Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

There is a chick season for retailers. These guys don't have the self control to stop hatching, so chick season is all year for them!
I hatch similar to Delisha. Dry incubation, move the eggs that are ready to hatch to a "hatching" incubator with temp a couple of degrees lower and higher humidity.

good afternoon,, i made it to town and back. so far there is no adverse weather going on around here..

some more snow slid off of the garage roof.. again, I had the birds locked in their coop.. they don't seem to mind it..

I cleaned all ten nests out and put fresh shavings and kitty litter in them.. that should keep the eggs clean for about 3 days ..

the birds went through 10 gallons of water so far today..

I watched something on TV today about "too much information"
according to that program, I guess I am guilty of this trait..

Quote: you are correct in those cases..they are not going to have a bunch of chicks in the store all the time. They order a few times a year. Many order a dozen from hatchery's to be delivered.
there is no such thing as chick season here..
I would suggest you get yourself a coop built.. build it much larger than you think you will need..
then put out a shout for chicks.. these enablers will fill it up for you in short order..

bring a box to the bash and get it filled up ..

I see the pizza cutter is in the lead....

My accomplishment of the day: maintenance on the two fish tanks. Took 10 gal out of the big tank and 5 out of the little tank. Cleaned out the filters, replaced the charcoal, etc etc....... I think the fish are happier but I am sure it is a shock to have this giant hose come in and make the gravel dance. The kittens were fascinated with the entire process, almost to the point of being underfoot.

No baking today!

The DH and I vegged out together watching TV waiting for the weather to do its thing.

Stre, listen to Jim, he is 100% correct. Build a giant coop, you will have it filled in no time flat.

Roads are ice so I am skipping out of kickboxing tonight.

Del- I'm definitely going to the bash, but I'm not sure how much of my family can come this time. DD13 has a graduation band performance and DH has work Saturday. DEpending on the performance time, he might just come in late again with her. Why do you ask?

Hi Strevale and welcome!! I love love LOVE y quirky lil easter eggers....they are inquisitive and friendly lil things and mine have been great layers I have one currently that insists on being picked up when Im in the coop....and will follow around hoping up on roosts, ladders, saw horses, etc chasing me till I hold her. Then she rumbles and coos at me the entire time I hold her. I fi happen to pick someone else up she pecks at my boots and eyeballs me till I pick her up!!!

Terri O: How is Tommy doing? Any better?

Supposed to be getting 12-18 inches with this storm; chickenship is heading out now to plow in the dark :-(
