Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I'm confused. I thought chocolate was a sex linked recessive that, when breeding to black, would only produce pure black or pure chocolate feathering. There seems to be some incomplete lacing or something in Hershey. I'm only bringing this up because my plan was to breed chocolate to black, but I was not expecting anything other than chocolate or black from it. I'm off to do research.

cutest fluffy butt! what is the hen in the background?
im excited...hosting a urban chicken booth at work next wed. at our wellness fajr. rented the byc banner..have some hand outs..planning on having hencam.com playing...show a store eggs and our eggs to compare..some local city chicken ordinances printed..reskurces for coops etc
Um, which pic? Sorry it too me so long to reply. The internet is being difficult this evening. You'd think being a Friday night, everyone would be out!

If you are referring to the one under the pallet, it is a Dom/buff orp cross.

No clue. I got her from Bigfam.

She is all brown, though. Light fading to dark. Pictures do no do her justice.

CC, she is talking about Hershey. Hershey is not the typical black/chocolate cross. She should be solid chocolate or solid black because of recessive genes. What ever she is..she has good bones. If she is bred to chocolate I would think her chicks could possibly be all black, some will have gold leakage. That is what would be the best thing that could happen. Keep a solid black pullet or two with no gold leakage and bred it back to the chocolate dad. You would be steps ahead of most people working on LF chocolates and by this time next year setting your first Hershey/Chocolate eggs...wooo hoo!!

Thank you for that info, Del! I must save it for future reference. That partridge does look alot like Hershey, but in a bantam size? Hershey is huge! This is great to know!

Yeah, I decided to hold off on getting them. I think I'd better put that money towards preparing for them FIRST. Does anyone have gray saddleback pomeranian geese? Or brown chinese?

Yes, that's where I'm getting my chicks from. (Ladysmith auction.

Celtic Chic - Angie thinks your butt is fluffy, better go kick her ***!

Well, I've caught up on my reading.

Delisha-did Mel come over for her babies? How many did she take? BTW, no red on the ameras and I posted my craigslist ad.

Took my mom with me grocery shopping. After sitting for 5-6 hours in the car, she really appreciates walking for awhile. We hit 4 different stores. DH purchased a bunch of PVC to make a watering system for me for Mother's Day, DD12 selected garden hose, DD10 picked watermelon seeds and DS got chocolates truffles for me! Then we went out to eat at an Italian restaurant and came home to have the cookies that the girls made for my mom and me. Yum!

Ok, I've got to head off to bed. We've got soccer all day tomorrow, assuming the rain holds off.

BTW-just picked the first tick of the season off of doggy.

Night everyone...I will dream of a beautiful garden, a ton of canned fruits & veggies, freshly laid eggs (from my chickens), and a successful home purchase.
