BF4~ Ouch!

that's one nasty copay! Hope you don't mind if I add you to my prayer list about that. I am jealous you are being able to lose med related weight. I was doing great losing weight (of course I didn't know it was because of the heart issue
tongue.png
) Since they changed my meds I've gained nearly 15 lbs! Eating like a pig thru the holidays had nothing to do with it of course
roll.png
. Still can't do much in the way of exercise but at least I think I put the stops on the gain. Now I have to figure out how to get back on the losing track (never been one of the toothpicks to begin with). Got a freezer full of diet dinners for starters. Delisha~ After a full day of research and narrowing down my choices, you sold me!!! I like everything about the GLW's and think they would be a perfect fit with my setup and girls. Please take a look at the "full" description of the GLW's on the PurelyPoultry.com site and let me know what you think. Sounds like his breeder is putting out some good (if not show quality) birds. I've sent him a note to find out if I can pick up the chicks although $20 on the shipping for 12 isn't bad either. I don't need more than 2 or 3 but I think my neighbor might take some if they all do well. Speaking of my girls, it's 18o and flurries today so I didn't let the girls out til this afternoon to go play in the greenhouse for awhile. (surprisingly it was still 30o in there even tho there was no sunshine). I got busy and had forgotten about their dinner until my hubby drew my attention to the fact I had 4 hens standing as tight as they could get to the back door looking up at the window!!!

I really didn't think they would come out of the greenhouse so I didn't bother to close the gate across the steps to the porch. Does anyone else have chooks that can tell time???
D.gif
I quick put their warm mash together and off we go to the coop with my hubby in the window saying he wanted to watch the parade

. Just one more example of who has trained whom.

Prayers are super ultra appreciated! I know that things will turn out well, but its a long road of potholes to get there...

Quote: I have one training cage..Right now I put them in for a few minutes. I increase time as I get closer. Eventually they will be in all day.
I have only pulled one feather and that was a bent one that would have been horrible looking if I left it. I try to make sure the birds are placed in an indoor run with no means to be injured, dirty, or feathers messed up before the show and .. during conditioning. Right now I want them exercising and playing and hunting. Building muscle being a free range chicken as much as possible. They need to feel like a free range over abundant food source with good muscle and low fat, but look like they lived the life of luxury.

Vicki,

I think you should pick them up..

Maybe pick up a few extra for me. I wish he would give names and number so you could contact the source and ask question directly.

OK, makes sense. LOL Look like they've never lifted a feather, but built like they work for a living. ;)
You have it!!

This will be my first time showing an Import..I am a bit excited..It will go very very well..or very bad. I will have fun no matter what.

I hope you go too. What are you planning on showing?

Evening All....kinda sad the pack never showed up again in the playoffs. It's going to take a good team to beat the niners Fake Pass/ running game. How do you cover the receivers and the QB with legs and eyes like those of that special QB?

I've never been to a show where the judge doesn't handle the birds for inspection of feathers for color and condition, as well as spreading the wings for primary and secondary feathers, as well as the axial between the two and the covert feathers that fill in the spaces, and vermin and quality of the specimen (weight for type) legs, feet and toes he is handling...just sayin. I think APA shows are way more than looking in cages.

Glad the seahawks are out of the hunt....pete carroll really blew it trying to ice the kicker and then acting like he didn't call time out...little to much!

I want to put some Iowa Blues in the ring, though I know they aren't accepted yet, but start getting them out there even if it just gets me a smiley face on the card and nothing else, lol.

I don't have anything standard to show currently. My silkies are cuckoo patterned (though nice type and feathering), so not accepted. My bantam Ameraucanas are lavender.

I do have some Black Copper Marans cooking, so possibly could show some of those.

Biggest thing we're working on this year is to start the process of getting Iowa Blues approved. :)

Hellooooo....

Jim thanks for the broody idea. She came off the nest the next day. But may be I caught her during her dinner break. She's back in there now and has been for a day and a half. I put my gloves on and was messing with her. Trying to irritate her enough to give up. I also took the egg out from under her. I'm going to check on her this afternoon and put an egg or two in front of her and see if she tucks them under. I'll give a couple of days and see. There is a reason why I call you the Chicken Knowledge Fairy Jimbo!
Hmmm.......that doesn't sound too hard for you.

Delish: My chickens are a hobby for me with the eggs being a wonderful side benefit, so yes I am one of those crazies that has them as pets :) As far as Dixie biting-to clarify, shes not hurting me-just pecking at me to leave her alone just as she would to another chicken bugging her. She friendly in that she follows me around for treats, will take treats out of my hands etc. However, my EErs love to be petted and rub their chins-pretty cute how they close thier eyes and make the cutest lil sounds.

I am interested in finding someone that will have EEr chick(s) this spring with either gray or white coloring? Also, anyone breeding faverolles?

BBP: Do you remember who the breeder was that you bought your banty Salmon Faverolles from? Keep forgetting to ask you.

The coop is showing zero right now-worried how cold it will be tonight :-(

Angie....... I will be hatching chicks with them colors Gray Beard throws nice color, all of his chicks last year had the gray/blue color in them somewhere and 5 of my 11 pullets/hens are the grayish under down and some feathers especially Filleen, and gray beard. so If ya want some I'll post pictures when I start Hatching.........Kim

Quote: I sure have been corrected..

Make sure you read the highlights..I was not very through at all. Big Zio has explained it way better than I ever could about APA.
Not all shows are APA..The first two we were talking about are. The next one is not.
How long have you been working on Iowa Blues?
Can you enter those in as other?
