Well my girls gave me 4 eggs today. Out of 17 chickens not the best but I'll take it over the zero I had the last few days.
So grateful all this election stuff will be over tomorrow. Been driving myself crazy!

I am rarely on here at this time of the day but we were woken to the phone ringing and my sister letting us know that my Dad was heading to the hospital, not many details at this point. My sister is there with my mom as they wait to see what is going on....... And the rest of us kids are waiting for an update.

Probably not going back to sleep anytime soon

DrH... I'm looking at low cost Spay and Neutering programs through the Humane Society. Hate to say it but you may be able to get a "senior discount"

Because Neil gets Disability we are going that rout and putting them in his name. I may I have a home for the B&W girl, but both the black ones need homes. Moses (the boy we kept from the first litter) likes the little boy and they sleep and play together sometimes. But I told Moses that he's the baby of the house and he can't keep a kitty of his own! LOL He's #5 as it is! The litter boxes (and me) can't handle any more!

Bf4m.... Wow.... you do have talented goats! Feed them the right stuff and maybe they can poop bread!

vivki... sorry, I thought it was the BIL with the chickens...well, glad to see he took your advice and I hope they can bring themselves to enjoy the freezer camp roos!

WCc... Wow... GJ on the horse! She looks like she'll be a nice ride once you get her "built up". How old is she? She looks good.

Hoping all is well.

Well, one of the turkey hens died. Yesterday she was laying in the coop and one of the others was pecking a bit at her head and kind of "pawing" her. Then she got up but seemed a little droopy. She went outside but I had to bring her in at roost time. DH said when he opened up this morning she was dead under the roost. Everyone else looks fine.

She did seem a bit "light" though.
Guess I should go finish dishes.... Night All!

opI have a habit of doing things backwards !!!! I didn't get online last night (Sun) so tonight (actually 2am Tues ) I started reading.... from the last post !!!!! Da.... after reading back three pages I had to stop, I'm tired and going to bed. Big day tomorrow. VOTING DAY EVERYONE !!!! hint hint. I too will be glad when all of these sickening comercials are over !!! Yipee !
Anyway, thanks or all of the welcome home messages !!!

So, wanna hear why i missed a day ???? Ok, call me crazy but we brought something else home. Of course DH ET didn't tell me we needed hay until Sun so I had to call my new hay guy. He wasn't home so after waiting a few hours I called his cousin who had referred me to the new hay guy. Anyway, he said he'd sell me 90 bales (all we can get in trailer and truck) Yes this does lead to my new addition... bear with me.

So..... backing up to Oct 1st when we got hay from this guy (John) for the first time while we were out there he had tons of cats, young cats and several tiny kittens running around. I asked DH ET if I could have one, not really serious but well you know kittens are so cute.
We left without one, good thing I didn't really look them over cause the story gets sad.
Ok back to this Sunday.
So as we were pulling into his place I said to DH ET (dear husband ET (Egg Toast)) "Can I have a kitten today" his repy "NO" Ok, just had to ask.
So we got out of the truck and I saw the older cats but no kittens. I said where are all of the kittens? He said we lost them. I said did they get hit, cause I guess he has that happen, he's on a semi busy road. He said no they just died. This is an older man btw.

Anyway they had one left. A litte girl, tortoise (sp). He said you can have her. I bent down and she came right up to me. I took one look at her and saw her nose and eyes were runny. I said she is sick. He said one of the kittens they just found dead in their bed. (They are barn cats) But I coud tell the older guy did care about them but from the old schoo you know.
So we loaded up the hay (ok well DH ET did while I just watched and carried on a conversation) LOL
Now I know what I should have done because it did enter my mind but it exited as soon as it entered (suppose I shoud shut the back door hey ??)
So as we were getting ready to leave he said so do you want her (I think it was obvious since she was perched on my shoulder like a parrot) LOL
I asked if he was going to take her to the vet ???? He said No,,,,, I looked at DH ET and he said Go ahead !!!! Notice.... I always get his permission (Like I wouldn't do what I wanted anyways) but that way he can't compain !!! LOL
She is mostly black with some torts on her back. One leg has a touch orange. First thing I noticed was one of her ears curls backwards.
She is sneezing all over the place. Goopy green stuff coming out of her eyes and nose. Got onling all last night (is why I didn't get to BYC)
Figured out she had a URI and needs antibiotics for a secondary bacterial infection because it turns into pneumonia in kittens which kills them (poor sibblings)
The vet couldn't get her in today but I kept asking if they could squeeze her in. They said ok 4:20pm..... We got out of the vet's at 6:30pm !!!!!! Guess they were right when they said they were busy !!!
Got blood work done on Dolly as a pre dental cleening ($49) Kitten check ($42) Antibiotics ($29) total $119
Vet said kitten is about 8-9 weeks old. Underweight and a bit stunted. She only weights 1lb 8 oz.
Put her on clavamox and terrimycin for her eyes (which I happen to have)
I decided to call her Halo. She is a little angel.

Will comment on prevous post in another post, if I can remember what I read !!! Night all

Wicook Looks like a nice horse !! Great minds think alike. I'm still waiting to see what the courts are going to do about the neglected horse up here. He is at a "foster" farm for now but I don't think they are giving him anything but hay. Which is of course a lot more they he was getting but he still looks like he could gain a few. But he is 20 yrs old. Will know more at the end of the month.

Doc..... What the Duck did you do to your back ????? Inquiring minds want to know !!! Why don't you just get married ???? Then you won't be doing all that stuff that causes those problems !!! LOL

Jim where are you going on your road trip???? Hope it's not to a doctor ???? Drive safe.. I came within an inch or two of hitting a deer on my way back home. I was so close I could see all of the colors in it's fur.

Well, I'll have to continue catching up somewhat Tuesday. I'm tired and am going to bed. Miss Halo is laying on my chest. She likes to walk on the keyboard ... little Sh!t.....She is an angel now but I'm sure once she is feeling better she is going to be a little hellion !!!

Sorry Cind that I didn't take one of your kittens.... This was a totally unplanned situation and I just couldn't leave it there to die !!

Good White Morning All! Wish it was going to stay that way instead of turning to rain! Hope Jim's trip is uneventful too. Ft good save on the kitten but my god you've got to stop. You'll be living in your car pretty soon. Messed up my back makin wood, have about 3/4 of next years made already. Split all that I had yesterday turned out to be a bad idea. Hurtin unit again even with the new back brace. Not doing anything more than I have to. Cind called the vet yesterday shots $53, neutering $50. Thought that was a pretty good price! Will call the humane soc today and see if they have a program. Won't qualify for a senior discount think it's 62, not there yet. Can honestly say that it's nice only having to do 1 litter box. Sorry to hear about your hen turkey

H&R hope things are OK with your Dad! Keep us posted please! I hate phone calls in the middle of the night it's never good. judge got 4 myself yesterday but with 4 hens moulting I'll take what I can get too. Took 4 Ibu's an hour and a half ago and their not touching the pain. Not going to be good unloading that bag of scratch at Donny's this morning. Then on to drop off some eggs and vote. But first I have to let the monsters out. Release the Crackheads!

Don't worry about Jim ya all he is just probably going Puppy shopping for Dora.......and I think that is what he has to go to the airport for..........he had the pup shipped via air freight....

David I keep forgetting to ask about the chicken that didn't make it at Jims? Was it a Redstar or the SLW and can a severe molt kill a chicken? I never heard of that before, and now I'm worried even more about my Sissy....SS.... and I have 1 that hasn't even started molting yet......a BSL who is still barebacked no head feathers, and no sign of new growth, is that normal? shouldn't she be growing new feathers she is still laying as well........... Can I do anything to help these girls along, forecasting snow here this am, and I'm afraid these 2 are gonna suffer without the extra warm winter feathers......... Anyone know if there's anything I can give them to make this a bit faster process?Seeing as how mother nature is hellbent on winter weather.....

So glad you rescued that horse.Carol, these kind of things make me sick............ poor baby, we have been hurting around here since last Sept, trying to live on 200 bucks a week, for 3 people and 42 critters, there ain't much food in my house but every week I buy food for all my critters and no one is suffering, matter of fact 2 of my horses should actually be put on a diet along with 2 of my dogs and a 20 lb cat........but I look at it this way, animals depend on us to for their care, it is not there fault when bad things happen, and they should not be the ones to suffer for it....... ya do what ya can, and we have basically been living on the salvation army food pantry for us, and the 1/2 cow we bought at tax time, so even if we go without favorite things, and a few necessities my animals surely will not............


You all ain't kidding about being glad this election is almost over.......... my garbage man will be so happy when I can not have to throw out 50# of flyers every week, plus my phone will be happy as well....5 or more calls every darn day......... god these guys are annoying..........

anyway have to go uncover the rooster boys and fill there feeders............. wonder if its possible to throw the 4 older roos in with the 6 younger ones , now that they are closer in size........... I can;t keep these guys out there in the cold much longer.......... and no room in the garage for that long pen......... what ya think all ? will they kill each other........ I had over 20 roos in that stall last year but all were the same age......... mostly they got along...........Hummmmmmmmm have to think........Have a good day everyone.........Kim

Well, we got out and voted already. DH was all antsy to go so we did. We had to wait in line!!! But it is done...

The critters are are well but I have a gimpy SWL. Don't know why so I will have to catch her. That will not be fun as she is flighty as all get out.

DrH and TO- Twain is always called Dwayne or Wayne. What cracks me up are the tellamarketers. He been called, Taiwan and Ta-Wan. He is a junior and his middle name is Clemons. Rumor has it the "The Old Man" (his Granfather) met Mark Twain and liked him so much he named a kid after him. But then someone else in the family says No, The Old Man read a book by Mark Twain and then decided to name a kid after him.
He's only met one other Twain and I actually met a guy named Twain when I worked for the Auto Club back in Cali. Not a common name at all but I like it.

Kristi-Adorable puppy. Is he a Pembroke or Cardigan? Love his name!
