Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

yeah.. I should be running and hiding too, I have also helped a little, if only to widen the pip area a tad. The only chicks I lost were the serama's and I found out that they would not have survived anyway, my hen is short legged and that creates a lethal cross in serama chicks.
They either don't hatch or fail to thrive.. that happened with mine.

And I have to share this with Just John..
I saw your "brother" and his van today...
he had a license plate that said "Just Jim"...

LOL
You had me going there. I do have a brother and he does have a van, and he is very outgoing(unlike me) His name is Andy though

where did you find kennel panels?

I gotta hang with you more often

Thanks to all of you for the D L info, its something i will have to consider. I hope to build a new coop with a greenhouse on the end of it. So this could be helpful with the compost and all. I am planing on using the greenhouse as a passive solar heater, and a winter indoor run, kind of a win win. I am going to use an old corncrib slab so with a little work it will be a really nice set up. this is still in the planning stages as I have several other projects in the works. So this might have to wait till next year. thats O K my chickens have a good spot for now. I just dont have a great setup for breeding right now. Oh well all in time!!!!...............Just ordered acouple of bee hive setups for this year. Never had bees but I ve always been Interested as my grandpa was a hobby bee keeper. That should be Interesting to say the least. zekewatchigthefinal4basketballthatis

Hey all! What a great day. DD12 had a soccer game in lake forest today...very windy. I got sunburn and/or wind burn out there. Good game though.

Delisha-can you go to CC in two weekends from now?

Watched the babies bathe themselves today. It just cracks me up to see them thrashing about tossing debris everywhere. I plan to let the birds all out tomorrow (maybe even together), I'll check health first.

Sounds like a great day!

Yes I can go..thanks

They should have fun together..it is time to get them in as a group. I was going to let the little ones out today but it never got nice with the sun out. I am hoping for tomorrow myself.

Great! I'll can drive but currently have no idea where she lives.

The babies are quickly out growing their space. I'd like to put them out but would prefer warmer evenings first. This weekend ill get another heat lamp or high watt to put outside so the lav orps can have aheat lamp by the time they get here.
The ones outside have decided they prefer the "grown-up" waterer and feeder! They walk up the ramp that I built for the rabbit to get water and seem to prefer dry foid more often than FF. They eat it fresh but not once its been packed down. It seems wasteful so far.

Oh ya! i was going to mention, outdoor temp pens r easily made out of pvc pipe chicken wire and zip ties. Lightweight, last for ever, and portable. Another Idea I would like to share is, When your looking for good roost material in your coops I ve found that old wooden extension ladders work excellent. You can cut them to size or you can lean them up against the wall. This wall leaning method works well when you have younger birds. They start at the bottom and either walk or fly up the slanted ladder one step at a time. I have three ladders in my coop leaning on opposite walls creating a crisscross set up. Gives them plenty of room to move around if older birds bully them. If this info is not new, sorry I am. It may have been shared but I ve never seen it. So thats about it for now, more Ideas to follow. I was going to come, instead of follow, but that seems to get a good giggle out of some of you!!
