I was busy at one of those marathon job interviews again today......

WOW... was BYC down all day?

Nope, everybody just wants to read, nobody wants to post.

I just came in.. I finished my pop door..

these are the two pulleys which guides the rope..

this is the door in the closed position.. I added that piece of steel plate to act as a counterweight to keep the door closed tightly ..



this is the door in the open position..

note the hole just to the left of the door,, that hole has a lot of real big bees in it..

I screwed a piece of plywood to the inside of the door,, thus making it a hollow door.
then I drilled about ten 1/4 inch holes into the plywood and injected Great Stuff into each hole..
about an hour later the G>S expanded and forced the excess out the tiny holes.. this is the results..

 

[Hens and Roos]

Just finishing up dinner and then DD and DH have softball practice.

Things have still been busy around here (more like crazy), getting caught up on everything that needs to be done that kind of sat last week with fair. Had to drive my parents to my dad's doctor appointment in Milwaukee mid day- so we had a long day. We are taking it one day at a time and only time will tell how well he will recover.

All our turkeys have been processed and now reside in our freezer. Trying to decide if we want to raise a round of broiler chickens......

Extended winter has put us way behind. Not a lot of computer time ( non work ).

Cuties, from what I can ID the OE's 3 pullets 1 roo, BCM's: 2 pullets 2 roos 1 unknown. light brahmas....no idea .

What an easy work summer so far. A little on the buggy side but a summer of great work temps. After last winter, no way will I complain about a few hot/muggy days.

I love my LGD (Maremma) that I got from Jim. He is a sweet dog, incredibly smart, great vision, and has already bonded with the birds. Although Jim, I think that there is a problem with him growing up out in the boonies of Wisconsin......he barks mostly at black people! What's up with that?????? LOL It is the strangest thing.

Alice is still getting picked on by the older girls. The poor thing just can't fit in

How long should it reasonably take? It seems like torture.

you will notice more and more that he will pick up on body language .. If it seems to be out of the norm, he will notice it..

Gus is fine with most people, but some just move wrong and he goes into instant mis-trust..

new people cannot make the first move to be friends.. the dog has to check them out for himself before they can pet him..

Busy here. At least the 12's are over for now! I can't wait. 3 weeks of vaca next month. Wonder what it will feel like!!
Jim, nice popdoor. Ours is simple. Lift a piece of wood and attach the eye hook. Gilatine style.

Jim... love how that stuff bubbles out the holes sometimes. Little bits of abstract art!

CS.... Can you isolate the worse aggressors for a few days? It may give Alice a change in the order.

No more chicks hatched. However I pulled the eggs and left them on a pile in her cage while I went to get something to put them in. When I got back she had most of them pulled under her again. Maybe she knows something I don't?If they don't hatch tomorrow I'll pull them again. Storky's should start to hatch tomorrow too.

I get my new used van around 1:00!
