Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I am just not going to look at those, swap threads. I don't need too many chickens right now. Took some warm out meal out to them this morning. Had to spoil them with this cold day. I won't be around until later. Going to drive the kids to the bus stop this morning.

Oh yes... HAPPY Birthday Carol!

Good Snappy Morning ! Only -1 here. There's a nice red glow from the coop so I guess the timer works. [I checked that too] Don't care for the wind chill though. Kept the walk in door closed yesterday and it was pretty nice in there. Was surprised that they were all out most of the day with that breeze. Yup judge have to agree with Dan close it up tight at night. Dan I pre-cook and freeze the sausage and bacon so the only mess I make is the egg pan.

I hate doing dishes.

But it seems Laura has been training me again. I get treats! Woof woof. That's my other dog imitation. [Donald Sutherland]

Jim one time I watched channel 7 news and Jeff Theiland sp? said "If you can't see me right now that means your power is out". It peed me off so bad I wanted to get in the truck, drive up there, and beat the crap outta him! One of the many reasons I can't watch channel 7. Just pulled L's car out of the garage to warm up it didn't seem that bad out there. Cindy if I have to fire up the bator that's probably where I'll have to put it. TO that sucks about the dog! Hope that was the extent of the damage. delisha hope your broody sticks! ODrH nothing like wood heat!!!!!! I reread the instructions for my wood furnace. It said to open the door spinner so it burns the secondary gases, saves 70% on wood usage. Have had it closed for 2 months.

So much for saving wood this year. judge my coop isn't insulated and they do just fine. I do get moisture problems with the deep litter so I open the walk in door if it's above 20. When it gets below I run a heat lamp from about 2 AM till 8. Bigz the moose is loose! That warden was a lucky man! kjg 70*

!!!! Well time to get some soft water to the kids. Have to get some kind of warm mash thought up for tomorrow morning. Betting Vic is busy bundling them all up to go to the green house. Lil coats, ear muffs, snow boots, and wing mittens. Maybe beak warmers too.

Good morning! Jim, you are on top or your game this morning! Made me spit coffee at the screen first thing with the rolled newspaper comment! Now I have one more thing to clean up--thanks. Yeah that dog has been popped with a lot more than a rolled paper let me tell you! Not this time cause I didnt catch her but the last time when she snatched one in front of me she got smacked with the dead bird--a lot. Thing is, she goes out with me every day and lies down and watches them. She hasnt touched a bird since that last time which was last spring I think. I just dont get it...Border collies are not supposed to be killers "they" say. (prolly the same "they" that told you if you are shivering you are cold!)
Yeah Doc...always a good thing to read those directions for optimal performance! Just think, now you wont have to cut so much wood!
I need another cuppa....there. Much better!
The thermometer says 0. The radio says it's 4. Any way you look at it it's dam^ cold. The windthrill (liked that too Dan) is -15. But the big chill is starting tonight according to the guy....great.

Cind I got this herbal stuff at the tack sale. It is supposed to work miracles. I am going to see if their claim is right...otherwise I will commission you to make me some!

HAPPY DAY CAROL!
You didnt let on at the sale! We would have sung the birthday song right there! It was only one day early.

Doc--glad to hear you werent eating all that bacon and sausage for that meal! My arteries just started aching when I read that! LOL!
I think I am going to take those two hens from last night and make a ridiculously large pot of soup for tonight. I am sure we have enough food to feed the entire town in this house...I rue the day that the Costco opened up in Sun Prairie! Of course DH had to get a membership right away. Maybe I should just let him take over the kitchen hey?

Guess I better go outside and see what's up...or down.

The hardest thing for me is to actually get dressed and head out. Once I am out there all is fine and I dont mind being out at all! Why is that, oh you wise ones? Perhaps my recliner is just too comfy...and when you have all day...
Darn procrastination anyway!

Good morning! Ok- question. (again) Anyone else have an unheated coop? Ours is not insulated either, but it is wrapped in plastic. I usually leave the pop door open, but I closed it last night. Going out to check and let them out soon, and really hoping I don't find any frozen chicken nuggets

Any horsey people tell me if the pony will be ok out there? He has a shelter with 3 sides and a roof with a straw floor. Will he be ok or do I need to find someplace in the barn for him? Not sure what the cows would think of that!
Any way- this weather gets me worried.
Hope you all have a good day- stay warm!
Pony should be fine. As long as he has a good winter coat (which most pony's get) and can get out of the wind and stay dry, he'll be okay. Just make sure he has enough to eat. That keeps them warm, also.

Wow cold morning everyone! I saw on the news this morning -20 with the windchill. Down to -40 tonight possibly. No thanks.
I should go out and make sure all is well with the chickens, but my butt will be parked in front of the TV for the morning watching the inauguration.
Two of the chickens like to roost outside of the coop (but in the run) I threw them in last night and shut the door, but they always get the darn door open. Guess it's not cold enough for them.
