Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I am so glad I found cheese heads! Lol all the experience I am getting from you guys about Brownie! Thanks :) I was checking heated water dishes at fleet yesterday. I will look at buckets instead.

Clark, I was feeling a bit overwhelmed this summer with so many different types and mixed breeds. I have decided to have the layer flock of birds I love, and we have chosen a few breeds we each love to try to improve upon. Syd will be orps, I blrw, blake mg, hubby slw, and we all share the love of the Brahma. Go with what you live so you can still enjoy your birds.

I cant wait to go home today! Lol even tho it is chilly, I want to relax outside. The first day back on 3-3 is always the hardest.

Sounds like things are looking up for some!
Feeling mommy guilt today. Todday is a day that my DH works from home and we got a call that Andrews cough is getting worse and he has a fever so he went to pick him up. This is the first field trip of the year to Cave of the Mounds...I am sure he is devastated. Also second to last soccer game is tonight so that will bum him out too. And knowing Daddy..he threw him on the couch and gave him a remote and video game controller...Mommy would sit adn snuggle him and make him hot coco etc. Daddy just doesnt do it Mommy good. So I fFeel bad. Will see if I can switch thursday off for Friday so I have a plan if he is home tomorrow.

Put a timer on outside but it is ticking me off...why dont they make these things easy?? we got the light to come on at night, but not morning when I really want it on. grr. we got one egg yesterday with a dozen layers. my customers are knocking on the door and I am sending them away. bummer. hope this helps. Still have 4 I am waiting to lay that are close. we will see.
Smile everyone...it is Hump Day!

I think water at all times is critical. Sun up to sun down is only around 8 hours coming up. You will need to keep it from freezing in the winter. Usually it is hung up on the wall so they don't spill it. Just get a bucket hanger. Without water horses can colic. They need to keep all that dry feed moving through through their gut.

Del, I like the website from mobile ok. I still need to check from my actual computer.

A good way to ensure you can keep water from freezing too much is to put the bucket in an old igloo cooler and fill the surrounding area between the sides of the bucket and the cooler is fill it with styrofoam peanuts. It also keeps it from tipping over.
If you have electric out there you can get a "utility" de-icer or a bird bath de-icer, they have built in thermostats that turn them off if over 32 degrees.
Watch how much he is fed, I am sure you have been told that...
You can do a daily wormer or weekly one for a month or so, just rotate your wormers.
Ivermectin, Pyrantel Pamoate, and Fenbendazole or Oxibendazole
They have big names such as Panacur or Goldmectrin.. but you just need to look for those active ingredients. Also you need to make sure you don't over do it on him, you can make to where he will only get about a dose enough for 200 lbs, so each syringe will last a while.

If you want some one to keep him company, you can borrow my shetland gelding... he comes with a saddle and bridle...LOL (hint hint)

Here is a picture I made to show new chicken people what a molt may look like. Gavin, the rooster pictured, is not happy being shown like this but I told him it was for the people to learn. Well he isn't speaking to me now, hahaha. He is a Black Langshan.

TO - here is the Salmon Faverole/Buckeye cockerel. He is having a crow...as usual. Pretty thing though.

This is my up-and-coming Blue Langshan Cockerel. He is standing tall and giving me the stink eye. He is a sweet boy though.

Here is what having a meat chicken tractor fertilizing your front lawn does for it. Notice the bright green lush area and the lighter green browning grass surrounding it. Lawns love that chicken poop! Del, that's the splash roo in the tractor. He is growing fast.

My pretty blue Langshan Pullet. She is about 3.5 months, So feminine...

Ok that's all for today :)
