Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

The cop told us if we shoot a dog call him. He'll bring it to the owners. But if we can catch it, they'll get a $100 fine and have to pay for all of my dead birds. I'm leaving them all locked up tomorrow and putting the trail camera on the coop. If its coyotes they are horrible hunters. This was definitely a case of killing for fun. One of my chickens had a broken wing and the bone was protruding through the skin. I had to have my husband kill it. Poor thing

It's on! I want whatever did this dead. We will be having a big coyote hunting party if that's what it turns out to be. The killing is happening between 8 am and Noon so we will be on the lookout this weekend.
are you sure you would want to catch such a dog ?
How would you go about it if it is not too friendly ?
Or what if there are more than one dog.. that I would not even try..

14 turkeys hatched .. 89 to go..

Speaking of dogs, SClark how is your dog doing or did I miss it?

I suppose when there is bad news you will get good news...... Julie's Calls that she got from me have had babies!

So Maggie has a few grandbabies over at Julie's house. I cannot wait for pictures!

BigZ, you just let me know when you want Ross to show up to fix your tractor..... I mean for me to pick up the salad greens...

He has Wed/Thurs off....

Speaking of the DH, spoiled him tonight with dinner. Sirloin steak with boiled baby red potatoes, peas, a salad of mixed spring greens, and strawberry rhubarb crunch with vanilla ice cream. Gotta pamper the poor guy since his over-educated unemployed wife is not doing much in the way of supporting the family.

BBP, I hope you find your chicken killer culprit.

Cuties, Ang had a WONDERFUL idea for a fly mask for Brownie up on FB...... we just need to know what cup size he needs..... since he is so small I am thinking AA or an A might work.....

Yup. Brat is my SO's son from a previous marriage. And he will leave on Monday afternoon again. Thank goodness! Not sure I could take much more of him and his laziness... Not even speaking of the tons of soda and food that guy can inhale!

Peepers all still doing good, besides my Pekin. Got some regular iodine on it and will start putting anti-bacterial cream on it a few times a day. Also got finally some vetericyn and blue kote. Just in case and for future emergencies (hopefully now that we got it we won't need it!). Will see how that does.

BBP I would definitely put up a trail can and still sit there with a paintball gun. Oops! I accidentally got the dog! *evil grin*

Gonna hit the hay now. I'm beat and not wanting to get up tomorrow already...

HI all!

Bbp... Wow that sucks about the dog or what ever got your birds! Hope at least some of the MIAs are found safe.

Nothing new here.....Night All!

Rudy is alive but now pees and poos in the house and spends alot of time on leash or in kennel, it really sucks what it did to him. He's been a perfect house dog for 3 years and has never messed in the house until this. He's losing weight also, I hope he's not slowly dying, I would feel terrible for not putting him down. He is very energetic though and seems to be in good spirits other than the messin in the house and losing so much weight.

I found somewhere on byc about legs problems in chicks. This is not splay leg but I read about a broken part of a leg and how to fix but I can't seem to find it again. Whatever the word it was called I think it ended in an "sis". It's not Mereks either, it's been happening to a few of the chicks lately that I have been leaving in the brinsea longer than I ever had before. I had a tendancy to take them out one by one as soon as they were dry and now have been leaving them for all to hatch and it's only happening in 2 bators and I am blaming it on the flooring. I will be putting shelf liner down for the next hatches or just taking them out sooner. They limp with one foot up and you can see that all the toes are stretched out straight and they whine in pain when it puts weight on the leg, it's happened to about 4 of them with the same symptoms. If I can find out how to treat asap I'll try otherwise I'll cull this one but it is a blrw that looks to be nice.

Well one sportsmans is completely loaded with 18 dozen eggs. I candled the guinea eggs that were out of the monster bator and I still have 19 live chicks in there, the temp spike killed the rest(11). They are due to hatch this coming Wed. so I hope they were formed enough that the heat didn't do any damage to their growing and deform them. Other than the one with the bad leg, the 6 chicks I managed to save from the monster are all running around and healthy.

Horses got out yesterday while I was at the visit and tore up everything, got into the tack/chicken shed and ate one bag of egg mash. Spent all afternoon putting all new fence up and while we were doing it my pony just kept busting out, I'm thinking by the looks she's going blind or something. She's 20 yrs or better and just kept walking thru the new fence. The horse flies are terrible this year and driving the horses mad, I'll have to make up some of my home made fly spray during daylight hours and get them covered this am. I'm pretty sure I was having a heat stroke while doing fence, puking and shivering although I had sweat running off me and clothes were drenched. Kids yelled at me to go in and rest but I had to get it done, it was put off all week. I think I put on over 1000 miles this week doing visits and running to dr appts and other errands. I hope to not have to leave the house all weekend so I can get some things caught up on. Like mowing the lawn that still hasn't been finished one time this year.

Daughter and bf finally moved out yesterday. When I let them move back temporarily it was only suppose to be until June 1st but they couldn't find a place to rent affordable besides the bf doesn't like to stop spending money they don't have. I don't like the kid at all, he does have a job but is very lazy and sleeps all day long. I don't have any respect for him or the way he treats my daughter so I give them an ultimatum to be out by this weekend or he was leaving. All he wanted to do when he was sleeping is sit out in my daughters car and listen to rap music louder than hell until I told him I was going to break his fingers if he didn't stop. Glad they are out for sure but my daughters in for real heartache when she wakes up and realizes this kid is not where she wants to be in life. She used to be such a organized responsible person but since him got fired from one job, quit another to work at weathershield with him and has overrung many credit cards to the point she can't get any due to such bad credit all in the last 3 months.

And back to the baby daddy issue, I don't expect him to not have visitation. I just expect him to follow the court order to receive it and not have tax payers provide everything to him and my daughter when it clearly states they are to provide and support the baby on their own. Had a long talk with the worker about the meeting and she put some of it into perspective but I still don't like it. I came up with a good plan to not cost the state any extra money, it all is coming out of my pocket but my stubborn daughter won't budge an inch on anything. All she has to do is get her butt from Eau Claire to Chippewa 2 times a week and I'll drive the baby there but she is fighting me on it. I also will provide her my car if she pays for the updated reg. and insurance so she has transportation that way she can't use the excuse of not having a vehicle. I told her to get more hours at work on mon, wed and fridays as those are not visit days and she refuses. She's working part time thru a temp agency cleaning at Nestle in eau claire but it's only 3-5 hours a day. She can work more hours if she really wants to but she always has an excuse for everything. I don't know how she plans on even thinking about getting the baby back with that low of income. Besides they can see her negativity to do a little more than she is doing and are holding it against her, which they very well should. The good thing I heard is daddy is bonding well with baby during his 1 hr visits and that makes me feel better. My daughter on the other hand cannot take care of basic needs unless being told to do so. She doesn't have any motherly instinct when she cries, baby eats every day at noon and she still can't tell a hunger cry and I have to tell her to feed her every time we have a visit.

Anyhow going to try and get back to sleep as I havent' slept much this week. Hope you catch the chicken killer Yvette and get your pipes fixed Judy. Hope everyone has a good weekend.

good morning,
Stacy, doesn't your sportsman have two thermostats ? if so it should never spike .. set the backup one to 100*F and use the primary one to regulate the high low setting.
not recommended, but you can do this even with eggs in there..
it should be done before you start any incubating ..

had 14 turkeys in the chick tv.. one is dead this morning.. a couple more are in the bator drying off.. this does not look like it is going to be a good hatch..

I would call the guy to come and pick up what is here, but he didn't leave a phone #.. and I didn't think to ask.. He knows what the hatch date is, so I expect him to come and check.. he doesn't live that far from here..

no cuppa today.. blood pressure has been too high.. let's see what no cuppa will do about it..

some chickens are due to hatch ..I don't see any yet.. again, these are not eggs from my chickens.

there is another guinea from the long strung out hatch.. not due until a week from now, but these eggs were stolen from a nest, so some of them were sat on and ahead of the rest ..

Your right it has the electronic and the wafer back up. The guy I bought it from had it already set up so I didn't have to do much other than bought 2 digital probes thermos as on the one they weren't synced. Everything seems to be running like clockwork so far.
