I can look for you but we are about 2 hours south of you, if any are there I can always get a name and number for you. We ended up getting Cuckoo Marans from a hatchery- 1 pullet survived and she is coming up on 24 weeks old so maybe soon she'll start laying.

Well second batch of dough on the rise. Think I killed the yeast on the first one, water was too hot. I could smell it. Used the thermo on this one. We'll see. Btwo has been crying all day don't know whats going on except they can see the others outside and they were there the last 2 days. We get some more warm weather and think I'll close off the big garden and turn em loose, should be a hoot! Need to make some lunch and finish the bread. It will include more pickles. Just dumped 5 1/4" out of the gauge.

WiscoChiko, I have 3 Blue Copper Marans but I'm sorry, I'm not parting with them.

Stormy, Smokey, and Calipso are their names. Very nice girls. I won those eggs in the auctions here on BYC this spring. Those 3 are what I kept.

And I know that you said that you wanted white egg layers too. And there again I am sorry, I have 2 Norwiegian Jaerhons but they are not for sale either. But those I got from the auctionier in Amherst. He may have some yet. If not, he carries them come spring. Those 2 are Honey and Bunny. In rememberance of the killed "Honey".

Making 2 loaves of banana bread for camping this weekend, while I wait to go pick up my kids later. Gotta finish getting packed today. I'm going on my first field trip with my oldest. (I always had the little one and couldn't go before.) So no time to pack tomorrow. As soon as we get home, we're off again.

It is just the same as always....everyone else gets the rain and we need it BADLY here! I was down hanging laundry and the cukes are wilted! My brussels sprouts are not growing with the lack of water either. Not wanting to get the hose hauled out again this late in the season...probably should just do like you DrH and clean out the garden and let the chickens in!
Mom dog still has no pups yet. She is lying down a lot today though so maybe tonight? I hope so...
GOt my Mums in and they look great! I also got the walkway gardens weeded and found my missing hostas and other mums! It is nicer to walk up to the house now.
Well, just came in to say hi--I need to run the loader through the barn...maybe we will get some rain tonight? DH is in Green Bay and this morning he said they were expecting another 4" today besides what they got during the night...that's a whole bunch of rain! Sounds like most of you got it by your places too! I hope those that are going camping for the weekend dont get wet! Might be the last nice weekend? Have fun!

No rain south of Madison, wind, lots of black walnut all over the ground, my car, the sidewalk... bleh...
Started my client's 2 yr old with the bit in his mouth today and surcingle with side reins on his halter... he has been saddled and lunged and had a bit on a few times this spring...
Now he is 2 1/2 time to start some ground driving and getting him to understand whoa/go/ right /left back and forward!!
In spring if he grows more I will get on him!!!
chickens seem none plussed by getting black sunflower seeds... more happy with getting bits of bread.. . silly chooks.
I don't want any super special marans!!!
A pair of black copper or cuckoo marans would be fine.. And I can wait till spring.
My light brahma is laying small white eggs and the bantams are laying mostly white... LOL

Soggy Evening to ya....with 4" in the guage at daybreak, and a constant fill er upper all day...we are good to go.
Hope you guys camping, have a good special time. I'm kinda camping everyday with the comforts of home.
I know you folks to the south are having great summer like weather. My friend in Illinois said totally sunny and 80 today....we were 60 and constant hard rain. The north woods really needs this....I don't....

Terri o , You can have all this rain, but they say lake michigan is still 2 ft. down so I guess we can all use it, I try to never complain about rain, someday it will be a commodity sp*.
WCC There is a lady on Appleton craigslist that has some cuckoo marans # is 920-410--0018 She is located between appleton and oshkosh. She also has buffs, barred, silkie, and maybe some others?
Bigz going for fish myself this eve. Love it! Great wisconsin tradition!

So I found out that at the portage county humane shelter, they will do fecal floats for any size donation! Well my birds have been just fine as of late, but still thought y not take in a sample? Did that yesterday and she called me back and told me --Good news you have no cocci, I guess most chickens have a lil? But you do have parasites! Well I already have my wormers, was just waiting till I got my last few birds so I could do the whole flock at the same time! Funny thing is she told me she has no idea what parasite it is? She kept the sample and said maybe one day they will be able to afford a parasite book(was some tech. name of the book i forget)
So I'm thinking-They do this for even a dollar donation, the least I can do is find one of these books and donate it!
Have a great day folks, Mitch

Rain rain go away, lets all send it Terri's way!

FM glad I could help (you to remember that song)

Windy WOW! I had to go retrieve garbage cans!

have a good windy day everyone!

Great idea on the donation of that book Mitch...it is probably really expensive or ya think they would have it? I hope the wormer you have takes care of the mystery critter!
We finally got our rain here! Actually it is misty and quite chilly this morning compared to the high 80s we had yesterday! Just goes to prove the old adage, "if you dont like the weather wait 5 minutes." (or something like that!) So I have to go and cook this morning and then am taking a client out for fish this afternoon. We will all be having a fish fry I guess! Very long day for me so I guess I better get to it! Hopefully when I go to the barn the pups will have been born! Terri O
