we are a lively group. we all think we know it all, so ask any question you have, and soon you will know all that we know..

where in the state are you ? we have people scattered all over the place..

many of them are chicken outlaws.. living in towns where chickens are frowned upon..

I am rural, so I can have as many as I like.. and often that is too many ..

Thanks! I'm located in Central Wisconsin, near Waupaca. We have about five acres and are just far enough on the outskirts/edge of the country that no one really cares what we do. One of our neighbors about half a mile up the road has chickens as well, so that's pretty cool. :)

we have people in your area.. they will let you know exactly where as soon as they check in.

lots of us have been to each other's homes ..

every year we have a get together near Clintonville at a church camp.. It goes from Friday to Sunday. make plans now to attend next spring.. some of us come for the whole nine yards, and some come for as long as they can.. Saturday is the main event day .. raffle, white elephant and lots of pot luck food..

I sell lots of guineas, and some chicken chicks.. I gave up on the turkeys, geese and ducks..
If I ever do ducks again, they will be Pekins..

I also have a pair of Maremma LGD.. large white dogs similar to the Great Pyranese ..
that puppy in my avatar was one of our puppies..

Hi Merle and welcome!
Yup, crazy duck lady here, although we have pheasants and chickens too. Am in NW Wisconsin, far off the beaten path (by Hayward).

Gee, now the rain of the dang storm found us! Pouring but all the kaBOOM is south of us. Ducks are gonna love it as the driveway is already pure mud and now some more water on top. Happy mud puddling guys! Gonna have some brown ducks later...

Woke up this morning to find SO actually cleaning (!) out the condos!!! Guess I should have taken a pic of that one... Not sure if it's gonna happen again anytime soon...

Nothing else new so far besides muggy and muddy. Did I mention it's muddy and raining yet again?!? Not sure Mother Nature knows what to do this "summer". And a high of 58 on Monday?!?!?!? REALLY??? Time to dig for a jacket in preparation. Brrr.

Oki all, hope you won't get rained out too

My grandpa has a cabin in Hayward, on a swampy trickle that connects Lac Courte and Whitefish. I'm glad to hear there is an annual get together! What does WI have in regards to chicken shows? Is there much activity here for that?

Road trip today! Went to see Julie ( who is looking fantastic btw, rocking her short curly hairdo) then since we were in the area ( youngest DD) we popped over to see Amyable and her brood. It was very nice to see both of them and check out their little farms. Thank you ladies!

Got to hang out with these two as well.....

Frenchie has some idea I was picking up a horse today..... I did SEE a horse..... ;)

Merle, welcome! I am roughly 7 miles east of you on 10, in a closed-minded little town that frowns upon poultry keeping. I have some call ducks at my in-laws though, and cannot move out of here quickly enough.

Sticky waiting for the clouds to burst.......

good evening,

I just sold 8 of my Delaware chicks. I didn't want to, but $5.oo/each is hard to turn down..

I thought the rain would quit before dark, but it hasn't yet..

I got the camera all charged up and the memory card in it, so maybe I will get enough done tomorrow to warrant taking pictures of..

going to play cards in a little while.. just waiting for my ride now..

Hi MerieMice! Welcome!! Were you the lady that came to my store yesterday? (I'm near the Red Mill in Little Hope.)

Yesterday I counted beaks before locking up the coop and, Rhoda Morganstern, one of the RI Reds I got from Cuties was missing. We searched the back and didn't see any evidence of what the hubs calls, ahem, "fowl play" so I thought a hawk/eagle got another one. (Last week one of the small IBs went missing and we think a big bird picked her up.) I went around the barn calling her and I hear her soft call coming back to me - she was stuck down in the silo. Don't ask me how she got there - maybe she flew up to one of the branches overhanging it and it couldn't hold her. Anyway, the hubs had to go in the barn and pull off all the boards that covered the opening to the silo so he could crawl in and get her. Whew! I would have been very sad to lose that sweet girl!

I love seeing all the chick pics! And I am sooooo jealous!
