Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Evening All...good job with the hatch H&R. This early in the season that's not so bad. Ten is at least worth the effort, eh!

Starving wild turkeys are flying in daily now in the early afternoon for some corn....ain't no way they can walk though the snow anymore.

I'm a 80f guy during the summer months....not to hot, and shade is plenty cool enough to relax in.

Poor folks in California sure could use our 3 plus inches of melted snow for sure. The farmers really have it tough there compared to here.

Good to hear you had a good safe time TO!

The sun is finally moving up the sky. I had a pinch come through windows in the big coop this morning that have been void for months....bring on the longer sunny days, we deserve it after this long stretch of wind and cold.

Isnt that the truth BigZ! I have noticed the new angle of the sun too. It comes into the house differently. I really remember that when we used to eat at the kitchen table every night when the kids were little...I always had to switch my place so I didnt have that sun in my eyes!
Tomorrow I have to take my Foster dogs in for vetting and spaying (and those cats that were dropped off too) then drive to West Allis to pick up 2 quail and then back to Madison. I am so glad that I have a day off and I get to spend it in the car!!! Oh well, it's supposed to be COLD anyhow!
I am very tired again after a 12 hour day working...so I will wish you all a good night once again! Sweet dreams too! TErriO

Hi All!

Jim... A dyslexic chicken wouldn't surprise me at all! It would fit right in with the rest of us! LOL 3 of us here are dyslexic, must have rubbed off!

Nothing new.... night all!

Cind, she's just trying to fit in,

yesterday I got a call from Dorchester that the processor could do our geese today if I get them there by 8 AM.. short notice, but we are up and will be ready to catch them as soon as we get cuppa'd up..

I have 9 of them to catch..

bro Dave should be arriving soon,, we have to leave here no later than 7 AM ,, 43 miles to drive..

will let you know how everything goes ..

ETA:

we were back home by 10:3o AM ..
had breakfast at the Abby Cafe in Abbotsford..

we have to go back late on Wed ; or Thursday morning,,

there were Amish women working there, IDK if the man was Amish or not .. He was not a chit chat man.. a man of few words..

I think Annie kept the wrong goose for Dewey, the gander .. No matter, he will learn to love her ..

we also kept the 3 Sebastopols ..

thanks Bigz! the cold does seem to play a part in the hatching for sure. So far all babies are doing good- even the last hatcher!

Have to get the incubator cleaned up again- have the second one going with some Cuckoo Marans eggs- will have to candle and see what is developing- not sure if I will switch them over or start a 3rd incubation of Andalusian eggs.

working on getting a unit ready to go today- painting and cleaning up all the dust from the drywall repair- have to have it ready by next week Friday.

no bunnies yet- both does are at day 32 unless of course they aren't pregnant

will wait for till Sat just to make sure....

best get the paperwork started before the kids get home. The middle/high school had the water main break on Sat and 3 rooms in the middle school part were damaged- DD didn't have school yesterday and now today thru Friday they will be holding classes for the middle schoolers at area churches- will see how her day went!

Well we have the incubator fired up and holding steady. Eggs are all here and going in tonight. We have some andalusians and marans(thanks Cheryl) a couple of silkie eggs from Carols birds and a friend gave me two cochin. Everyone is questioning fertility so fingers crossed we get at least a couple chicks for Morgans science fair project. We need to start working on the verbiage and pictures etc.

Otherwise I just need to clean my house and get my seed starting stuff out and moving. My moms 77th birthday is this week so one of my sisters and her hubby flew in and we are going to have a party for mom this weekend. Trying to get stuff figured out for That. And my best friend called me today in tears that her father had a biopsy for cancer today and she is totally upset. thinking happy thoughts for her.

Ok...time to get my kids off mine craft and onto homework while I prep dinner!

I've got a hen sitting on eggs and unhappy when I remove them! Otherwise same ole same ole

Carthage starts back tomorrow and I had a few eager workers show up today. I'm gonna have more workers this semester than I have work, but since we are packing up and cleaning out for our renovation I have to have them on hand for the professors to use at their leisure! We are filling up our dumpsters and garbage bins just as soon as they are emptied, so that is progress for sure!

I'm loving the van, but still not used to driving it.

I could really use someone (BL4) to make yummy desserts for me. It would be a great de-stresser. Maybe I could con the girls into making cookies?

I'm with Jim, 80 degrees and sunny would be perfect. With the cold that we've had this winter, I hope it has killed off the skeeters and other nasty buggers. I'm really looking forward to planting the garden.

78○ light breeze and mostly sunny. But clouds when I am in the gardens! I BURN!!
All is well here. Excited for blrw eggs to hatch. Hope I have a better amount without single combs this time around!! I have two breeding pens not laying :/ I have tons of people that want the Sumatra. And suddenly they are on strike!!
Del, I will be needing to up my want list from you! Imagine this, we are in the market for alll these roo's! Marans, white silkie, and orpington. How many people ever need roosters?!
Things are pretty well here. It is very empty in the coop. Still have a ton of the rescued bunnies. Man, nobody wants almost adults! They have healed nicely tho.
Kristi, good luck on the project! Sooo exciting for the kids :)
Hens n roos, good luck with the marans!!
Jim, this Christmas you can serve each guest a goose.

CS, if I ever manage to land a job I'll make a trip down there and make a delivery. Besides, I would like to pick up hatching eggs some time this spring.

Had a haircut today, had about 4 inches taken off.

Nothing else happening here.
