Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Yah Erin, my mom is from Oak Creek, my Dad from Cudahy. Aunt and uncles in Cudahy, New Berlin,'Tosa, Racine, South Milwaukee, and cousins all over and everywhere in between. ;) I got into some shenanigans in that area as a kid...

Bigfam, I just can't imagine you getting into shenanigans! ;-)

Did you decide how you're going to treat your chickies? I'd like to know what works...

I'm just going to do an amprollium maintenance dosing in the waterer. My local feed store, and Farm and Fleet don't have medicated chick starter. So I'm trying to be on the safe side with the chicks I'm having to brood now. The 2 that can still run with a mom I'm letting have regular chick feed. (Although I don't know how much they are getting because Jim the big chickens ARE eating it all because they are fricken chicken A-holes, taking crack candy from babies!)

I am also attempting to hatch out some more Wheaten Marans. The brinsea is fired up. So I'm crossing fingers I can get a few out of it. But really, I need like 10 chicks to feel like I'm on the safe side. I'm down to 4 hens and 1 crappy roo. I would like a few more laying hens and 1 good looking typey roo.

Erin,
Nice looking coop and helpers!

I hope it is choke cherry..it will be nice to be able to use them. Must be many variety's I have never seen. I am unfamiliar with that type on a shrub with large leaves.

I have 4 little tiny d'uccles out. One eggs is peeping and the other is quiet. It probably did not make it. They are so tiny. It also looks like one has bad legs. it is resting on its bum and not walking.

If you are interested, my fleet has medicated. Terri might be stopping by today or tomorrow. I think you are close to her? I could grab a bag for you. And send it along with terri. But lmk soon. I will be leaving town at 3.

Vicki, sorry about the one with bad legs :'( when I did terris hatch, I grabbed a couple of my own eggs. My fav hen from my sis. I think she is old. I cant get her eggs to hatch :-( the only one that did had bad legs. I made a brace, but it perished. I hope yours improves!

Thanks Mel,

It seems OK now. I looked threw the window and can't tell who it was. It might just have been exhausted from hatching. They are so darn tiny. They sure are taking there time hatching. Those last two eggs are doing nothing. OH well. Sometimes they need more time. I have porcelain and splash I think.

Quote: Of course a wise crack from JJ !!!!

Heather it's most likely water that she just drank and is still in the crop. I would think is she hasn't drank for a while and it vomits fluid or anything that it may han impacted crop or sour crop? I've picked up many of chickens and water pours out !! Don't think that is a concern unless of course they have other symptoms.

Cuties.. Thanks. But I'm an hour from Terri too. Portage has a TSC. I don't ever go that way. But I guess I'll have to make the trip. They should have medicated chick feed. But I'll call be for I make the drive!
