Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

good afternoon, now I have 7 new keets in the hatcher..
and, the cluck finally has at least one chick ..I wonder if she would want some guineas to take care of.. more importantly, would the keets stay with her ? tempting to try it.. maybe try a couple..

Ugh We are having an "Family Open House" at work today so Meghann came iwth me-makes for an interesting day! Expecting 1000+ people to show up plus our usual 3-4K employees :p. Meghann and I are volunteering for a booth.

Pretty nice, they have 15 stations set up with jump houses, dinner, multiple carnival games, then stations explaining heart devices: home, hospital, follow up care, as well as our giving out gift cards, backpacks, water bottles, then "The Works" museum is here with multiple S.T.E.M. projects for hands on activities etc!

Did I mention we are also in the process of having out house re roofed today? And leaving on vacation to the cabin Sat?

Time for another quick cup of coffee

hello,

beautiful birds!

I was looking at the Portage show, might have to try and talk my husband into attending, or else head up with my son, I know he'd love to see it....

our little "gimpy" buffy that came home was dead in the coop last night. back down to 7 now.... hopefully holding steady at that.

found my egg place I wanna get from, waiting to hear back from the lady now....

lots of hawks by us, never seen any come in too close yet though, our coop is pretty close to the house though. did see a hawk up the road from us flying with a snake in it's grasp once, VERY cool to see, wish i'd had a camera... would have no doubt crashed trying to take a pic though. kids got to see it too, even cooler to a couple little boys.

good luck with the foster mom for the keets jim! have heard if you stick newbies under them at night it works good.... this is just hearsay though... then of course you're not there in the morning if they peck the heck out of them...

Went to Farm Technology Days today. Watched the mustangs perform (two were for sale). Checked out the tractors, and grabbed a bunch of miscellaneous info. A pretty nice day for it. Oh, they had me find the Grade A egg out of a half dozen eggs. Not as easy as you would think once you have been eating farm eggs for a while!

Some pics.....

good afternoon,
the foster hen is no longer an option.. once the eggs started to hatch, another chicken decided that NOW she should take over.. big run around fight began.. I tossed the intruder out and shut both doors.. the hen then hatched out another chick, but it was not under her and we put it into the brooder.. I don't think that one will make it.. then there was another egg that got stepped on in the skirmish ,, put it under the hen, but a couple of hours it still did not hatch,, so I peeled it and tossed it into the hatcher..

I got the roto tiller fixed and ran it back and forth over the dead furrow area.. then I took Ollie and back bladed the loosened dirt up the grade. did some fancy bucket work and the job is done..
Annie said it looks like a city park..

I think another picture should be taken..eh ?

...OK, I went and took a picture of the soon to be reclaimed lawn,,

..
not too good of a picture,, It is after 6 PM and the shadows are deep,,

all that greenery to the left is the oats and newly seeded alfalfa field..
at the far end of the field is our road ..

Hi All!

Still haven't found that hen turkey, I'm going to try to go to the back corner of the lot tomorrow and look. Got real worried when the 3 Amegos (Pepper's kids) weren't in the coop when I did chores. That hawk and kids are too close! But they were in at lockup time.
