Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Is anyone else suffering from pressure headaches today or yesterday? Agh! I want to go back to sleep.
Yes. I had them yesterday & the day before in my sinuses.

Ghost, it gets better. Chin up, lady. It could be a lot worse.

Ang, I agree with everyone else on not feeling bad about getting on someone's case. These days, noone will even do their job unless you rip them a new one first. Makes me ill! Sometimes I think our species is devolving.

DrH, you had me ROTFL at the lurking Tom comment.

Terri, those kitties in that pic of your DS look just like Ramses!

Can't remember much else. I crammed in 6 pages & now CRS. Oh yeah. Thanks for that lovely mental image of the gigantic mother of all splinters, Jim. Can't wait for REM sleep to kick in tonight. Yee-ouch!

Ramses is still with us but is getting so darn skinny looking. His kidney issue has really taken a toll on his appetite.

DH did tell me that he thinks his time is coming real fast so tomorrow might not be too great a day. I am very thankful that he has come to terms with all of this, though, not that it'll make it any easier. Thanks so much for all of your support over the past months. DrH is right; you're all a bunch of great people!

I have a white hen with a splash of black on her crest and she throws blue- splash and black The other pair of ducks are her kids. They are really big birds. The ducklng's dress out really nice and big. This last batch that is going in on Thursday are white with a few splashes of black on the head. they will dress out nice too. I sell the ducks at 7 mile fair for 20. Dressed out 25, so they do pretty good.

i hope mine do not start laying till end of February, they need the rest. The hens layed three big nests last year. I have put the weight back on them but I was really worried this last batch. This was the first year I let them hatch out and I sold the chicks right after hatch. They back to back layed another nest. Ugh. Poor birds..never again.

Hi All!

DrH.... Glad Kissy and Toby are doing their jobs!

Are they behaving for L too?

CS.... I've done the "jammie run" with the garbage more than once myself!

My head hasn't been as bad as my back and hips, I tend to feel weather bad in those.

ODrH.... That coop looks nice for the price.... hope it works for you.

GR... DH looks happy with his truck! Hope he gets some good runs!

BBP.... That would make a beautiful Print... How big are you going to get it?

CC...

Well, that's it .... night all!

good morning,, been lurking since 5 AM .. all cuppa'd up already.. thinking of turning the birds loose as soon as it gets a little lighter outside..

waiting to see of it is snow or rain here before I start anything on the tractor..

I have to take the carb off to get the choke cable loose.. the carb is designed to go onto the right side of an engine.. mine is on the left.. a designer glitch . for sure..

one more game of free cell and then if nobody is on here I am off to meet the world head on..

Not planning on moving it about, just want it to hold a trio of birds, so it'll work. I don't have the time and my hubby doesn't have the skill to build them, so it's worth it to me. Can reinforce it as needed. ...and hot wires work nicely, too.
Didn't want to dissuade you. Just wanted you to know you will want to make modifications. Yes, a raccoon did rip up the boards covering the nest box. It squeezed in there and ripped apart my birds. We added shingles to the coop so we could protect that from happening again. The protective wire should be replaced with hardware cloth. The price isn't bad at $150. I paid $300 for mine. Then we did more to it.

(yes Jim, dumb i know) We finally ended up putting the back half on a pallet with wheels. Cut the front off so it was light enough to carry and move. We have also put up a larger movable run for more space because the run is very tiny. The concern with the tiny run and grass was not a problem when the birds in it free range. But then I moved silkies in, and the free ranging stopped because I was told they cant see well enough to free range, and get lost easily.

I think it would be just fine for what you want it for with some raccoon modifications.

Good Morning Everybody! CC so so sorry to hear of Ramses decline.

thanks for the pm too. Jim thought the same thing about the key. Man your old!

Was thinking many years ago about why they still make church keys?
idunno.gif
I've seen cables that get pinched at the end when they cut the coiled sheathing? Or a kink in the internal wire. That sucks about having to pull the carb to take it off! Engineers

Lots of ducks pics! My aunt used to say that muscovies were the ugliest ducks ever. Neat pic BBP! GR sometime when I go through my pics I'll find a pic of me and my Freightshaker think it was taken in Mo. Raining lightly here now would rather have snow! It's going to make a real mess. Cindy they don't behave for anyone!

But they are learning the word NO but the forget quickly. But they make up for it by licking my nose and being cuddle bugs. Their so cute when their asleep. I seem to lose all favor when L has the heating pad for some reason. Chickens a doing good got 4 eggs yesterday, keeps us and others in eggs. A guy I used to work with that I give eggs to said he's getting 4 hens in the spring. Lives in town, they can have 4. Told him when he does to call and I'd set him up with feeders and waterers and chicks if wants them. he he he. He'll be an outlaw soon. Pannycakes comin up. Forgot to mention cedar and treated lumber slivers are the WORST! In the metal catagory it's SS!

No worries, don't think tone ever comes through on a post. Not mad or ungrateful, thank you for the warnings and I will take precautions. So far, raccoons are the one predator, surprisingly, that has not gotten bold enough to come up to the house for chicken dinner. I generally have a dog around/about, so given my location I've had surprisingly few actual problems. A skunk and a possum met their waterloo, a couple of owl attacks. However, I have SEEN about every predator on my property that I could imagine...weasels/mink, raccoon, fox, coyote, opossum, skunks, hawks, owls, dogs, cats...that's why I do keep my coops up by the house other than the juvenile shed, that is fully enclosed. The coops I reinforce and cover, but seems the proximity to the house and being out in the open away from the woods out back lends a little protection as well. Free ranging, they all come home now that I have mostly IBs. My Ameraucanas were predator bait on free range, however.

Morning all. I really wish I could not that estate sale today. Do any of you let your chickens out in the rain
My chickens last year would stand in the rain like they had not noticed that it was raining. Then it snowed and they were all too delicate to step foot on the snow. I shoveled a path around the run and to the water. Not one footprint off the path all winter.
