Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

TO- I like your set up for the boy! He seems happy to hang out-like he has a choice!

The Aussie pup we are fostering seemed to like the snow-not sure if he ever saw any as he is 9 months old-he has been here for almost a month now and just let DH pet him a little the other night-DH was sitting on the floor on one side of me and TY was on the other and as long as DH stayed there, he could touch TY(he is very much afraid of men) but I could feel TY all tensed up and his heart just racing-poor guy-life started out rough for him!

Cassie our Irish Setter is such a girly dog-doesn't want her feet wet

we have to take her out on leash to get her into the snow otherwise if she is on her run line only goes out far enough to reach the grass to potty!

Well as for cookies probably mix up gingerbread and sugar so they can chill and work on choc. chip cookies while waiting for the other 2, I'm getting into the Christmas thing- seeing as how I didn't have to go out and remove snow today! Have to come up with something warm for DH as he will be cold when all done with the route.

Just have to put some stamps on the mail and get it out to the box!

Stay warm and enjoy the snow

Good snowy morning everyone! (Although when I am done typing this, it may be afternoon!) We got a good 3ish inches on the ground and it's still coming down! I am totally excitied because I don't have to drive to Sheboygen today and Ed gets to work and make money!
smile.png
WOoo! I am a little worried about Thurs & Fri of next week tho, seems like it's going to be more snow! Then I will be driving in it
sad.png
Boo. Oh well, someones gotta make money and it's not me right now!

TO) Aww your roo looks so cute hanging there! Maybe hes a growling cause hes bored with himself?

We could do that for the houses, but although I was offered a job it's not until March, and the bank looks at me as unemployed. And even tho hubby is working a job now, its a 1099, which the bank doesn't see as "solid" income. So, it would be better, loan-wise, to wait, until at least March when I am hired. I always loved the "new" log homes, and it's just my luck to find one NOW. Just to torture me. lol. Bad news on your cat too. I had a pair of cats that were the best cats ever! Until I moved in with my hubby (boyfriend at the time), and the house cat got them all out of wack. They peed everywhere! Finally last year I gave them to our sitter's farm, I just couldn't do that cat pee smell anymore. It's so stinky!!! Now we are pet free (as far as indoors) and I am loving it! No fur! Sure, I miss a wet dog nose nudging my arm, but I don't miss the extra expense, and extra cleaning!

GothChick) I meant to respond in my last post, but I'm so sorry with whats happening in your life right now!
hugs.gif
When it rains it pours, doesn't it? I know it's hard to see now, but things will get better...maybe they can get rid of those nasty infections just in time to get her some chemo?

DrH) I know, I just love torturing myself, hey?

Well I am going to go out to hang with my adopted sister, that is as long as she doesn't flake on me like the flake she is!! Maybe eat that delicious naughty thing called Sushi for lunch. That's our thing
smile.png
All this cookie baking talk may lead to cookie baking tomorrow!!! My ducks are snow ducks this morning. They have two igloos full of leaf litter to snuggle into and what are they doing? Laying in the middle of the pen with snowflakes stuck to them. UGH! Well, whatever. Maybe we'll have duck for christmas lol.

From the sound of it, the whole state got snow except us...not a flake! I know the chicks don't mind - what is that wretched, cold, wet white stuff, they squawk. Is it poisonous??

GothChick,

Raiquee, I know how that house-wishing goes. With the market the way it is, I wouldn't be surprised if that house was still there come spring. Now getting approved for a loan will be the trickiest part. Good luck with it.

TO, hope your roo heals up. He does look kinda funny hanging there though! Ya, my boys are doing great. DS4 is a good helper with the baby, not jealous, thank God. Logan is almost 4 months already, time flies! He is, as FM said, a chunk-a-munk! But I love when the cheeks stick out as far as their noses. He is such a happy baby, always smiley and he's starting to laugh now.

Here is a link to FB for pics, it's easier that way. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=73419&id=1250797019

I
just saw some gorgeous Christmas cookies on teh Better Homes & Gardens site. All this cookie talk, now just need some snow to set the mood.

have a good weekend, all!

ETA: I know BCC did some Freedom Rangers this last summer. Also an Amish WI farmer was one of the main suppliers of those chicks. Not sure if they're still doing that. Heard that they're great meat birds for pasture. I'd do those over CornishX.

Finally coaxed about half of the girls out of the coop. The others watched enviously as the brave ones feasted on some BOSS and bread.

Just got my first egg ever on Thanksgiving, and am now getting 1-2 eggs daily from the couple Marans pullets that have matured (the others aren't far behind, from the looks of them) and my token RIR hen that is a year old.

Pictured below from left to right are the last 5 days worth minus one cracked one.

Looking forward to seeing how dark the Marans eggs end up being. These guys are from B/B/S Cuckoo lines, so not from as deep a chocolate brown lines as the black coppers, but I do love my blue gals.

Can't wait to see some blue eggs in there some day from my trio of Ameraucana pullets (black, blue, and a splash one).

Hi all,

Just wanted to introduce myself- my name is Tasha and we live in Sheboygan with our 2 hens (and a Noah's Ark of other animals). We are keeping them in our fenced yard and purchased an Eglu Go which has worked well. Would love to hear from anyone else in Sheboygan or the area.

Tash!

GothChick, where are you going to school? Maybe I can help you out in some way..........

No snow here until I crossed the bridge into Oshkosh...... into a blizzard!!!! Ok, not QUITE that bad but I think we ended up with an inch over there. It was all melted when I finished work.

Still finalizing my cookie list for the year; I am waiting to bake them until after the semester is over with (I will actuall have some free time then...)

I am so EXCITED!!!!!! My DH and BIL are RIGHT NOW working on my raised duck pen!!!!!! It is going to look very much like the one OzarkBantams has. WHOOT!!!!
wee.gif

I'll get some pics and post ASAP!!!!

Hi everyone, haven't had much to say but like to keep in touch. Sounds like many of you had snow, we didn't get any-not that it matters to our chickens who are always inside by choice. We built them a nice big run and they stay inside ???? Oh well maybe eggs someday in the near future I keep waiting. Outside lights are up and started with cookies today. Maybe the tree tomorrow, DH will supervise that from his chair. I have been sewing lounge pants for the kids and sig others 12 pair (fleece). Also making pot holders and trimmed towels to match for my sisters and the girls. I usually make my own Christmas cards (50) but I think some will be purchased this year, we'll see how time goes. TO, your guy is so lucky to have you, not everyone would put him in his own sling and care for him like you do
bow.gif
. Hurley those are some good looking eggs, someday I hope to post my own pics of first eggs. Raiquee, we also are pet free in the house at this time and I agree about the fur and expense but........somethings missing. Have a good night and stay warm.

Reading up on showing some more, good winter mind fodder...

Thinking about Silkies as a show breed, wondering if anyone has any input on housing with intent to show. I don't have an outbuilding, so the options are indoor housing in the basement, garage, or building of a structure outside. Just playing scenarios in the head, like I said, good for winter mind gymnastics.

Just curious what's the "standard", anyone know?
