Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Good morning! Everyone is talking about rain and I am in the pocket where I am still watering my plants! We havent gotten any of the storms they keep predicting...it is cloudy/sunny this morning. Thought I would wake up to rain! So I guess I can work outside for another day!

I know what you mean BBCB about watching the gorgeous day from a window! Many years ago I broke both my legs and a bunch of other stuff on Sept 16 and spent a month and a half in the hospital watching the fall go by...I think that is why I love fall so much now--'cause I missed one! So I am glad you got stuff sorted out---why was your pressure up? Wasnt the new job was it? (hope not)

Rainmel--we are camping on the 22-24 of October in the Southern Kettle of Kettle Moraine. There are a few campgrounds in that area. We are meeting up at Horsmen's Park in Palmyra on Saturday. Nothing big like the spring meet but it would be fun to see some of the new folks that are closer to the Southern area of the state.

DrH--I have some really cute terriers in foster right now that would make excellent deterrents for predators..

Maybe you can come and check them out and get yourself a DOG! No puppies out of the PBGV yet...went out to check this morning and both moms were sound asleep in the kiddie pool--the pups asleep in the other one! I guess the Terrier is tired of the pups?

Today we are going to pick up a lawn sweeper and a chipper/shredder. I saw them for sale yesterday and made an offer. The man called me last night. I sure hope this sweeper deally can pick up pears on the lawn too...that would be slick--then I could get all the rotten ones fed to the goats! Got my fall mums planted yesterday and the top gardens somewhat weeded too. The plants that I got from you BL4 did not bloom purple or yellow this year! I have no idea what they are but they sure have a bunch of leaves! Wondering if they will come back next year and bloom? The Spider-wort was beautiful though--not sure who I got that from...I am hoping yellow on the irises in spring...gosh that seems a long while away doesnt it? Today I am going to pick some Japanese Lanterns and make a fall arrangement for my cats to destroy.

I dont know why I even bother with decorations...speaking of that...FM--those chickens DO come off that little window thing I got at the white elephant! You just have to have a cat knock it down on the floor! I glued her back in though...

OK--getting dressed now and heading out--gotta clean puppies AGAIN and let those egg laying maniacs out! The chick from the other day continues to do well with the mom--she has 4 and is so very content! I can just see it in her eyes! Makes me happy! Have a fantastic day! Terri O

Ugh - what a busy few weeks.

It's Wo-Zha-Wa Days in the Dells this weekend! Unfortunately, it looks like it's going to be rainy and dreary all day tomorrow.

Dry for the parade on Sunday at least!

Thought I lost one of the Columbian Cochins last night - my favorite little pullet, Bridgette. She just went missing, none of the other birds were acting strange...she was just gone. We spent a good 15 minutes combing the yard, it was getting dark and I was about to give up when I saw this out of the corner of my eye:

Found her nestled in some tall grass, sitting perfectly quiet, making a little nest!

Lifted her up and found the very first Columbian Cochin egg!

They're 5 months and 2 weeks old now, so it's just about time! I have it stashed in a flat in the basement, trying very hard to resist the urge to stick it in the 'bator...because I have a friend interested in some Columbian chicks, and the 'bator is running anyways

, those Mottled Cochin eggs from Frizzledhen are cooking away - I candled earlier this week and saw definite development in 9 of them

Good Evening Everyone! Had puter issues but think it's fixed now. Couldn't get on here all day. I almost DIED! I'm not kidding it bothered me all day. TO If I was to ever get a dog it would be a Terrier. If I were to get one from you it would have to be called TT Terri's Terrier. So that can't happen cause I was thinking something more along the lines of Butch or Rat. Or maybe Spotty. I have an absolute zero tolerance for stepping in dog poo and bubble gum. Annarie glad you found your hen and the surprise. Bigz sorry to hear about you Buckeye. Guess like you say you pay the price for free ranging. So it's hatch more to balance the losses. It's just hard to lose them. Thanks to all for the condolences! Went out and pulled the bean vines and the cuc's. Found enough cuc's to put up 5 more pints of those dills.

See ya in the morning I hope!

Friday Fish Friday to Everyone.... tonight it's a shrimp stir fry with aspargus (god knows I prolly can't spell that word) carrots, green pepper, mushrooms, onions, all served on a bed of rice.
The bow hunt starts in the morning...I'm ready and the crop of deer looks great. I'm out of summer sausage and farmer sausage....so I'm on a mission of sausage to share with the family, also in need.
Hope you'all have agreat week end. Take time to enjoy everything that most folks take for granted.

Just wanted to wish you luck on your hunt. If successful don't forget to thank it for giving it's life to you. May your arrow fly true and find it's mark my friend!!

Fish Boil downtown tonight! Man was THAT good! Thank you Knights of Columbus for an amazing meal!

Dr. H, I wonder if you and a terrier would get along...... they are independant little cusses and minds of their own..... but you CAN train them to do their business in a certain spot so you don't have to worry about stepping in the mess.....

Have a great weekend everyone!

There's a reason "terrier" sounds so much like "terror".

I think Dr. H would get along with one just fine!

Anyways...that reminds me - haven't any of you found someone looking for a Shepherd yet? Poor dog's getting bored down in the basement all the time...he's a great dog, aside from the fact that he's bossy with other dogs and he EATS small animals like cats and chickens...

OK...
My frizzle bantam chick is still having leg issues, and we have tried vet wrap, yarn and now large bandaids, she seems to have a leg injury or splay leg at 6 weeks old.
We started a week or so ago, and she has been confined with her foster/brooder hen in cage in the coop. The other babies are hanging out near by but independent enough to range on their own.
SO should I try aqua therapy with her/him??
She is standing better but really not wanting to walk on it.

I am not going to make the monroe equity sale on saturday unless they hang out till 1 o clock in the afternoon.

And our "silky" chicks don't look very silky.. more like silky crosses.. although dad looks purebred...could we have had another rooster come in and make clucking noises to
my hen?? LOL
grrrrr....I know I have 4 purebred, Mom and chicks

And other silkies-

and the black rooster looks purebred...

What do you all think?
