umm, if that rooster is doing his job won't that "flapper" get residuals from the girlz you treated?

I think copper sulfate in another method of treating gleet,,,also a good pro-biotic program

Update on my FF.... started soaking yesterday, gave some of it today sprinkled with some oats and they all went to town on it. It was the oats that made them check it out though, as when I first set the dish down they just gave it the crooked eye. Sprinkle anything with oats and they go nutzo!

I still have their dry food in there too and I'm wondering if I keep it in there for them or remove it?
Also, some seem to have a pretty firm crop, others are kinda squishy. Is that ok /normal? I have a tray of sand /dirt mix with them at all times. (My newbie sign is flashing!)

Do what you feel comfortable doing. I keep dry in with little chicks till they *get it*. They are attracted to the noise of pecking. After they are about 10 days I no longer feed dry.

ok... i'm at work so posting real quick... I have sneezing and wheezing chickens? What do I do? I also have chickens with gleet like back ends. Gleets nots contagioous right? I know my delaware has gleet, but what's up with the others? I did put some VETRX in the water to try and treat the sneezes (didnt help) so may be that's the butt issues? help, advice, and info pretty pretty please!

Did you add any new chickens lately? That could be the cause of a new surge of sniffles/cold/ or worse............. keep a close eye out
also vent gleet/ yeast infection is contagious from a few articles I read your rooster can spread it just like your hubby can pass it to you...........or you can keep giving it back to each other if you both are not treated..... use vagasil or a yeast infection cream ob all your girls an do not cage the roo, he needs treatment too but not quite sure how ya get it on his flapper?????

A few things you can do. And yes they could be related. Internal issues can be expressed in may ways.

1. crush up a full head of garlic and put it in every ones feed for a week. (7 full heads of garlic)
2. Soak everyone in Epsom's salt bath that is effected ..Nu Stock on every ones vents..including males that are effected.
3. ACV in all water

The garlic will help with the gleet and the respiratory issues. ACV will help neutralize and balance.

First full day of summer vacation: while I was trying to nap before work, there's a knock on the door. It's my brother-in-law bringing back Halden. He found Halden at his house in the back of his car. We never even knew Halden was gone. The escaping, running, no sense of fear, no response to his name... THESE are my biggest fears and challenges with Halden right now. THESE are the things that may actually kill my child. I bet you never knew that Autism was a life endangering condition? Thank the Lord for Halden's guardian angle today!

we have chains on the tops of doors. But with the 4 older boys, the chains have to get reset EVERYTIME someone goes in and out. It was one of those times when it didnt get reset that Halden got out. I can't use the regular door alrams because I do have 4 other children going in and out of the doors. We would hear the alarm go off all the time and not know when it's Halden getting out. What I am going to do is get the CareTrak system. It's the only way. Its an ankle or wrist bracelet tracking device Halden will wear at all times. We will have a perimeter set up, and when he crosses the lines outside an alarm will go off. Then I have the tracker machine as well to find him if he's in the corn fields or the woods. It's the only way, but it's very very expensive.

I'm afraid to close my eyes or take my eyes off this kid. For the time it will take for me to treat chickens, i dont even want to think what could happen...

(I never ever would have thought he would have gone to that brothers house. I have never seen him climb into a car on his own yet. Can you imagine if it was hotter and the brother in law didnt come out to take his dogs for a ride???)

My DH's kids have door code alarms. No one can get out with out the code. All kids need an adult to let them out. It maybe inconvient, but it is life saving for both autistic children.

Oh my gosh, I would have a real hard time adjusting to codes on all the doors. Half the time I don't even shut the door behind me.
