Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hi all--I hear the fam is heading to the hocky game tonight...ah, I can relax all alone...I have had WAY enough family time and I was at work a lot of the day. Weird...I used to miss them so much! LOL!
Sure wish I could go out for a ride...maybe I could if I put on my Carharts! It sure is chilly today for sure...it was 31 in my car...I didnt try the hose and now it is probably refrozen if it ever thawed...guess I should get out there sooner than later and give it a try. My friend Peg did tell me yesterday to haul it in before night...yeah, I didnt listen--like some others I hear of hey?

Can anyone recommend a reptile vet near here (Madison area) I think my tortoise may have an eye infection and I dont really want to take him to the UW because of the last time $284 for a well check! THe only one that comes up for me is in Fort Atkinson and that vet used to work at Jefferson and I didnt like him then! Anybody?????

OK--I am heading out to check the water situation...close up and see what I can do to keep the quail warm...and NO I do not need an Emu! (thank you very much!) I did have one here for a few days....when I worked at the shelter. Does that count? LOL!

Back later when I get bored with my quiet house...TerriOnowboredyet

Can you use Vetericin on tortoises? They do make an eye ointment. My dogs 300+ dollar surgery did not work. His ear is all healed from the incision in his ear and now its filled with fluid again. What a waste of money that was.

Thanks French Toast and Jim for the thermo cube info, will get one tomorrow.
You're welcome. I just went back and read the post from Jim that I didn't see before I posted !!! Weird, we almost said the same thing about Menards !!!!! I was confused too as to why it was in the plumbing department.

TO there is a Vet in Brookfield that used to work or maybe still does on zoo animals and exotics. I brought my parrots to him. I believe his name starts with an M !!! Like I'm sure that works.
There is also a vet in Milwaukee, Dr Frank that does Parrots, he might do turtles. He is in or just north of Milwaukee. Near a mall I remember but don't remember now which one.

The one in Brookfield might be Brookfield Vet clinic. Dr Merrill or something like that. I'll put my thinking cap on....

See my post below. It is Elmbrook Veterinary clinic and his name is Dr Marold and they do treat reptiles. This info was stored one file away from my long term memory so I was close !!! It's been years since I went there. 15-20 years ago.

Terri-O: I heard someone mentioning an old farmer that has used Vertrimycn on his own eye to cure his pink eye and it worked.

He's a nice rooster. I had a silkie/cochin rooster breed one of my orpingtons (not sure if it was a black or lavender) He's big though, almost as big as my full blooded Orpington roosters. I have a couple of bantam cochins, too, that are really sweet.

Oh, and I have to post this guy. I came across this when I was looking for my rooster pictures. He looks so funny when he's sleeping. I was told he was a quarter horse when I bought him but everyone that knows horses and has looked at him says he's part saddlebred. I even had a saddlebred breeder stop by the other day to get a chicken and say "you breed saddlebreds?"

I'm no expert on Saddlebreds, paints or QH's (not that I am on drafts either but that is what i have) but my neighbors horses are saddlebreds and saddlebred/Arabians and I can see a similarity. They moved them over to their property next to my hay field. I'll try to get a pictue of them. Nice looking horses.
