out here. Mobved 1 large feeder into the barn and out of the stall, seeing as how now they are loose everyday running aroun dthe garage, figured it would give them more room, cleaned the water'r and plugged it in......it had a thin layer of ice on it this morning seemed it was time. Another reason the extra boys need to go, everyday I have to bring in and un-thaw water.......... plus a couple of em are still in the summer A frame on the ground with bedding but still too cold and damp they are sneezing.... plus I have a rat who is digging under that coop and making a Huge mess..argggggggg Gotta get some rat traps......@!!!!!!!! soon.......b4 they get hungry enough to eat my roosters.
My egg production was down a bit today, got 16 yesterday, and only 12 today........ so the weather is starting to effect the laying.

Jim how are the chickies doing from David.....I really need to get them here soon......... thinking they aren't gonna get much for introductions and quarantine time its getting too cold to have a few chickens alone in a pen in my garage.. It's insulated but it gets cold in there it isn't heated and my South horse door is always open to the 12x 16 stall......Its a 8 foot wide door...so lots of air gets in......
.I'm thinking this next weekend will be do or die for butchering, because Adam starts for HOWolding on the 13th and will be gone 2 weeks first off. then who knows when he will get to be home. after that each week. Plus I heard its suppose to warm up a little 50ish this coming weekend...... praying it don't rain..... The boys are getting big and I';ll post some pictures soon have to size em first........so you can see how they have grown...OMG they are bigger than my huge American Bulldog who weighs 110 lbs. he is now the short guy... he was my big guy b4.....LOL..... anyway let me know, Adam asked if ya heard anything about the Ollie? and what was making it not start?

Bog Z congrats on the Anniversary........ many more years to you both............. we are still newlyweds here LOL only 10 years 11 in April......
TerriO sorry about the post........ miss your posts you must be busy, How is Tommie's Cold? Hope he is doing better...... hows the horses? and critters at your place hatches all battened down for winter over there?

CC hello.........
everyone else I missed Hello too, and hope all is well.
So anway gonna size some pictures and be back to post em.......... Later all.........Kim

good evening,, another good Pack attack..

Annie got called into work today, she traded with another gal.. so I got to work on the coop a little after the game.. I have only two pieces of siding to put up in the front gable end.. then I can start wrapping the corners and doorway etc.. then shingle the roof and it will all be done.. I can still slide it around, but it will be about 100 pounds more before I am all done..

It is looking good, if I must say so myself..

Kim, and David,, the hen that was in such a heavy moult died over a week ago.. the rest are all well and still laying eggs.. I have them locked in one of the raised pens.. they are handling the cold nights well.. I have a lot of hay in there to insulate the floor..

No word about Ollie.. I am patiently waiting.. Annie asks me every day about it..I tell her, HeII , I don't know.. when it gets done it gets done..

My brother poked a 4 pointer behind our land , down along the river.. He keeps us in venison from time to time..

Had ho-made chicken and dumpling soup with fresh baked rolls for supper.. Yummmm

Hi All!

DrH. Yep, that lion will stay in the family no matter how much it's worth. Maybe I'll see which of the grand kids likes it best to pass it to when it's time.

vicki... yea, leghorns can be a bit nuts... the one I had you could barely get near. A couple of roosters were 1/2 leghorn and were aggressive. The more time Soup has to "rest" the better. LOL...your BIL is going to need allot of help by the sounds of it.... his hes too!

FT...I know it's hard at times to deal with a deaf dog. Duke not only was blind but didn't hear much either. I don't know how many times I had to go "rescue" him because he got lost in the fenced in yard (OK, an acre and a half.... but still) and he couldn't hear me call him.

BigZ... Congrats on the Anniversary!

GR.... Love the pics!

Humm, Between weather changes, molts, old and injured hens I knew egg count would be down but still thought it was too low. Well, I found a hidden nest... about 30 eggs! I still think they are hiding another one because I haven't seen blue or green eggs for quite while either! Still have to come up with something for the roosters for the winter.... I'm running out of room! If I can get them out of the coop then I can close up the girls for a few days and get them back in the habit of laying in the coop.

Well, guess that's it for now... Night All!

The poor thing, I thought her molt was extra heavy. I imagine the move didn't help her either.

Don't you all hate switching times, I went to bed at the new 10:00 got up at my regular time but it is the new 2:30. The older I get the harder it is.

Have a good day

She is so lonely, getting real tired of the crying all the time. Going to call the vet today and see how much shots and neutering are these days. So much more but need to get some things done before the hearing test appointment. The back says it's time to get back to work. Getting a new back brace while in Rapids this morning. Gotta go!

Ha ha ha ha ha! Doc you sucker! Way to go CC and Cindy... It worked! ;) :D

Happy Anny Bigz! You guys must have gotten married as teenagers because you don't look old enough to be married 40 years!

I forgot to tell you all how special my goats are. They've started laying blue eggs! Imagine my surprise when I found 7 blue eggs in their enclosure. I was like "Wow! I can get milk AND eggs from them? All I need to do is get them to bake bread and I got a meal!!!"

Morning everyone!
really expected it to be colder this am because it was 13o when I went to bed, yuch. However, it was 20 when I got up, got to love the cloud cover.

Huge HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to Bigz and better half

GR~love the pics! I so wish our tiny place had room for a house full of big, bouncy dogs again! Always had lots of critters when my kids were small. I really miss my farm. Oh well, truly grateful for what I have now. Thankful I have a warm home, a loving hubby and I am safe and needing for nothing. (spent most of my life as a single mom) Guess no matter what path your life takes, if you start out a farm girl, your heart remains in the cornfields. I even miss cleaning the barn in the dead of winter. Don't think my kids do tho!!!

Well, the step son listened, sent all the roos but one to freezer camp, put a light in the coop and had to call last night to tell me he got his first egg yesterday. He also figured out his little girls were probably not getting much to eat because he put food and water IN the coop this time and they hopped off the roost and attacked it. This from an otherwise very intelligent man

Oh well, I am sure I will be able to give him some tips and direction when he's up here next week. He's a quick learner and open to instruction. He just needed to realize just how much he didn't know

Got lazy this weekend, just didn't have much get up and go and didn't get my clear tarps up on the run. Now I'm going to have do it in the bitter cold. that will teach me!

Have a great week all.

Yes I am alive in some fashion or another.
Work, hubby, horses and chickens have all been going catawonky for the last several weeks. That and the internet being spotty...

I took in a free horse who desperately needed to be rescued AND to be fed, he is at a friends but needs his stall cleaned, I hand carry water to him 2x a day, feeding and blanket changes, plus specialty feed to help him gain weight.
Getting my hay, helping friends find hay, loading 800 lb big squares with a bobcat, then unloading by hand.
DH's car went dead, either the timing chain OR the engine... lets hope for the chain. I am off to have it towed home very shortly. Then to pull my farm truck out of storage so I can get it registered so DH can drive it to work.
Employees where I work are falling to a virus/cold/plague ( I call it that), and luckily I haven't caught anything.
Joan my dear friend hit a deer with her car about a 1/4 mile from her farm, dragging bambi off the road and having to put him out of
his misery was not fun.

FT- sorry to hear about Auntie, I loved hearing stories about her!
Bigz happy Anniversary to you both!
Hope halloween was good for all, egg nog is out in the stores, and the christmas displays are up.. ACK!!

Well off to the farm to feed and then to meet the guys with the tow truck.. yeah??

I am making it a promise to myself to actually come on, read and post something.

AND I want to share some "before" and "after" pics of Apache the horse I took in.. pls remember its only been two weeks. but
what a difference.

2 weeks later
