Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Evening all! Goat people- quick question. Should I be feeding my little fainting goats corn? Right now I am feeding them the same as I feed my mini horse which is baled hay and baled grasses from the marsh. If so is it ok to give them corn silage or do i need to buy corn? Thanks!
goats are basically fed like cattle.. the silage is ok for them,, they will pick out whatever they want to eat and leave the rest.. sort of watch what the do pick out.. then you will know what they like.. they won't just scoop it in like a cow does..

contrary to popular belief ,, goats are very picky eaters.. they have to be half starved to eat hay off the dirty floor..

DrH, purdy roo and I believe you have answered my question as far as the orange/white streaked roo I tried to describe...Looks alot like that one..maybe crossed with old english as the others suggested.

However, this one I kept doesn't look a lot like that and noone seems to have a guess what it is....do you?
Pretty roo.. I have a few that look like that. Mine are Pure Cornish hen and NH-Star Roo. I will post a few pics later today to see if you think they look close.

I would have guessed White Rock except for the purple ? legs ?? he also looks like a Delaware , except no black neck or tail feathers.. or not too likely, a very heavy Leghorn.. again the colored legs defeat that.. prolly a cross .. Like I said, I am not much for identifying breeds..

good morning everyone!

ok, soooooooooo, did I ever mention that my grandmother met my Irish grandfather(who came over on a boat from county Cork Ireland to work with his father in the logging camps of northern WI) when her mother brought her and her 8 siblings north to work as a cook in the logging camps from,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,KENTUCKY????????????????????

Hi Judge- Not sure about the silage. We our Fainters Sweet 16 from Farm and Fleet and mix in cracked corn, along with hay of course. I think the silage would be okay. Fainters are fun, aren't they?

Hi Wisconsinites! I'm in the Stillwater/Lake Elmo area - just over the river. Am seriously looking into getting started in this crazy hobby! I would love to connect with some folks in the area to visit and see how things should be done - in order to start off well. Any connections would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

Like Jerry Clower always said, You can raise dogs on lettuce if you don't try hard enough, LOL.

Thanks Delish and Jim for the edumacated guesses, from you two I'd take it as fact as much as anyone's when guessing mixes : )

I don't have that book someone was asking about. Sorry, I'm new and I can only remember people a little at a time....I also can't go back and look at posts without loosing what I've already typed.....but every week I seem to get another name or two down. : )

It just struck me, I wonder if putting that lil smiley thing : ) had anything to do with David thinking I was a girl : 0.

Speaking of books, I've been wanting to get a copy of the Morton Salt meat curing process book. I'd borrow or buy it maybe if anyone had one.....Worst case, I could buy the new one and compare it to the old one if someone had an old copy I could borrow. I just think older is better and I don't want the new one without being able to see what, if anything changed.

I'm gonna find all my cat papers in my files in the building today after work and get some in stone plans going on these kittens this weekend for those interested........Everyone have a great day.

I knew I forgot something and had to log back on and all.....

TerriO- I hope you only bought stuff at the grocery store from 2 of the 4 food groups...Cause if you have a freezer or not, meat and dairy should be covered for you. LOL

The only thing I didn't notice was beef, I mean bovine..er, uh cows...which btw is why I logged back on. Craigslist, either eau claire or wausau (MAybe madison) had $800 for 90+ small bales of hay but you have to take the 3-4 calves and some more stuff that come with it.....I think if you search '90+' they had written it just like that....just sayin', if I was set up better than 3 year Army tours seem to allow, I'd get that deal, butcher the cows and have the hay and extra equipment. I know it's a long shot but i saw it and that's what I'd do if I could.

Or who was it looking for hay?

Oh and about that $20 bucks and 3 roos, how far do you deliver? ChrisGottaLearnHowToDoThoseLilCharactersToPutOneLaughingHilariouslyHere
