Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

nice looking horse..  You can name it Ickabod..   I never thought I would ever see the headless horseman..
can you find enough hay for all your horses ?

Yah my Hay guy has 400 bales for me but with an extra mouth to feed it may not last me into the new growing season....especially if spring is late this next year....will have to keep my eyes out for some extra..I think I'm gonna buy some round bales to supplement, because then I can also go out with Adam on a run or 2 because no one needs to do anything with them except fill water every 3 days, and add a new bale every 3 or 5, depends on how much they eat with an extra horse...before a round bale lasted a week for a 1200 bale........but I have a hard time finding horse quality rounds..most are nasty because the idiots feed nice moldy hay to their cows and I can't feed that to the horses......... next year I'm also gonna have to add some extra field to my place as well, what we have 3 acres will not be enough for 4 horses....so will rent an extra field and run fence, hopefully in the spring after the farmer plows up that darn corn stubble......we can get it planted..... I can rent as much as I want, but 75.00 an acre per year.......theirs a 40 acre field behind me that my Neighbor rents to the farmer, farmer won't be happy about me taking away his corn field...but oh well he already has 100's of acres I'm sure he wont miss 2........

Looks to be around 4" here. I see the east and west side got the worst of it. Cindy Toby is the Bad A.. and Kissy is the adventerous one. She likes to get up high. Like this morning she thought it would be fun to sit on top of my head. Fun for her not for me.

Taz is now chasing and being the chased.

Loved the good morning roo! cs I've learned that I tend to glaze over things when house hunting but have gotten better. Take a darn good look at EVERYTHING important! Snooze good one on the "happier than" Yup Jim I'm gonna be happier than today! Just enough out there to have to back drag it with the bucket. At least the end of the drive, back door. and coop.

Congrats on the 10lbs! And that's the bad thing about knowing how to do things I just cringe when Bryan says he's going to do something. Casie it never fails to make me laugh when a new roo learns to crow.

TO sooo glad your finally getting your chimney fixed! Your gonna love it! Something about snow for MLH

GR hope you get that field for hay! Do you have the equipment to work it? Oh I remember MLH slammin on the brakes. Think I'll be mean and plow in front of the coop and put their scratch there.

Better go clean off the Jeep for L to take today, Lookin a little slow on the road.

I'd like to start off saying good morning to all! And that I am jealous that all of you have snow, we just got some frozen rain

No preference toward either the Pack or the Bears, just love football (and other contact sports), but I love hearing all of you chatter about it!

Glad that there is a functional warming device (chimney) in your house now TO.

Regarding the thorough inspection on the house...we have submitted a lengthy list of questions inquiring on the age of everything in, on, and around the house/barns that would ever need replacing, pumping, or fixing. This way we have an idea of what expenses we can expect within the first few years of moving into the house (if we actually get it). Past that, I have no idea whether this will actually go through. We cannot afford the down payment on our own and need my dad to be on board (considering that he is moving in with us and all). IF he agrees, then the house is still a short sale and you never know with those! Anyway, I am trying not to get too excited (but it's hard when your dream are staring at you).

On the Christmas tree topic, I am all for the traditional tree with some home-made ornaments, multi-colored lights, etc. My kids haven't asked yet to decorate the tree in a theme, but I can only imagine what it would look like.......

good morning,, just on my first cuppa.. I hate it when I get done reading before my cuppa is gone.. because then I start typing and the rest of it gets cold in the cup..

I do have a stove in the garage, but only in the shop half.. and the shop is so cluttered up, I wouldn't dare light a fire in the stove..

I dread going out to work in the cold,,,, but once I get out there, it usually doesn't feel that bad.. It compares to jumping into the water the first time when you go swimming..

I saw a huge bird fly past the kitchen window this AM.. I THINK it was a peacock,, but it didn't look that big.. maybe a peahen ?? hawk ?? IDK

wood burning can be inexpensive ,, if you keep your eyes open.. there is a lot of free wood, if you have a way to haul it.. One or two winters, I went down along the river and dragged out trees that had washed down stream or maybe just fell over from old age.. don't make sthe same mistake I did, though.. I dragged them up to the house across a frozen plowed field.. the sand played heII with my chainsaw..

I have a buzz saw on my Farmal A.. that is the way to go as long as you can get the logs up onto the table.. I used to buy semi loads of slab wood from a place over near Wi Rapids.. mostly oak .. Kelp ,, or Karp,, industries ?? I forgot the name..

OK, now I am just rambling.. I'll take a break and let somebody else take over..

Would you all be so kind as to say an extra prayer for my nephew today? He was in a snowmobile accident last night and is in the hospital. Came over a hill and hit a tree head on- one ski on each side of the tree trunk. He had surgery last night to put a rod in his femur, and also broke his tibia. Poor boy- only 20. Was supposed to head back to college last night but decided to take a ride with a few of his friends. Thank God for cell phones he was able to call my BIL. They couldn't find him at first... He was crying of course but they reminded him how lucky he is. Long recovery, and wake up call for all us for sure.
Thanks guys!

Hi,
I'm still new to this and I figured since I made a great meal I figured I'd share the idea of cooking

.
Pheasant roulade with Red wine sauce and sautéed mushroom bacon Brussels sprouts.
I know this isn't chicken but pheasant. but it could have been easily been chicken. Also I did use my fresh eggs my girls have been laying to help bind the roulade together. Hopes every ones Saturdays supper is great!
That looks amazing! Welcome!

Good luck to him in his recovery. He really is lucky. Could have been ALOT worse!

Good morning! Long time again. I hate to always pop in with questions but that is usually all I have time for!
Has anyone raised pheasants? We want to raise some for dog training, I can't seem to figure out where to look to find out if you need a permit for that? I am thinking we will do 30 if numbers matter at all. Oconto County if that matters,

there is a large pheasant pharm a phew miles East of Wausau on hwy "N".. It seems to me that they had "game pharm" signs on their phences..

they are not the easiest birds to raise as a phlock.. I suppose only 30 or so wouldn't be so bad.. they have a tendancy to peck at each other.. but that might be phrom over crowding..

somebody on here has a pheasant,, I phorget who..

sorry too easy,, I just couldn't resist...

There are a few Pheasant farms outside of Nelsonville. All of the birds are kept in completely covered runs and they all get blinders put on them. For cover, the runs have corn planted in them. Interesting set-ups, I suppose you could build a mini version of these runs. I have no idea how they get water or the feed to all of those birds either, the runs look too short for a person to walk through comfortably.
