I did try to take a picture of my Iowa Blue when I was getting pictures of other chickens I was listing on Craigslist. Here is one. You can't see his head though. He's 3 years old. And may need a spur trimming soon.

Here is one of the roosters I am trying to get rid of. I had someone out to butcher all my extra bantam roosters the other day and he got away and hid under the coop. Bantam salmon faverolles x lemon blue cochin

I have loads of wire dog crates. Will look into maybe making a few that look like pictures I've seen of chicken coops/cages from shows.

Shows don't really start until the summer or later, do they?

They are all year long..I do not go to those down south..Illi will be the first..

Good Freakin' chilly evening! LOL! I finally got home about 4:40 today. Turns out when I went to bring my car up to load my stuff it wouldnt start! Just a bit of a grr-rrr, then nothing! SO one of my friends was still there and she brought her truck over. We hooked up her jumper cables and let mine charge for a while--NOTHING! Same noise. the lights worked, the key ding ding ding was working, the wipers worked...I didnt know what was up. DH said he was sure that her cables were bad and that I should just go over to Walmart and buy a battery and a wrench to change it out...yeah, it's 12 degrees and I am in dress pants with a nice coat! Definitely NOT dressed for auto mechanic work! He was on his way to the Dells with DD20 and her BF for a week vacation. The other two are heading up after volleyball tonight. My friend had to go so I called DD26 to come and get me. She didnt have room for all my stuff in her car so I say let's just try your cables and see what happens. Meanwhile DS23 goes into the hotel and get s a hammer and a rubber mallet. He starts knocking on the starter (which I was not sure what to pound on so I didnt do it--I hate "new" cars!) before we can try to start it. Well, it pops right over and starts up...!!! So I believe that it was the starter stuck the whole time. (expert's opinions?) Loaded up the stuff and off I went! WHew! I had no idea how I was going to get my car with no one home all week...it's not like I have no place I need to be all week!
So I had the best birthday I ever had...so many wishes and texts/calls! We all went to lunch at Beres Bros coffee house and the whole restaurant sang to me! (then we sang to another patron)
SO fun! I also goe much scrapbooking done and caught up with my friends too.

So, you guys were busy here! I stayed caught up...didnt want to have so much to read tonight. MXM stopped in to visit on my birthday too! I see she didnt come and talk to you guys--LOL!
Great job on getting those IAB's into some shows ODrH. They are really neat looking birds for sure! BTW--the duck eggs are still doing well? Another week yet-or is it two?
Carol brought those eggs over and my broody went unbroody I believe! I had been pulling her off every day because I didnt want any chicks now...Then she had good eggs...I am thinking that they arent any good now though--it was pretty cold. Maybe I should throw them under the other hen that is sitting...she has hers and another hens and a ducks too!

Well guys, I am falling asleep here. I can sure say that I had not much sleep this weekend! I DID kinda watch the game; my BFF is a diehard and she even had to head back to the hotel right after dinner so she could "warm up the TV!" (we had troubles last time) SHe did enough screaming and cussing for all of BYC! So I did watch a bit...between working on pages of course!

ETA: ODrH--our fair is the week after July 4th--it is an APA show I believe...come and add some competition!

2 blue/ pied females-both hatched peachicks 3 yrs this coming spring.
All birds are healthy, kept inside in the winter. Free range in the summer, but come back to roost in barn in the evenings or on top of barn weather permitting.

Modern Game Bantam!!! I am selling three colors of modern game bantam pairs. They are Birchen, Splash and Ginger colored. They are approximately 9 months old. They are fully feathered at this point and most are fully mature. They will look like the picture below. I am asking $25 per pair for show quality pairs and $15 for pet quality birds. Swaps that we will attend are; the Watertown Pigeon and Bantam Swap on February 23strdat the Jefferson County Fairgrounds 6:30 am to 10:00 am, the WB&GBA Poultry Swap in Fond du lac at the Fairgrounds from 6:30 am until noon on March 9th and also the Walworth County Fur and Feather Swap at the Elkhorn Fairgrounds on April 13th from 6:30 am until 11:00 am.

Hi ALL!

Jim... I got a game chick from you at my first Bash. She's a yellowish white / black trim. She was real stand offish at first but after she went broody and I petted her the nest everyday she got pretty friendly. Now she's one of my favorites. I was wondering if Tmike's were different. yea, the sleep thing wasn't happening.

Angie... I'll probably have EE and pure Amer. chicks this spring too. Not sure what colors until they hatch... good shot at blues/gray and light ones.

Bf4m...Yea, you pay an arm and leg for insurance and still you have to pay out the but.

BBp... Yep, for me it's 100% oop too. I don't see how they think people who couldn't afford insurance before can afford it now just because the government says we have to have it. What do I give up? Even if we gave up cable, Internet a phone it wouldn't cover 1/3 of what it would cost to just cover me! If I was going to start raising Banties I would take that cute little guy.

vicki.... they will never cease to amaze you! I bet it was too cute to see them there....could you hear "mommy we're hungry"?

TO... WB... good thing DS found a hammer! We had a starter like that once. Moisture got in and froze it up. Start looking for a new starter.

Well, "the boys" made it back and forth to work OK. Young son has off today (Mon.) Have to go to town today, don't want to go out in the cold!

Good Crisp Morning Everybody! 4* here. TO glad you got started! I remember one time having that problem and stopping someplace on the way home and shutting it off out of habit

But got lucky and it started.

Check the connection before replacing. Vic I have Goldie, Btwo, and Peatwo pecking at the back door for treats. If your in the living room it sounds like someone's knocking. I go look and see no one's there then go to the door and ask what they want? They stand there looking expectantly, they nearly always get what they ask for. Spoiled brats. ODrH thinking the Iowa Blues will be a breed soon. Hope it happens! Bf4me 10lbs in 10 days. That sounds awful fast to me. Be carefull! That really bites about the copay! Have to agree with Cindy if you couldn't afford it before how are you going now? That's major flaw I see in it. Not much to report here, kinda nice.

My husband got a quote on insurance for our whole family and it was over $1100/mo. The IRS can fine me all they want, I won't be getting it.
