Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Those are nice looking ducks. I like the brown one with the white breast, what kind is that?
We had around 7 inches of snow over here and I love it. It took until Sunday before the chickens would brave stepping out of the coop. Even after I shoveled Sat. morning. I really got a chuckle watching them at the door just looking. Wish I could hear what they think. Going to get cold this week

Ok, don't get beef from US Beef! We had the ribeyes for dinner tonight, and YUCK!!! I got the salt and pepper that hubby put on them and then....nothing. I've never tasted beef to taste like NOTHING! Hubby says it's like the beef he got from walmart one time, that was injected with "natural beef flavorings" It was sooo gross. He's calling them tomorrow as we have a guarantee to taste, and he's going to say they taste like crap and to get our money back! Oh well, you live and learn right? I just never knew they could take the flavor out of beef. Weird. Hubby was like "Why would they inject it with artifical flavorings?!" and I just answered "Because, that's what American's have grown to like. Everything that doesn't taste like it should!" BLECH!

Just wanted to report in before anyone looked them up. lol.

Evening all:D We got about 5 in. of snow & of course the plow broke so hopefully it will be going into the shop tomorrow and we'll have it back before this wkend. Heard more snows come'n then!

Guess I'm lucky cause our little Serama's stay inside all winter. We don't have to worry about shoveling out their pen.

Love your calls! We hope to get some Runners next summer. Love your pen too.

have a great night everybody!

Hubby's b-day today.

Made a big ole chicken lasagna that turned out quite tasty and just put the finishing touchings on a layered cake with a central strip of some strawberry compote I made from boiling down frozen strawberries with a handful of raspberries and a few blue berries and black berries for texture. Turned out so good, I've saved the extra for my toast this week. YUM.

The chicks contributed the eggs for the feast tonight, good girls.

Kitchen's clean, one baby is asleep in his crib, the 5 month old is bouncing happily in the jumperoo, and I'm just glad to put up the feet.

Have a good evening, all.

Whew! Just got my jammies on and my feet up after the Christmas party where I am the sometimes cook. What a LOOONG afternoon! That cement floor really takes a toll on the legs after a few hours. Everyone enjoyed the food though and we got lots of compliments. I brought red aprons for the cooking staff so we all even matched! Got some shrimp to take home too...I will have to make something delicious with it tomorrow night.
Raiquee--I just groaned when you typed the first message about that beef! We have that guy stops by at least once a summer...same story "overstock beef!" What a load of crap! We fell for it the first time too. You are right...how in the world do they take the taste OUT? It is probably from that beef that looks like Mr Muscle. THey are genetically engineering steers now to grow more muscle! Saw it on line just yesterday. Those cows look GROSS!

They had it shaved down so you could see the muscle groups...poor thing!
So as soon as I finish my glass of wine I am going out to lock up the animals and then off to bed for me...glad I dont do Christmas parties for a living! Terri O

(PS) Adorable baby Amyable! Thanks for sharing.

What great pictures gang. Love the baby and we had a spiderman here for Halloween too! And those ducks... nope not allowed to enjoy them or my Dh will shoot me. One step at a time.

we got about 5 inches south of madison. Was surprise that it only took about half a day for the chickens to come out and brave the snow.
Well had to disappoint my little boy today and told him that his favorite chicken ( the Hulk) was a rooster. (now he was a cool looking bird and he named him, but he was not a friendly bird like our other chicks are) So we ventured out to the farm today and brought Hulk back and ended up taking 2 chickens home. My son was going to pick out a replacement and wanted another white one ( Hulk was a delaware)but in going through her flock, we found a very gentle young tan/red one. Might be another red star but it is more tan than red compared to our current red star so not sure. My daughter fell in love with that one so we had to take 2 home. Luckily we are zoned for 6 birds and n ow are up to 5. Hoping for some day olds in the spring. And to figure out the breed of the new white one. Single comb, white and roundly plump with tan ears. Not as friendly as our other birds, but will get there I am sure. Will have to get used to my 4 year olds shoving treats in it's face.

Well better go check on them one last time.

Have a great evening!

Thanks everyone for the comments on my Calls! Only one of my ducks is from a breeder, here on BYC in fact, that would be the magpie marked bibbed duck in the front of the others (the black, gray and white one). The rest of the ducks are from efowl hatchery. If anyone here is ordering from them, be prepared to WAIT or order your babies VERY EARLY.

I must say that I did not think these babies were as fragile as I keep hearing about. They arrived as 2-day olds and were completely healthy are hearty right off the bat. Could not be more pleased!

We had flank steak tonight with sauteed 'shrooms and onions that had a pan deglaze done with red wine. To accompany the steak we also had corn, French bread, and rice. Of course mom enjoyed a nice glass of vino herself!

Off to bed so I can start the rat race again. I think I take my camera to school so I can take pics of the Marine tank set-up I have been working on.......

Night all!

We may have found THE HOUSE....
a realtor I had contacted who's company puts ad in the Great Dane, a local dane cty free paper that is delivered....
He sent me an email because I said we are looking for property that has a shed, or anything with acreage.
Well we took a look at it today, its a foreclosure, and has some things that need to be done, but... it has an out building, fencing up already for livestock..
A great shed that would make an awesome chicken coop!!!
8+acres, 1500 sq, and its minutes to Madison... for under 150K....
so.. OMG.. time to make some phone calls.

Carol
