Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Judge, did you go to M. Schettl? I ordered my cabinets through them, they are almost all solid wood, and they are made in De Pere. Check them out before you order anything.... I was VERY picky about my cabinets. The only issue I have had with them is the little plastic shelf holder things have been breaking, but the cabinets are also almost 8 years old. I made sure I had shelves that were a good 1/2 inch thick to hold all of my stuff!

CC, the Kitchen Spice soap would be the stuff that I made with the cinnamon swirl, and it is scented with ginger, clove, allspice, nutmeg, cinnamon, etc.....

I will look into making a big repellent soap.....

Off to work for me! Another loooooong Thursday!
I had thought about them. I haven't been there in years but I remember they have some interesting stuff. The cabinets are in a "box" right? Not custom? I was going to go to Home Depot or something and just check on going that route instead. I mean if they aren't wood anyway why am I paying for custom if stock cabinets are nice too?

Hey my English minor with writing emphasis could actually be used?! Tell Tyler all about me Amy...

(the good stuff that is lol)
SHORT conversation then

sure you wouldn't prefer the LONG one that DESTROYS your chances at the position?

I gotta go fire my .22 now... I mean tell it that it is destroyed and it is not allowed to shoot any more.

Good morning! My chores are already (mostly) done! I can hardly believe it myself. The girls were making so much noise around 7 or so that I thought the fox might be back. I guess all this talk about guns and vermin brought that back to mind. Might have to go out a few mornings and sit invisabley in my chair!

Judge--I was also under the assumption that my custom made cabinets were solid wood--NOT! I even asked if they were wood and he said yes! They are, but it is wood fiber pressed and formed. THe insides are wood but this is the door part. Then they are dipped in the paint and heat sealed or something. The problem comes when the soating gets a chip in it (like cupboard doors will do) and then moisture gets in. THe insides swell and pop and then look horrible. I will go take a pic now....
THis is in front of the kitchen sink. Terrible! It doesnt help that the dog lays on this mat all the time with her dirtyness! The kitchen was redone in 1993.

This is the set of drawers to the right of the sink. When we had some $$$ I found a cabinet guy (not retired to Hawaii of all places!) and had some of the fronts remade-the worst ones. The top drawer is now solid wood and is the bottom on in this bank of drawers.

THe biggest problem with this stuff is that you cant paint it! I tried and it just got more fuzzy! I got some white tape from JJ that I am going to try on the worst places. Maybe that would help?
Hey Jim--just thought that you might have some insight on this...anything? I hate how terrible it looks and that kitchen remodel sure wasnst cheap!

Took another turkey out of the bator this morning. It is a different color, kind of like a chipmunk chick. The other one is pure yellow. When my betery charges I will take some pics of them. IT is so funny to see all those birds in one brooder! THe bobs are about the size of a quarter and then these giant turkey babies! Too funny.

Guess I will head off into cyberland...I thought of SO MANY things I needed to look at on here yesterday...it is very hard thinking that you cant get any information without leaving the house. Sure got used to that fast!

Looks to be a fantastic day...get out and enjoy it! TerriO

CS--if you dont have anything to donate to the raffle it is OK. We just started that this year so there would be "more stuff cuz when you want more you want MORE you want MORE!"
Oh my- I can't imagine how upset you must be!! I am hoping that since they will be veneered plywood instead of the pressboard option they will hold up? I am going to do a colored stain, maybe yellow, instead of paint. My aunt had a really bad experience with painted cabinets. She said they aren't able to be retouched if they chip. You see all the spots she touched up. I am so glad I asked the guy about it, although I am still shocked.

Went out to check on the animals this morning and one of the black and white barn cat/kitten was laying on top of the duckling run sunning himself. It was so cute! He won't eat my birds will he? He is gone now and they are all still there, but could he if he wanted to?

Judge, I think they could eat the younger ones if they wanted too... but somehow they seem to usually know the difference with the pets. I had a bigol tom that would hunt everything in sight. I wouldnt put out bird feeders because I thought that would be pretty mean. But he always left our pets alone :)
Also, I wonder where you are located. My husband builds houses. He could probably hook you up with a great cabinet maker. His main thing used to be painting and staining. Untill things slowed a bit. I am sure he could direct you toward the proper finish...

Hope everyone is having a wonderfull sunny day! Sucks being stuck in the factory :-( maybe I will hold 4-h outside tonight!!

Got the back acre plowed! YAY! Still hunting down a disc and drag - got a couple of leads to follow up today. Man, that grass just shot up in the past few days so we're cutting before the rain tomorrow.

This is for all of you who switch eggs around in nests - be careful what you switch!!

My barn cat could care less about the chickens. And like Cuties cat, my daughter had a big cat that hunted bunnies, gophers, etc, and very easily could have taken down a full grown chicken, I know, but he never touched them either. I think they do know the difference between wild and pet animals.

I am so lucky to have a cabinet maker as a friend. He did all the trim, cabinets, vanities and wood furniture in our house. Our cabinet drawers and door fronts are all solid alder. NO VENEER! I had him make me a solid oak dresser once and it is so heavy! Here's a picture of my kitchen. Too bad he's on the other side of the state. He does great custom work. The island was an afterthought. I just drew a picture of what I wanted and he whipped it together.
