Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I have that exact coop. It is VERY flimsy. Very shoddy workmanship. If you want to move it around to get fresh grass underneath, it's pretty heavy, and splinters easily.
Isn't that the one that the raccoon ripped opened like it was cardboard? Just something to think about.

Sorry to bring that back up, Heather.

Quote: I thought the same thing about moving it.. You would have to set it on a very level surface in order to keep the roof line straight.. I don't think it is meant to be a chicken tractor..

I also did not know you had to assemble it yourself..

as for me, if I were spending that much money, I would just as soon build it from scratch to my own plans..

If you are talking about cedar, I understand the splinter hazard.. the longest splinter I ever had in me was cedar.. went deep into the meaty part of the palm of my hand where the thumb muscle is.. over 1 1/2 inches long buried out of sight.. I had to cut some of the meat so that I could get my pliers onto it.. I also had one go completely through my middle finger right through the second joint between the bones.. It was so tight I couldn't pull it out.. had to go to my dad's house and he got ahold of it with a pliers and pulled it for me..

Jim, you are KILLING me! I would take your Sebbies in a heartbeat if I could..

So funny for you to mention Brokaw, we used to sell them our bleach.

13 is 13, some are more responsible than others. Sometimes with diabetes your judgement is altered. Not saying that this is the case, but at 13 you still need reminding. I understand the whole take responsibility angle as well, I have had to do it with my own daughter. I was still asking her if she was taking her medicine at 13 though..... much to her annoyance but it was too important for her to miss.

I have a co-worker who is building coops for Tyler's web site. Purely Poultry.

I am so happy to be home tonight...... and snuggling with my babies watching tv.

I cannot fathom the pain those parents are going through.......

Not planning on moving it about, just want it to hold a trio of birds, so it'll work. I don't have the time and my hubby doesn't have the skill to build them, so it's worth it to me. Can reinforce it as needed. ...and hot wires work nicely, too.

what I found for building fences, lean to coops and whatever... cyclone fence as the base wire.. then add chicken wire near the bottom so that small animals and chicks cannot fit through.. I think a bear could go through if he felt like working at it.. but not coons foxes wolves or coyotes.

I bought several four foot high rolls from a guy who gave up penning up deer.. all of my fences are made from cyclone wire.. and it will last your lifetime and more.. I learned how to "weave" the wire to splice one roll to the next.. or remove a wire to shorten a section..

I built one fence with short sections that fit between the posts.. I will take pictures when I remember to do it..

Hi all...just got back from Mariachi (the Mexican restaurant in town) with my son. We had a good dinner and nice conversation also. Dont get to spend too much one on one time with him.

I will look for some pics ODrH. Didnt get any duck eggs today. They all will start laying very soon and then I will be picking up tons of them. Of course now that there may be a person interested in the eggs...
You asked for it...I had a bunch in my album already so this was easy! As usual, click to enlarge.

Mine love to swim when I refresh the pools. There are a couple that stay at the pond all the time too. I have a really nice looking black drake that has a white ring around his neck. Thinking about pairing him off. DOnt know how I got black...I started with all white, then a blue then a chocolate pied. Their genetics must be variable...maybe since I have had them so long they are reverting back to their natural wild black color?
Man I am really tired...I need to go to bed. Kim that sure is a pretty blue truck that Adam has! He looks proud too. Soon he will be earning some $$$ and you guys can get back on your feet!

Winkflash is having a sale on their canvas prints, 60% off! So I got a huge canvas made of this picture from our trip to Alaska. I've been to Hawaii, the east coast, down south, the carribean . . . nothing compares to the beauty of Alaska!

Terri..you seen my ducks..they all look white but throw all colors. I think its the lavender drake that does it.

My Muscovys love the water and even today they went swimming. They like to at least take a dip every day. When they are young they stay in the water all day long.
