Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Working from home today-daughter had one side of her nose cauterized (other side to be done in 3 weeks) and it was bleeding during the night. THey said to keep an eye on her and if it does more than just drip blood to bring her back in. Yesterday the ENT Dr was a bit rightening-he kept talking about how he prefered to only do one side at a time so as to not perforate her nose cartiledge....and that so far, by doing one side at a time he hasnt had any issues. He then packed her nose and said to keep it in as long as possible (im thinking an hr or so) I mentioned this and he said oh no-try to keep it in for the next 24 hrs. SHe has horrible allergies and ended up sneezing it out last night. She has a bday party planned here tomorrow to swim so sure hope it heals quickly!!!

Work is becoming stressful-love my job but the one person I support, has a ton of work and isnt very organized-is suddenly throwing work at me right and left and all urgent...because he has left it for last minute. This has been going on for the past 3 weeks now. I sit on his stuff for weeks then suddenly its urgent and needs to be done asap.

So glad its FRIDAY!!!!

Happy to hear things are looing up for Julie! I also tried to check out the silent auction page and wasnt able to.

Cute chick pics!!!! Love the hershey baby!

Latte: Does anyone know if any of the following can be given at the same time: Eprinex, Durimycn-10, Corid, or Tylan??? Trying to figure out which order to address the Cocci, cough/sneezing, and possible roundworms (THe vet only saw 2 eggs in sample fyi-not sure what normal is?)

Barbian: Welcome to the cheeseheads!!!

Question... I know rberry sked something similar earlier this week...but wanted to modify the question... All my youngsters are 5 months old and approaching POL. Except for three guineas that are about six weeks old. Would you stay on starter food or can I move to layer food?

what a gorgeous day!!!

Jim ~ sorry about your hen. No clues??? Boy, I wish I had a place for those geese, they are beautiful!!!

Heather ~ ouch!

hope you are wrong and just really bruised it. Thought I broke my jaw yesterday too. Turned out to be a just a very "colorful" bloody spot near the front of my face. I really look cute this morning

These are my 3 "babies" now 17 wks old playing under my nanking cherry. They're upset because a neighbor on the other side of the woods is doing target practice and disturbed their nap!

This is the rooster "porn" I put up in the coop for the girls. I have a large poster from Manna Pro too but I need to get a frame for it. (BTW~the thing on the shelf is the remote sensor so I can keep track of the coop temp from the house)

This is my spoiled mutt, Noodle. She turns 1 yr this week. Can't tell from the pick but she has a few black feathers, silver grey legs and lays a light tan med. sized egg. What a mix, but she is a sweety!!! (except to the babies, but that just might be because she's so spoiled). If you enlarge the pic you can see where the nice rounded end to her comb is just GONE! Thankfully it is healing up nicely. Still no idea how she did it.

Now I need to go out and check if Soup and Fricassee (my 2 black star rescues) are done fighting over the same nest so I can put new straw in the coop. So funny. Soup is squacking up a storm like she just laid an egg and Fricassee is just setting in the nest staring and growling at her!

Nope. No one has gone broody. This is just turning into a daily routine for them.

Have a great weekend everyone!!!

Hey
What is a good price for Diatomaceous Earth? Right now I'm looking on Amazon. Is there anywhere nearish Milwaukee/Racine to purchase locally? I googled and found a feed store in Caledonia.. might check that place out. My 3 babes, getting big. Barney (white on the right) is huge. EnderChick (black) is the middle sized. FancyPants (EE) is the smallest of my 3, but probably biggest among my sister's chicks. I either feed them too much (tried FF for a week too) or randomly picked out the three burliest babies :) They're all so sweet though. So friendly. When I open the top gate, they wait for me to put my hand down, then they climb up my arm and perch. I had three sleeping chicks on my arm the other night. Adorbs. and I surprisingly haven't been pooped on yet, though they got the floor a couple times while playing on the edge of the bin.
Hey fleet farm sell it , I got a bag there

Starter..you can always add calcium to starter feed by buying oyster shells if they start to lay. You can't take the extra calcium out for chicks in layer feed.

When you have time there is posting by a Vet about this very thing.
It also has some interesting information about using antibiotic during cocci stages. (It says you should not use antibiotics because cocci will not resolve)
I never knew that.

Quote: Yep our Fleet Farm carries it and I think it is on sale right now... Somewhere around $14 on sale????

Colton, that guy sure sounds interesting with all the critters. Good friend to have. I will keep you in mind if I ever want some eggs. Right now I have my hands full with all of my breeds, Ameraucanas, silkies, RR, Doms, a bunch of mutts and other breeds, and of course ducks, geese and muscovies....and more Muscovy eggs.
Jim I was going to offer those sebs a nice home with their own pool. They can live with my sebs !!!!

Sorry about your peahen.... I lost my black shoulder hens (just dropped dead) an the black shoulder male disappeared !!! Seems like my one male must chase the males away.
The person I bought the black shoulder hens from told me to keep feeding them medicated food or they would die. Well I fed it to them for a while and sure enough when I quit they did die !!! ????? I have 3 hens maybe 4, but I never see them all at the same time and one has a baby with her, lost one baby last week, no illness per say just found dead. I know they aren't suppose to be on the ground but I don't have the heart to take it away from her. If it dies, I guess it dies. They are free ranging so it's not like they are stuck in with the chickens which causes the blackhead (is that what they get) from the chickens. The blackhead is passed on from the cecal worm right ? I do put cayenne pepper on the food in the peafowl coop which is suppose to help? Who knows, might be wasting my money but so far so good.

The farrier came over today and did six more of the animals. Didn't touch the two new donkeys yet. I need to find a football helmet with a mouth guard before I go out there and start monkeying around with there legs. LOL

ET started sifting sand for under the pool (that I should get up before the first frost at this rate lol) yesterday and now he is resting.... cause his back is so sore.... Typical around here... one step forward, two backwards !!! lol

Just got done watching Ricki Lake show. There was a young man on there that had stage three colon cancer at age 26. He had the tumor removed but refused the chemo that they recommended. He ate a totally raw food diet. All raw fruits and veggies, cancer fighting veggies and smoothies made out of coconut milk, coconut meat, berries and bananas, everyday. It's been ten years and he is still cancer free.... His name is Chris Wark I believe. He was saying everyone should go on a raw food diet even for a week to cleanse your colon and detoxify.... Man, I don't know if I could do it for a day let alone a whole week but it sure does sound like a good idea. I guess you can have nuts... that would help.
I think I'll look into it BUT not committing to doing it quit yet !!!

Stopped at a boat dealer in Pearson yesterday on the way to the feed store, bought a fuse for the boat in case the fuse blew in the actual motor. Also bought a tester to see if we are getting juice from the battery. They said I should have called them first when we couldn't find the key (which started this whole mess) she said they have tons of keys they could have tried..... Who knew, I did call the Three Lakes and Rhinelander boat stores.

I asked how much he would charge if those weren't the problems and he said about $70......

Down to one snowy mallard out of five..... I'm wondering if the Muscovy hen with her ducklings maybe killed them ? The mallards are a lot older then the Muscovy ducklings but ???? Otherwise there was no sign of illness and I am not losing any Muscovy ducklings now. ????? So I took the last mallard out and put it in with the magpies.
Looks like I missed the horse judging at the Wausau Fair. :(
Ok, my break is over..... bbl

Bet the girls love it... kind of like the Rooster Bachelor Poster.... Which Roo will steal their hearts !!!!

I'm envious of your nice coop... Yep I'd say your girls are spoiled.... That did it.... I'm leaving all of my feathered friends to you !!!!! Maybe my small dogs too...... Ok, well Delisha and you will have to fight over the small dogs !!!!

Gonna go see if ET is rested up enough to go to the lake and check the fuse after I was eggs for the bar. Hmmm maybe I'll be able to talk him into a FFF...where is Bigz btw?

Ok, I tried to find the Breast Cancer Bracelet to be on and Now I don't see it ?? Hmmm???
I added her as a friend, both Julie and her friend... oops forgot her name.

Anyway, think it is a bit confusing on where exactly to go to bid thus not to many bids.

Will try later.
