I went to get my call ducks from Dennis Fuller today. I came home with 3. He also had chocolate wyandotte roosters I could have bought. I kind of wish I would have. Oh well. His geese are huge! He said they weigh over 50 lbs.

Ahhh--it is quiet her at last. Everyone is in bed...it is too bad that I am tired too and will have to head there shortly.
I am sick of listening to football and all sports on the television! Especially when people that are "watching" them are doing other things! Jeez.

OK--I guess time for me to hit the hay. My bad mood is gone (thank goodness) and so I should be able to sleep OK.

Sorry to hear about your birds Terri! I know how terrible you must feel. Our big dog has caught a few. Once he even came running from behind the house by the garden with Princess in his mouth. My MIL called because she had seen him running, well more like prancing, around the yard with her. I ran outside and yelled at him to stop and he dropped her. Thankfully he was only carrying her, but I almost had a heart attack. I don't know how many treats I gave the poor chicken. The dog on the other hand was not so lucky...

In November I did a swap thread. My birds weren't laying very well so I said for spring shipment. So today I did a different swap thread, claimed a swap for late spring and put up 6 Marans eggs for shipment in 3 wks. The lady I owe for the first swap thread contacted the second swap thread starter. She tattles that I wasn't going to ship out eggs in 2 wks. (Per the rules) So the second thread starter emails me and tells me i have to ship in 2 wks. Period.

well 1. i dont want the eggs to freeze 2. i want to make sure they are not covered by an icelandic roo we just culled last week. i never saw him get on a girl because of his bum leg but still want to be sure.

THAT is how I can get in trouble on an egg swap page. the tattler woman will get her eggs, and i hope they freeze on her. Witch....

Bf4m..... For shipping eggs in cold... if you were closer or if someone is heading this way... I have a bunch of small insulated "boxes" and cold/hot packs.They should work well with some bubble wrap (or something) to ship eggs. DH and #1 son get meds in them every month so I get at least 2 a month and they build up here!!!TAKE THEM!!! BTW... I'm sure most threads don't have a issue with using "Witch" in a derogatory manor, however MOST of us are quite nice!

You probably didn't realize it, and it's not a real big deal, but it did make me cringe a bit.

Our weatherman came up with a good piece of advice this morning,, " If you are shivering, you might be cold, so move into someplace warm.." am I glad he told me that,, for 70 years I was wondering about it..

Did you see that one politician trying to get gun training in as part of school's curiculum? good idea.. make all the doors buzz in , and have the guns already in the school.. what an idiot..

and Oh yes..in the mean time, let's discontinue the music and arts programs,, to save money..

there is a good side to all this cold.. surprised CC the ever ready optimist didn't mention it, we have no snow to shovel..

I am not turning the birds loose today, I don't think.. I would let the geese out, but I can't do that without all the other species escaping, also..

my outside faucet is not frozen, yet, but it is sure stiff to turn..

the hose has frozen yet.. I walk the whole length of it twice to drain all the water out.. then leave it stretched out down the hill ..

I think the heater in the guinea coop is kaput,, I have a spare in the garage that I can switch it out with.. ya, sure, quit on the coldest day of the year ? Murphy's law, eh?..

well, was up since 4:3o AM all cuppa'd up..

Oh yeah,, about shipping eggs with a warm pack to keep them from freezing.. I see nothing wrong with it,, but I was brought up very shortly by the owner of another site for stating this.. I am not sure if I am kicked off, but my last post was not posted.. long story short,, don't disagree with the owner of a web site..

Its pretty standard for the swaps to require you to ship within 2 weeks. That's why I don't swap in the winter. I can't have eggs shipped to me right now, so there's really no point.
