Happy Father's Day to all dads, grandpa, etc....so thankful to be able to wish my dad that!

Kids and I went to the hospital yesterday to see him...he didn't know we were coming so it was a nice surprise for him. He is doing better- getting stronger and is now able to eat puréed foods and drink thickened liquids so that his throat muscle can react fast enough. He is still on anti-seizure medicine and will be possible for the rest of his life so when they give him is dose at night, he gets things mixed up- that frustrates him. We all know that recovery will be slow and only time will tell to what level he will return to. So thanks for all the thoughts and prayers!

Last Sunday, we went and helped celebrate my Aunt's 100th birthday-she is my dad's oldest sister. She looked very pretty- my cousin and cousin in law do such a fantastic job of taking care of my Aunt- she lives with them yet. My Aunt has good days and not so good days. At the party, she didn't talk much but would smile at everyone. I had my kids stand by her and took their picture.

Not sure what we will get done today....still haven't planted our garden yet and not sure we will

Enjoy the day!

Sam, that is amazing building skills!
Cs, this is where the name game comes into play. Make yourself more entertaining then the grass on the otherside. When you follow him trying to get him it is a game. If you run away calling as you did while teaching the name game, that want to come to you will kick back in. AlwAys play the name game. Even when he is ten. Do it just for practice. He will always be like a child. You need to repeat over and over. Or he will forget the learned behavior.

so what is your recommendation for a dog that comes when called but runs past you instead of stopping by you? Our Aussie does this...

Cind, when did they put it up for sale? Recently? It is an interesting piece of property, it looks like the house needs updating, and they are asking quite a bit for what is there. I know land sells for premium prices, but this seems excessive.

Cuties, you will have to clue me in on this 'name game' training tool. I have always taught the dogs to come.

Congrats on the hatches!

And a Happy Father's Day to all the dads on here.

Hens and roos, I am glad your dad is improving!
Does your aussie have a favorite toy or treat? 10 mins a day work with that toy or treats. When calling, do itnon the flexi leash at first so if he wants to run past you can reel him back in. Put the toy/treat at knee level.
Mis, it is almost the same as teaching come. I differentiate the name game from come for 4-h kids. I want the front (recall) to be kept seperate from just getting your dogs attention and body to you. This way the dog doesn't have to come sit in front. Just to you with focused attention. It works awesome for out in the yard if you want them to come back but not do the recall. We call it the name game so kids (hopefully) remember to not use the recall word (come, front, here, ect.)
It is hard to teach the kids to teach the dogs to listen to verbal commands and not body language! Heck, it is hard to teach a dog to listen to verbal instead of body language! But thats what the obedience is all about :D It is challenging and fun for me :)

Happy Father's Day to all the dad's here!

Having thunderstorms continueing from last night. And downpours of rain. And we just started to claim our yard back...

One new red gden pheasant hatched, another one is zipping and 3 more piped. Gonna be one noisy house for a week! (The high peeping screams of pheasant babies hurt my ears and cause headaches) plus still have our 10 younger ducks still in the house... Chaos!

The big ducks just enjoy the rain outside, and one group even found a way to roam as we did have them all locked up. He is chasing them back in the enclosure right now.

After some french toast for breakfast I'm ready to head back to bed. This rainy weather really makes me tired. But, I gotta clean out the condos. Dirty mess in there. Shall be back...

Interesting Cuties..... you will have to show me sometime. I taught the oldest dog hand signals along with the commands so I did not have to say the commands all the time; helpful now since she is going deaf. Fonz is a completely different story though

too many trainers 'helping' and of course that Terrier attitude!

Doing a photo shoot down at the theater today, they would like me to do some promotional shots for Wedding rentals. So, the oldest DD is dressing up in my 'trash the dress' dress and we will have a little wedding photography done.

I wanted to post a picture of my free range rabbit. She dug out of her pen a couple of weeks ago and I haven't bothered catching her. Actually, I have chickens in her cage now, so nowhere to put her anyway. The poor thing has been hanging around in the woods too much and the mosquitoes have been eating her ears all up. I did grab her the other day and put some belly balm (for horses) on her ears. Isn't she pretty?

Happy Father's Day!

Pretty bun bun BBP...someday would like bunnies again! Busy weekend and coming up week. Needless to say I am losing my job again here due to stupid budgeting by the owner... Basically one of the vp's wives just had a baby and was a lawyer and does not want to go back to work for legal first full time so our owner thought he would get rid of the the entire Hr function and use my salary to help with the expensive salary she wants. Awesome huh!
I am heading to the biggest national convention for HR people next week so going to make up my eon business cards here and network like crazy. So I work this week, convention for a week. Go back for another week and then I am done. Get to spend summer with my kids again so that part is ok.
The other chicks might be hatching today. One out and two more eggs under mom...we will see... They are three days younger than the silkie mix.

Happy Fathers Day all!!!

Candled the eggs last night (7 days old) and OMG at least 26 look viable. I was actually able to see a lot of movement inside the eggs! Its looking like I am going to have some extra SQ Salmon Faverolles to sell this summer!! I am thinking of trying to set up breeding of these next year.
