Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Cute Po-Po's, as I call them. The best way to tell boys from girls, for me anyway, is the head feathering. Boys have spiky rockstar feathers, girls are more poofy.

. Yup that's his favorite spot to survey from.

He sure is a funny boy! He still eats out of our hands and knows that if he grabbed another roosters girl he better make a bee line and hide behind me. That's delisha's Black Foot. He's doing a nice job surveying the hens taking horse poop bathes too. Well that and he can keep an eye on the SFHs in the pen behind him. He thinks the roosters have designs on his girls.

Hello all. I have been following along everyday, but of course I feel like a bit of an outsider andI don't always know what to say. I was out of town last week and the well broke this over the weekend and was being worked on yesterday and today. Good news is we have water back, but the bad news is that at some point in the not-to-distant future we are going to have to drill a deep well since the sand point isn't performing very good any more. Time to start saving up I guess.

All the talk about head cheese and stuff...ewe, lol. Not trying that at the bash...

Yay, for the last few days of good weather!!! Got the coop done and my husband did a kick-*** job on it. Looks amazing and the critters seem to really like it.

As far as chickens go I'm getting 15 Langshan eggs to Amyable tomorrow and I am excited to hear how they progress. Collecting this week for a trade with Terry O for some Buckeye chicks!!

Got 5 eggs due to hatch tomorrow and I can't stop checking on them (from my new Langshan trio). Two are peeping a little and rocking the eggs. It's my first time so I am really nervous...

Took the ducks down to the pond for a swim again today and they are so cute. They stay close to us even though they act like they don't care for us too much unless we have mealworms in our hands. Named them Daisy & Donald (original right?)

Daisy and Donald 8 weeks

Anyway, wish me luck on the chickies due tomorrow...

Cute coop!!!..how many more are you building? Sounds like you will have a ton more birds!! You are no longer an outsider..you are chicken crazy too!! Might as well jump right in and feel at home.

Lmilller, beautiful coop, Your husband did a great job.
Beautiful weather here. Hope we get rain tonight.
Next Monday the chicks are going in the coop , They will be a month old. I will put in a heater and heat lamp until they are older and it warms up at night, off to rake

What a great day! I got a little sun burn. Nice for a change. Chickens where ducking for shade this afternoon our outdoor thermometer hit 90.

I am a little sunburn too..6 hours in the garden and cleaning the coop. What a mud hole that garden is. I put all the cardboard i had for the winter chicks in the garden so i could actually walk inn it. I am planting my beans this week.

Good luck!

Love the new coop!!

I am trying a row of straw bale gardening this year. I spent time setting up the 10 bales and a soaker hose to water the heck out of them next I add 13-13-13 fertilizer I had laying around. watering and adding fert. for 12 days by then the inside of the bale is breaking down and making heat a little potting mix on top and put some started plants in the bales. Suppossed to be no weeds and easy picking cause it's all up off the ground. I put up T posts to make a wire trellis along the top for some stuff. We will see.

I could post updates and pics if anyone was interested?
