Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Well everyone has answered all of the questions that I had planned on responding to and my opinion/info is not different from what has been posted already.

I didn't find boots at F&F for DD12 and myself so I ordered them online. I looked at TSC in Burlington but they didn't have ones that I liked.

Mr. Gibs has a alfalfa holder now. I probably should show him where it is. It also has a salt wheel arm so I boughr a salt/mineral wheel as he licks my hand sometimes. I figure that I should mix his current food with the new stuff so he doesn't get tummy problems. Right?

The chicks are doing well. The babies are enjoying flying out and touring. They are pinning blackish feathers. The older ones I really haven't seen much of (except earl morning and late night). I got some snuggling in with one of them tonight.

Hi all--I read 30 posts...40 to go! My you were all chatty this afternoon! The girl came for the goos eggs. SHe seemed pretty nice. Was also looking for my "exotic" type ducks...none of those here!

Welcome to the new people! Join in at any time!

Congrats on the remission Vicki!!! That is excellent. Maybe it be a super long one!

Picked up my quail from Hurley this evening, the kids played in the McDonald's Playland. They were crazy! I think they will be ok in this tote until morning.

My eyes are closing,,closing clo.................I think I better get up to bed...tomorrow's another day!

Hi All!
WOW.... you people talked 10 pages worth!

Sunshine.... sorry about the chick, for the best though. Some things can be fixed, some can't. Somethings put the rest at risk.

Love the cartoon!

Amy.... LOL.... I haven't had them jump on me w/poopy feet however, There are a few that roost in the rafters I have to constantly look out for! Got bombed a couple of times!

CS.... you can go back to "A chicken in every pot" or "A chicken in every yard" LOL BTW....You were in Burlington and didn't stop by me? Humph! I see how it is...

Of course it would have helped if you knew where I lived! LOL

BigZ.... You sure put together some great meals!

Angie... I have 6 roos running around... yep, you got to let them work things out. As long as they got room to run and hide no one should get hurt too bad. Just look 'em over when you close them up for the night. LOL... 2 of my roos were going at it the other day and the Tom turkey puffed up and walked right between them!

BigFam.....did we miss something about your mom? Or has BL4 been hitting the cherry juice?

Well, felt a bit better today, got some "chasing" done and picked up feed. I was really surprised at the mill, the price actually came DOWN!!! And, since I got 200lbs I got a free egg basket! I think it would only hold 12-18 but it was cute and free! Young son had a good idea, he said since we are getting neighbors (in the house that was empty for over 4 years) I should bring it to them with a dozen eggs and tell them to use it when they need a refill! Good idea! I'm going to have to be on good terms with them because for the last 3 years my birds have wondered over there

I sure hope they like poultry!

Guess that's it.... night!

Some people saw my Facebook post about my mom. She is in the hospital right now. She had her second knee replacement end of Feb. It got infected so they opened up the knee again to clean it out. They found the infection went all the way down to the joint, so they had to take out the plastic parts and replace them. That's not the bad part. When she went into urgent care on Sunday they took a culture. It grew out gram negative. If the next round of cultures come back the same, they remove the new knee, leave it out for at least a month, give antibiotics through a pic line at home, then antibiotics for the rest of her life! Gram neg is extremely hard to cure, and is drawn to artificial joints.

The kicker is 2 years ago she had her first knee replaced. Everything was fine and then 9 months later she got a staph infection that turned septic in her knee. So they had to remove that knee for a month. Pic line antibiotics, lots of pain because they actually had to break her leg bones to get it out. But being staph it was curable at least.

So my mom is a nurse and she doesn't let medical stuff phase her. But when I talked to her today she asked several times for as many prayers as possible for a treatable bacteria in there. Thats what I asked for on Facebook. I guess it won't hurt to ask for it on here. Get them in quick! And don't just say you're sending them, fold those hands and say one! (Yep I'm a bit bossy at times)(zip it CC!)

As to my hatch update: I had 21 hatch out of 62. Abysmal in my book. I sold 7 to a lady. I don't think I'm selling anymore of these. I'm thinking about the Polish though. I have 3 with tophats and one with out. They are frizzled polish and are cool colors. But I free range my chickens, and "they" say polish don't see well enough to do that. I may say f it and do it anyway. I hate having seperate flocks! That's why I'm thinking about getting rid of the silkies. But one is sitting on a couple eggs right now so I guess I won't advertise until they're hatched.

And I don't think Jim would be thrilled with dinner here. Lasagna is about the only thing I cook well. Otherwise is macaroni and cheese with hamburger, or tacos with hamburger, or spagetti with hamburger in the sauce, or tater tot casserole... With hamburger... :D

Good morning..!!

Making venison stew today........ I have this thing about venison: I hate it. It tastes terrible to me. I am trying something different though, I soaked it in some salt water and I 'hope' I have gotten every scrap of fat and silverskin off of the stuff.

Good morning everyone!!!
:hugs First, I said a prayer for your mom as soon as I read your post bigfam.
:frow Hi Jim. My master has returned!!
Thanks for all the good wishes everyone ! Bigz and Delisha- I have CML so it's a a sort of chemical remission. Means that the drugs were finally able to "catch up" and kill the bad cells as fast as they form ----YEA!!!! I am even able to take a smaller dose now which side effects wise is a really big deal :D
Enough of that, on to important stuff.
:thumbsup My new chickies are doing great this morning. Hope everyone else is the same and so sorry for those who aren't.

Now I need to kick my kitty of my lap so I can get another cuppa and go clean up the babies.
Great day everyone!!!

I hear ya about the venison. Hate it with a passion. My hubby loves to bow hunt, so I can it all into stew for him. My 30 year old likes it, but he also liked wild boar in the Sudan. My hubby claims the way I cook it you can't tell it's venison, but I grew up if you didn't hunt it, fish it, or grow it you didn't eat it. We ate a lot of venison in the red meat department. Can't stand tounge either.

I do not like it either..I have a trick..I soak it in buttermilk over night. It leaches out the smell. I hate the smell of it so much I can't eat it. The buttermilk really helps. Bread it with egg, s&p+++ and ritz crackers. Then I cut up two large sweet Valdalias and a lb of bacon, fry the bacon almost done and add the meat and fry it all together.
