Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

What do you think about this roo? I know photos aren't the best but it's what I have. I am planning on going to get him in Red Wing tomorrow unless someone tells me he's horrible.

Hi All!

Sclark.... He looks fine to me...... but I know nothing about "standards"

Hope he works for what you need him for.

Nothing new or exciting for me. Hope I didn't miss anything important from someone.

Night All!

Clark, if you are in a bind for one, go for it. But he is very small in the back end. Looks like a decent sized spur. So he must have adult feathers. That are more orange... not much lacing. His legs dont look bright yellow. And the hens around him do not seem to have good quality...Maybe get him for now, but keep up the search.
I wish I could help you out :( i think it is hard to find a good roo. I only kept one from all the chicks we had. The others had one thing or another I didn't like. I am learning it takes a LOT of growing out to get a few very good.
So maybe he willnthrow a couple of good chicks :)
Good luck!

Well Melanie I'm hoping that for now my girls will help make up for what he lacks. I've been searching hi and low for a new roo but no luck so far but him. The girls aren't good around him and the owner has made it clear to me that is why she is going out of breeding them as she has many other breeds besides. You picked out every fault that I had figured, but against my Zeus he's a bit better.

there are a lot of young cockerels being grown out right now, for next years breeding I would make contact with all breeders of that variety in the midwest and see what will be available shortly,,,,I learned the hard way it's better to be patient, do the research, and get the best possible birds if you are intent on working with a breed,,,,,just my .02

Stacy, when are you needing this rooster? I'm seriously considering going to the Portage show in September. If someone was willing to bring one I could pick it up. Just a thought. I'd ask you to come along, but I know you can't leave anymore due to some animal care issues when you are away.

Sorry for losses everyone. Things here are ok. Adjusting to new job. Someone gave us some tickets to packer family night so ewe are planning a little excursion up there this weekend.
And all of a sudden my bantam leghorn who is tiny is going broody. I don't know if she can fit more than an egg under her.silly girl.,she keeps trying to sit com the other girls eggs and falling off.

it is finally RAINING!!!!!!!!! We need it here desperately!

Youngest DD's birthday today, so we had baked french toast for breakfast, pizza for dinner, and one of mom's cake creations for later tonight. She wanted a Nutella cake so that is what she got!

No ducklings yet. We will check again on Thursday.

... It was going to be everyone elses chickens that got bugs not mine
The Chicken honeymoon is over. But they are fully dusted. I know many of you do not like Sevin and or DE,but that is the route I have gone. Now I need to start looking at poo. I have read where there are lice there may be worms.... Grrrrrrr. We are planning a trip to Seattle so that may be a good time to worm, if needed.
Kristi enjoy family night a very reasonable $$ adventure but a little over rated scrimmage. Are you spending the night or heading home samedau? If you have time I highly recommend Bay Beach a small carnival ride atmosphere and very inexpensive.
