Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Wow Hurley...that is an awesome collection of wins! Lucky chickens mama!
Cld out there. Just went out to check on everyone and the funny thing is the that the silkies are the ones that are running around and my large fowl are sitting on the ramp and inside. Put out some suet feeders for the chickens.figure it can't hurt them with the exta fat. They looked Leary but I am sure someone will dig in. Well pot roast in th over, better go check on it

Took the youngest out for a hike in the snow (bundled him up solid, he had a hard time getting up if he fell, lol) and he had fun tromping around. Got to slide down our little hill a few times, which was great fun, until the last run where he face planted royally in a drift. Offended....big time. Got him all brushed off, but he was done, lol, went inside, and he instantly went down for a nap. Wore out his circuits, apparently. Still snoozing, in fact.

Chilly today, but pretty out. Nice to have the day off. Back to work tomorrow.

6 new chickies all active and investigating their aquaribrooder. Have missed the sound of peeping.

awwww chookchook~she is so sweet and you are such a good mom. Bet there is something about the smell of the pillow. Angiebubs (and TerriO)~yep, I am soooo glad I have the greenhouse but who would have guessed it would have worked out so well with the girls! I just came in from letting them in there to play for a bit. Had to wait til the temps got up to 20o (the windchill is horrible-in the single digits) but the sun popped out just long enough to warm the greenhouse up to 40o so out the pophole and running for the greenhouse they went :clap . With the temps dropping I can't let them play too long today because I am going to have to turn the heater on in the coop but it looks like it is going to be bitter for the next couple days so I just had to let them out to play for a least a little while. Terri~I wish I could get to the Domes but I do go to local greenhouses when I can in January for the same reason!!! Had my new Jung's catalog out this morning dreaming of spring, sigh. Dr HaHa~ GREAT NEWS!!!!! now you can at least snuggle in the New Year!!! Welcome back Frenchie!!! wow, good thing you are coming home before this bitter cold really hits. I would worry sick about my critters. Here is a pic for all you horsey lovers; This gorgeous beast from Turkey has been declared the most beautiful horse in the world!!! Hope everyone has a safe evening and a great New Year!!! Oh, and there better be LOTS of pics of the NYhatch :pop .........vickistillsittinherewaitingat12:30forthesatelliteguywhowassupposedtocomebetween8and12.............................
Ok I have seen lots of beautiful horses in my 47 years, but this is not Beauti, this is an ugly giraffe................... never seen an uglier horse, nice color yes...... body type sucks, and way too skinny................. looks half of something else besides horse, legs are too long balance is not good, croop is high or withers are low, barrel is too long in proportion to the back, makes him look gangly, nice hip, but long upright fetlocks, no spring in that step.... seem almost unreal, it does appear to be more statue than animal, or a frank en horse who was put together in pieces.............. for comparison this is a saddle bred stallion with much better muscling, conformation, and my opinion beauti..........
700
Sorry just my opinion........Kim Ok I checked out the libnk after I posted the gray second horse on the page has much better look than this ugly one, much better balance and overall appearance as well, guess I should a found a like horse for comparison, but the saddle bred was the closet picture I had at hand at the time of post. anyway can ya tell I'm a bit cranky............ its been a long holiday and a long year, and I'm about ready to bury myself in a whole and just disappear.............. I hate my life, I hate my luck.......well lack there of, and I hate our friggen crooked government, and there crap,.............. argggggggggggg See DrH I complain all the time, so go ahead and do what ya need to do to vent it off, I certainly do not mind and for some of us, this board and its wonderful people, are all we have to complain too....... helps us get by without quite so much stress. I have been lurking today I haven't been on in a while according to the `175 posts I just went thru, happy New Year ya all......I hope it turns into a better year than this last one, cuz seeing as how today is January1 it isn't boding well.......... for me anyway...... but hoping good things for everyone else........... Theres too much to explain now, but anyway for a quick over view, we couldn't get Adams kids for Xmas, the X is a nasty whale.......... my X pulled something, cuz I got a notice for the IRS that we owe them 1300 dollars for unreported income??????? sure wish I had that 5000 they are claiming we had........ we could have eaten something besides Salvation army handouts........or nothing. Or maybe we wouldn't be so far behind just now, seeing as how Adams last 3 checks have been less than unemployment, by a good measure.............. or maybe I would not have had to borrow from just about everyone I know, which still is not paid back..... Can't wait to hear there crap tomorrow if I can get ahold of anyone, the government ya know, is probably still on break......... seeing as how its only the 2nd of Jan. .probably another holiday.......... lord knows they get as many as they want........ arggggggggg so discussed can't even go on........... anyone on here a tax attorney I think I feel another bullshittte bill coming my way.................Kim

When locking up the coop tonight my faverolles beard had frozen icicles hanging on her beard. Poor thing, brought her inside quick to dry her off and remove the ice then back outside. I had temporarily unplugged their heated water dish to put up a heat lamp today-mistake! First, noone hung out by the heat lamp, and second, the water was slushy all day-causing the icicles on "Elsies" beard and muff.

DO any of you run into issues with the water from drinking, freezing on the feathers or roo wattles?

Good evening! Just got back from my friends' house; watched the first half of the Rose bowl. Now Chores are done and I am relaxing...AAHHHHH!
Judge; those Ameraucanas are funny things. If they were going through a molt and had light where they were then they probably would have continued laying IF you also gave them supplemental light. It starts getting short at the end of September (I think) so by the time they were comfortable with your set up they probably were done for the year. They should be starting up any time. Mine that dont have extra light just started up last week--well 2 of the 5 anyhow! THe A's with light have continued to lay throughout the winter. I hope you and your fam had a good Christmas party today!
Better watch out kjg...in Milwaukee somewhere some one had a calf in the basement and they got arrested!

I wont tell if you dont though...we have been known to have a "few" critters in our basement too!
AWWW Vicki! I would have loved to see you carrying all you girls to their supper! I thought you were going to say that you left them in the greenhouse for the night. That 45* sounds mighty fine about now!
ODrH---I used to love bundling up the little ones and getting them outside to wear them out some! Nothing like a bit of fresh air hey? Cool that you are winning the contests! I stayed away this year...never did repair my bator bottoms after they were snacked on by the birds! I am not missing little birds in my house however!
Sorry about your continued back luck Kim! Maybe you need a few more days of the New Year to get into your rhythm? I hope so!

I agree with you about that horse. The color is certainly neat but I think it wouldnt last a winter here! Step on one frozen hillock of mud and it would have a broken leg! Very wasp-waisted too and no depth of chest therefore not too mush stamina....I could go on! Color sure isnt everything for sure! Nice SB that you posted...
Ang--I have had a few lately that have had some ice on their wattles--looks like some might have frozen a bit. They seem to recover OK though. Never had icicles though!
Sure wish I had the $$ for that set up Cass! Looks good and ready to go...so who's buying it?

I feel pretty darn tired all of a sudden. I had my neighbor come today and bring 10 roosters. I contributed 3 and the man took them all. THen we caught 5 ducks for him and his wife said she wanted more...caught another 3! SO I got rid of more birds! I would have liked to be able to sell 10 of MY roos but I really didnt have what he wanted. I did let him have the two red and one black from this July...they were Phoenix crosses and he really liked them. Very pretty roos. SO I am sold out for the season (FINALLY) The only think I have left of quail and the way they are dropping I wont have too many left for spring! Anyone know how long they live? I had two Bobs dead this morning and I thought they were indigenous to this area? So the winter shouldnt bother them right? My Cots are doing fine outside...might have to do some moving around. I am iin a conundrum about the meaties. They are not growing as fst as I thought they would because of the cold so they wont be ready to butcher next week...then I am gone for a weekend and I really doubt if DH will be able to handle feeding them fermented and also do all the rest of the chores. I sure wish DD20 could be here for the weekend! SHe is getting her wisdom teeth out though! A problem for sure...I am betting that I will have to come home from my weekend "away" to do the chores. SOmetimes animals are sure a pain in the *****!
OK--other stuff to read still...talk to you tomorrow! I need popcorn!

Oh, man...wish it wasn't this time of year. I could do some serious damage with that setup. Drool.

I only have three out and now and additional three pips..these guys are taking a long time. Almost 12 hours from pip to zip for the first three. My shipped eggs have no activity at all :( I am pretty worried.
