Hello everyone,

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile. Welcome to all the new WI members. I have been having the worst couple days recently. First I found out that the college I have been planning on going to won't work out because the campus only has full-time classes and I can only do part-time because of my daughter. Then all four of my baby ducklings died the same day and I can't figure out what went wrong with them. And lastly I found out my grandmother/best friend has cancer and if it's severe enough it will be a death sentence. She has constant staff infections in her lungs that require constant medicine. So if she does Chemo she will lose her immune system and die from the staff infection and if she doesn't do Chemo she will die from the cancer. So my life has been pretty terrible lately.

I just wanted to let you all know that I'm still here though.

Good evening to all--loooong day at work for me today. I took another job at the retirement center and am going to be (gasp) the waitress! It is not a bad job but some of the people are pretty crabby...one in particular comes to mind. Today she was angry because she didnt have a salad fork and her coffee was cold because I "poured it too early." And her husband-who never speaks cause she speaks for him-also had cold coffee...blah blah blah. GOod thing the boss likes me and doesnt listed to anything the residents say!

So Sunday I am going in to do their Christmas party...I am glad I am cooking and not serving!

SO DH says he thinks he has an old t-shirt that I can string up Buffo in...he is on the phone with Dell right now because my AC adapter for my new laptop went kaput...gotta go!

Well--now I can finish typing...I had to power down so the tech man could check something. DH says he can only catch 1 out of 3 words that the guy says so hopefully he is catching the "right" ones! I was afraid to lose my entire message so I sent it and will now finish it...problem is, I dont remember what I was going to say! Ha!

I cant believe that you are hatching more chickens H&R...I really have to get my incubator set up and do a test hatch too so I will be ready to hatch some GOOD eggs in spring! OK now I am going to go. DH wants an omelet for dinner--Yeah! Terri O

Hey guys!

I am having a blast out in Sheboygen, and guess what? The un-officially offered me a job there! And, if that wasn't good enough, they keep bringing up the fact that we should re-locate! So, I started looking at houses out there to get market pricing and guess what happened? Yup. I fell in love with a house.

A beautiful log cabin home (a brand new one! 4 years old!) and it's not too bad in price! 240k. Our home is worth 220k, so it's not much of a price jump. It's 3 bedroom, 2600 sqft, 3 bathroom, on 1 acre of land but overlooks 10 wooded acres. 3 fireplaces, 2 car garage, 12x12 shed. We can have livestock out there, and and and....I am so in love with it!! Hubby says I shouldn't fall in love with it, as the soonest we'd be able to move would be spring, and even thats a stretch and that home will probably be gone. SIGH. I know I shouldn't, but how can I not? I'm smitten!

Well, we are seriously thinking of moving out to the Sheboygen area however, so we will see where life takes us. It would be nice to be in a new home, as we aren't in love with this one and it will always be his "parents house". But, we are at that stand still time for right now and it's KILLING ME haha.

All that canning talk is making me think of next year already! I had a pickle problem too, I figured I didn't need to follow a recipe and over-salted them! Yikes! Although, now being pregnant, they are getting eaten!

I know next year I want to do a ton of stuff with the garden, and mostly from seed to conserve money! It's so fun to think of growing your own food, and making use of our resources! I wish we could have chickens here, but the ducks are pushing it. Now if the buggers would give me some eggs!

Lucky the turkey was big enough on thanksgiving....grumblegrumble.

Hey all, Long time no type.....I have been checking in, so it looks as though you all are ok....
Cutting to the chase if you will, has anyone out there in cheesehead land raised the infamous Freedom Rangers? I know there are 400 plus pages but I didn't read through them, just not enough hours in the day, LOL. Was just wondering how they did up here vs other places in the country. If you have let me know, I would like to pick your brain a little if you don't mind. Thanks and see you all later!!!

TO, not a problem! They are not as 'nice' as Annarie's of course, but I think you could get some decent sized babies out of them. I'll take some pics after a snowfall in the sunshine so you can get another look at them.....

Not looking forward to the drive in tomorrow....... ugh, 5 AM in the snow.

Got the kids Christmas lists out of them.... I swear they all want iPod Touch.....

Good White Morning All! Weather map says it's letting up soon only maybe 2" out there. It's perfect for packing down in the driveway to give it a good base. DA glad to hear your keeping in touch. Settle down Raiquee, your eyes are glazing over.

TO L's going in this morning for B'fast with Santa. You know that DH only says that cause he loves you. Warden

GC so sorry about your G'ma that's a tough thing to go through. A no win situation. But sometimes miracles happen! Hoping it does! Amy how's that baby doin? Lots to do today. First have to go get L's car out and warmed up for her. Gotta go.

A white morning here this morning (our first of the year) and the chickens are sure it's going to kill them. Poor kids. How long before they brave the white flakes, I wonder.

My chickens winter inside big stalls.
My home on the other hand.. and useless roommate.. he snowblows places for winter, but helping out here.. not so much.
I wanted to bring in the snow blower, he said, oh it will start...
And then didn't put gas in it after using it... So here I am in the snow, 3-4 inches out there now, struggling with one good shoulder, a hand that doesn't want to work right due to carpal
tunnel, and trying to figure out why the snow blower doesn't work.. .
AND had to go feed horses for my client.. driving is fun when you can't get up a hill because its too slick.. all the cars had problems.
Wonderful DH met me at the door when I got back with muffins and tea!!!
I Luv him!!!

It's still snowy here yet this morning-DH is off to take care of the snow plow route. Chickens weren't sure of what it was but they came out into the runs any way!

Off to do some paper work and bake cookies with the kids!

OOOH...cookies! That sounds like a good plan for today H&R! The snow looks nice and the dogs seemed to love it this morning. Chickens are still in...I usually dont let them out until 11 or 12. pretty comfy here in "The Micro Brew." THat is the name of the coffee shop here in my kitchen. I just love it! It even has "free" WIFI!

Mr Buffo is doing well today. Got him slinged up in the cage. Here is a pic:

This morning he chowed on bread, pellets, apple and mash mixed with corn and BOSS. Now he is just hanging around "growling." Not sure what that means but...he is alive! I couldnt get the vitamin E yesterday so I will get some today when I go to town. I hope it helps him. When he wakes me up crowing then I will know he is better!

I have to make a cage for a cat today...darn thing keeps peeing on my bed!!!

She has been to the vet 2x and there is nothing ever wrong with her. She has private accommodations with no cats or dogs to bother her in our bedroom. It makes me so angry...I kind of just want to put her down...but she is very sweet and belonged to my MIL(now gone) Her other cat does fine in the GenPop (as DH calls it) but she is very shy and it might cause even more problems to have her with the rest...all I can say is I am so tired of washing bedding! DH says it is like sleeping in a hotel with fresh sheets every night...NOT FUNNY!

Last night we used two twin blankets cause I was out of them for our bed!

Hmmm---what kind of cookies for today? What are you making H&R? I am thinking Oatmeal Raisin or Molasses...I am not really in the mood for Christmas cookies yet! Alas, I have to clean the kitchen before I can do ANY kind of baking! At least my kitchen table is clear....
Raiquee--any chance that you can put a bid in on that house and put yours up for sale? That is the problem falling in love when you arent quite ready...you always compare that place to the ones you are looking at in present time and think, "if only..." Good luck--I guess it would be kind of hard to move while in school, pregnant and in winter!
We are getting more traffic here now...it is fun to hear what the missing folks have been up to. Sounds like all are keeping up--if not posting. Maybe they just cant get a word in edgewise with all our chatter?! About those Freedom Rangers...arent they the same as red stars, comets or Dekalb reds? I thought they all has similar backgrounds, they sure look the same....I have had all of those and they were some of my favorite birds. Are you planning on getting a bunch and pasturing them like the website shows? For meat? Eggs? I thought they were pretty small myself...keep us posted! (and good luck reading the 400 pages!)

Yeah, how is that baby? How about a few pics of the lil darlin'? You are not following up on your Motherly Duty! Us wanna be grandmas need pics! How is your other son doing with the big brother thing? That can sometimes be a challenge for sure!

Well, DH wants to do a water change on the fish tank and I am betting he is going to call for help at any moment! Talk later...do some baking and get out in the snow and have a fantastic time! Terri O
