Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Cute pictures Jim..

I wish you were closer, I would probably get a male. Cookie needs a play mate.

If anyone wants an Orpington calendar, please message me. On facebook there is a competition for pictures chosen for the calendars. I can't post it here.

I hope everyone ate well for Thanksgiving.

I will have Buckeye eggs in spring or when you have a broody. They are not laying yet but coloring up. They are also not in a breeding pen yet. Everyone is free ranging.

Kristi, look at it this way. You can pay $200 for a wireless system to contain the dog, or you can pay excessively more in vet bills or roaming dog tickets. ;)

Nice Packer Win...Brady was less than happy, eh!

We are going to have pork sirloin roast in the oven tonight....venzun chili is always good...we had a huge kettle during deer hunting last week.

Need to add some more straw to the coops today....way to dang cold for my liking.

Posting on the wrong thread....LOL....must be the whiskey....it'll do that you know?

Prolly go out and get something done while the sun is out....it helps a little bit.

Hmmm... 5 bcm ( 4 roos & 1 pullet ) 5 oe ( 4 pullets & 1 hawk dinner ) 4 lb ( all pullets )

Only egg layer at this point comes from the ones banded as oe. Gold lacing & feathering....laying
light brown egg. And yes...looks nothing like other three oe pullets....2 greys & 1 grey with barred features.
Maran & ??

All is good. They are very happy I let them have one of the rib cages from deer butchering, Regardless of cold temps they have been
outside working on their new treat.

good Packer Sunday morning,
having a cuppa and wondering what to do .. Plucker project is all done,,
In my head I am thinking about building another one.. there is a way of making the wooden frame without any metal fasteners. sort of Quaker style.. I have it half built in my head already,,

started setting a mouse trap at the bottom of the basement stairs,, averaging 1 per day,, 4 so far.

for you cat people,, honestly, do you still have mice in the house ?

our cat does not know what a mouse is for..

Yes, Gus is the father of the puppies..
One of the males died during the night,, they do that sometimes.. Dora lost one last year also..

......jiminwisc..........

Our 2 cats hunt the mice, but haven't caught them.

Brady looked as if he had Tourette's!

Chilly evening everyone.

Sad start to the day. Come to find our rooster Studmuffin laying dead in the barn with 2 of the girls roosting not even 2' away from him. All the girls are fine, just no clue what happened to him. So might just have to do with the one Ameraucana roo for now. And maybe down the road. Who knows?!

Ducks and geese and all else are doing good. They meanwhile keep waiting by the gates in the afternoon wanting in by themselves. Lol. They don't like the cold much. I'm sure they're glad when it warms up a bit again after tomorrow and maybe even get another bath day in this weekend.

Just got done talking to my grandma. It's her bday today. Unbelievable that she knows grandpa for 70 yrs and is married to him for 65 of those already! Almost unheard of nowadays unfortunately. Still happily married and together. <3 wow

Nothing else new here. The young ducks actually starting to pick up laying now. Last month we got from 1- 5 eggs a day. Now for this past week we keep getting 4-7 each day! Go duckies! Now slowly just starting to figure out the breeding groups and to separate them accordingly end Jan for breeding season. We shall see how this new venture is gonna go!

Over and out for today. Stad safe and warm everyone! Later...

Hmmm. That is so peculiar. The oe were marans roo and America na/ cucko marans. I did have a few of the oe chicks that were black like the marans. With the gold leakage. But so weird they have lacing! We do have sl & blrw. But you saw the breeder pens. Fort nox! Not sure what happened there...
sam, sorry about your boy.ni amnsure it will be easy to find another roo!
very cold here for sure. Gladnto be relaxing inside!

Sammie, I still have that other EE roo here running around all lonesome.

Glad I'm not the only one Yvette who made an order.. I got 10+ Crested Cream Legbar chicks...At least they are guaranteeing 7+ pullets in the mix. Better percentage than hatching would be I'd think and I don't have to worry about incubating shipped eggs.
