Hi just wondering on what you are looking for in your swap?
I play a little on the Paypal/Hatching Egg swap thread, so the list is just a record of what eggs I have available when swapping.

Hi just wondering on what you are looking for in your swap?
Did you try the recipe I posted? Just wondering if it turned out like it says? Do you think it was recipe or just the chickens being too picky before I try itHello everyone, Happy New year! Wow, I don't check for a while and I am suddenly 10 pages behind!!! Not even going to try to make too many comments cause I would probably get things all wrong so I am just going to say that I am sorry for the losses, jealous of all the NYD hatchers , and hang in there Dr H. Oh, I tried making the chicken chick's flock block and my spoiled girls wouldn't eat it, so I wound up feeding it to the wild things.![]()
those of you who thought my little 19 week old mutt pullet was a "she" you were right! I have 3 hens and 1 pullet, right? In the last 12 hours I have collected 5 eggs! 3 normal and 1 little one in the catch box under the roost and another little one, still warm, in the greenhouse next to a rather surprised looking new HEN who I had to pick up to get her to leave her egg and go into the coop for supper.another silly hen. sure hope her eggs get bigger. Ok, SHE
is a white hen with a slight smattering of black feathers and black spots on her yellow legs. She was hatched from a deep brown egg and lays very small (at least right now anyway) eggs even though she is just slightly smaller than my Black Stars. Her egg isn't white either. So far it's a very pale tan???? I'll supply an updated pic if it stops snowing before the temps tank again (supposed to be single digit highs by later in the week
). I have NO clue what her mix might be, any guesses? Daddy has to be either a (possible) white leghorn or a roo that looks an awful lot to my untrained eye like a Lackenvelder. As far as the neighbor I got the egg from knows, the only brown egg layers she is sure she has are sunnyside blacks but she has quite a mix and really has no idea who is laying what since hers free range and she finds eggs everywhere. (She has seen how nice and controlled my set up is and plans to build a nice "yard" for hers in the spring. Anyway, I will be posting pics of her so all you much more knowledgeable folks can take a look.![]()
Now I am exhausted and close to my bedtime. Have to be sharp tomorrow so I can finish up the project I started today, (would have finished but had to make a run to HomeDepot) rewiring our phone system before the satellite guy shows up on Monday to install our dvr upgrade that will connect my internet, TV and computer together. This thing is supposed to be able to record 5 shows at once, etc. etc. etc. and we were able to play the "but we have been very loyal customers" card (and a little finangling) and got the DVR and install for free. All we had to pay for was the internet conversion box!![]()
I needed this to push me to finish the line upgrade I actually started last fall when I buried the new line from the network conversion box that is next to our garage over to the house. The current connections were a jerry rig under the house I did with the wrong wire, splitters everywhere etc. that was supposed to just be a temporary fix to get us up and connected while we took care of more important stuff in the new place.Anyone else know how that goes? Anyway, my DSL has been getting worse and worse (not to mention the phone) and I know it's probably because my "temporary" rig has probably been chewed on by several generations of field mice and chipmunks by now.
So if I'm not on again for awhile you know my "upgrade" didn't go very well.
Goodnight everyone
Hmmm, do you want to be fumbling around in the cold putting the battery back in or unwrapping the truck/hood, etc? If you can run an extension cord out for a heater or light, could you instead hook a battery charger/maintainer up to it instead? They say right on them that they keep the battery warm as it is charging, and they are only in the $20-30 price range.Okay I need some advice.
We are in for some colder weather here this upcoming week, with 0 to -5 or more and maybe more with a wind chill.
I have my little truck I am driving daily but we don't have a car port OR a garage.
My thoughts are two fold, bring the battery in to keep it warm. OR put an under tank heater OR a clamp light under the hood of the truck, tuck a horse blanket
around the hood and then cover the whole vehicle with a car cover.
Ideas? thoughts? Yes I know I am bat $*** crazy... I own chickens!!
LOL
