Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Good evening! Feeling slightly better tonight. I think it was the 2 hour nap...or maybe the Margarita at dinner?

We (ds and dd) took the littles to Mariachi tonight. I will just say that it will be a while before we go again. The weirdest thing (my son is the one that pointed it out) when one is acting badly the other is good as gold; then it's like flipping a switch and they change personalities! I dont know if it's because they are so close in age? My kids didnt do this. Anyone else experiencing this phenomenon? They were happy to hit the sack tonight even after our nap. Maybe they are coming down with colds too?

I had a nice surprise today...You cant really tell the color of my new egg in the collection--it the green on the right.

It is a little more visible on the white counter in the kitchen.

I wonder why it's so hard to get an egg's true color in a picture? This one is a neat greenish color. Not at all what I am used to getting! I have a new pullet here and she is supposed to be an EE. She has no beard or muffs though. The other egg that was in by these two hens was just huge! I should probably try to hatch them both since they are in with JJ's cuckoo Marans roo!
A question...since this EE lays this greenish egg, if I bred her to that Marans would the resulting pullets be olive eggers or does the EE throw brown egg genes too?

I sure hope the Mom gets here soon...I am just about to fall asleep all of a sudden! I think it's odd that I can be so awake and then so tired.

Sweet dreams everyone! I think I will turn out some lights and get ready for bed! TerriOtiredtiredtired

(PS) what kind of goats does your sis have Cutie? I want to say Alpine but they dont look quite right. SO adorable...as all babies are!
I am not a biologist, but in my last years mixed hatch I had 3 pullets that were Blue ameraucana w/ Welsummer roo and 2 lay Robin egg blue and the other light brown.......this problably does not help much.

Can't remember who asked about RVA, but I think it is a On Line educational App/Software for reading, L.A., math, etc., like a virtual teacher or somthing.

gusto is terrible, give me a good castor lure and I will put it on as cologne!
Now that is funny stuff. Your right about gusto...I used it for cover scent once when I was bow hunting. When I got back to the cabin my Dad would not let me in. The funny thing was I did not put the gusto on me, but on a tree about 3 feet away!

Oh oh I just read a cool thing! My wheaten Maran group talked about how they use frontline on their chickends for lice and mites. Now that is one easy thing I can manage!!!

they are broad breasted whites, DD is raising them for 4-H

This is Eva. She's now a two year old. She is a Broad Breasted White. She's quite large.

This is what happens when you get too attached. This was a particularly cold day, so Eva came in to warm up.

I'm heading down for the testing training in April too, I think Delisha is as well. I want to be certified so I can test my own flock and get my NPIP. Mostly for the purpose of selling hatching eggs to other states. Some require you have it.
I'll be at the certification as well. :) I'm getting mine for 4-H to make it easier on us and my club to get our flock certified for the fairs. We only have 3 testers in Juneau county as of right now.

Friends of ours kept one of our BBBronze hen that my DD showed 3 years ago- they just lost her hear to internal problems.

Nice picture of her in your house!

Sad day here.

I came home from work to a very sick kitty. He just kept going downhill since he went in on Thursday...... so I made the call and now he is no longer suffering. At least everyone was here to say their goodbye's before we left, but this is still so hard on the youngest.... he is so tenderhearted.

So no more worrying for me, until the next cat decided to get sick!

I'll try to find a decent pic of Runt later so you can all see what a beautiful tabby he was.

Later all! Enjoy this sunshine while you can!
