Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Good morning!! Congrats olton!!!!
Horrible weather. :'( :'( the ice ripped out the power lines to the barn. Which in turn ripped the siding off the house. Hubby ( builds houses) does not think he can find a siding to match our old stuff! We just painted last summer. (When I say we I mean he) lol
All my poor trees have lost sooo many branches :'( :'( :'( :'(

Hi All!

Wow... Lots of jabber and I really don't have anything to contribute

You all are really. really making me want to hatch some chicks! I promised myself I was only going to let broodies hatch a few this year, wouldn't you know, had a couple go broody when it was still real cold but now, no one wants to set!

With my luck I'll get a broody about May 10th and the chicks will hatch while I'm at the bash!

Oh well, I guess they come when they come.
Delish... any word on that order of BLRW? I'm thinking I want 4.

Didn't let turkeys out today. Way too muddy around their pens. Good thing too, I got 2 turkey eggs. If I get a couple more this week I MAY set them in the bator. I just need to get something built for when they hatch and raise them to 13 weeks or am able to sell them.

The poor chickens! They were in and out between showers all day. Had a few mad, wet hens for sure!

Now the yard looks more suited to ducks than chickens! I think Mother Nature is ****** at us! Yes, we need the rain.... but not all at once!

Well, that's it on my end... night all!
I contacted both of them yesterday..they both said..they plan to ship the end of April. So SLW and BLRW are in the incubator. If it is a good hatch they get shipped the 29th. I do have a few BLRW here from the first batch if you did not want to wait.
Oh ya, and delishas orps have the biggest beauitfullist fluffy butts ever!!!!!!
Thank you ...they are some huge fluffy butts. 10lbs of walking feathers.

sounds like everyone but us "up nort ers" got hit pretty hard by the weather!!!
Cuties~good thing your hubby is a contractor!
Looked at the coming storm and so far looks like it's going to hit mostly to our west,

One day road trip and it takes me an hour to get caught up on the reads, sheesh!!!

Nothin' new here chickie wise except for 4 cranky hens because they've been cooped up. sun just popped out so looks like they can go play in the greenhouse this morning, happy, spoiled chookies.

Question~my babies are a week old now. Is it safe to add more chicks in with them for another source??? Thinking since i lost one and at least one of my older ladies probably won't be around a whole lot longer I might sneak another couple in there if we get to Tractor Supply. What do you think??? How much of an age difference can I get away with???

Now I have to get outside for a bit to make up for my "day off".

Wow it's beautiful outside! Everything is coved in ice. Even the power lines have little icicles hanging from them. Only thing is that when the bus came I found out the latch to the gate was frozen and the kids couldn't get out. So there I am with a mason jar filled with hot water a hammer trying to get the gate open

Colton- congratulations on your baby brother. Wow 7 boys? What a blessing

Not much has been going on here lately. Everyone seems to be doing ok. Only thing is- when I reached under Flutter to check on her eggs and remove the extras I noticed that she has what looks like a scrape on her stomach area. Its pretty red, but not open. Is it a sore from sitting on eggs> My other broody, Mary doesn't have it. Actually- is it normal to see the skin of a chicken under there? I guess I never looked.

Does anyone know when I can let the duckies swim around? I thought maybe I'd let them swim around in the kitchen sink or the bathtub, but I didn't know if they needed to be a certain age.
Loving all your chicken and chick pictures everyone!!
My broodys always pluck their stomach/lower breast area, some more than others. They line their nest w/ them. Skin to egg allows better heat transfer,....
What is the "Bash"?
Congats Colton..........Check out the bottom of TO's replys to get the "Bash" tread.....See above post, It is the bottom one in blue.

adding new chickens is always a health risk no matter the age. Age difference at that young age will not make any difference.

EVERYTHING is covered in ice up here and the pine trees are all sagging from the weight of it. We're lucky to have power from the looks of it - a lot of folks around here are in the dark. Lots of accidents on the icy roads so I'm staying put for now. The chickens have plenty to eat inside the coop.

Sorry to hear about your power lines and siding! Nice spring, eh?
