Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

The cat food donations were from my Canidae rep. She's always really good to me. So, it's a ton of cat food and it's good cat food. I feed my cats Fromm, but I do feed my dog Canidae and Fromm. I actually split the food between a rescue and the trap, neuter, release organization. The rescue said they go through 600 lbs per month! They also feed some colonies that are feral. But they have spayed and neutered them all so its a very good thing they are doing.

Hi All!

I am amazed at the guinea fowl in winter, for a bird that comes from basically a hot climate, they sure do adapt well. Them, the turkeys, and a few roosters are all that seem to come out. The girls (chickens) will come out for breakfast and run back to the coop. I think there are a few that don't even do that.

That's it..... night all!

Sunny morning all!
Not much new here besides the ducks and chickens enjoying the warmer daytime weather. Even the chickens were out yesterday! But with it having been a clear moonlit night it is very chilly out right now. Barely 5F and it wasn't supposed to get below 14! Oh well...

Everyone else is doing good. Still no luck on finding a pellet stove (no surprise there) or selling our lp furnace. Just give it time I guess, til the wood runs out...

@Stacy he don't want another rooster right now. But if u pack him up and innocently come by with him I'm pretty sure he would keep him ;)

Planning on making Xmas cookies today. Maybe a german cheesecake too. After a chocolate chip banana bread last night. Can anyone say: bake mad?! Lol

So off I go into baking flour land. Later!

good morning,

all coffee'd up,, raring to get going..
I had a good start on the plucker yesterday,, planed a lot of boards and got all the pieces rough cut for the legs.. 4 legs, 3 pieces for each leg = 12 pieces..

I took the time to get about a dozen clamps oiled and ready to go..

I am making this plucker frame fastener free.. that means no screws or bolts.. all notches and dowels .. lots more work, but the frame will be prettier..

the puppies are growing visibly every day,, their eyes will be opening soon.. It still amazes me how those blind babies can find their way to the dinner table..

Gentle Winter Day here....perfect for getting a lot done outside today!

Worked most of day and then fired up the grill for some steaks tonight....my nap is closing in fast now I'm thinkin.

I remember when fromm foods delivered all my dog food once a month back when I had my kennel going....it was a nice service and good feed delivered to my garage. I was working full time then, and it was a must.....I would always get cases of canned food to mix with the dry...my dogs were always in top shape...better than me ... spoiled healthy dogs back then for sure. Nice memory bbp...thanks for stirring it up!

I love Fromm. I'm on an employee pet feeding program, so I get my Fromm for free. Canidae is a good food too. They invoiced me for that donated food and then credited. It was over $3,500 wholesale. Pretty generous, especially since I didn't have to furnish any type of tax document. They just sent it, no questions asked. They didn't even ask where it was going. The distribution center also had some invested in it, and trucked it here for free. So, pretty cool. I'm sure those cats will appreciate food that's not mostly corn and has a high quality meat base. Even though some think the cheap cat food is candy and prefer it.

I stopped at a friends house tonight. He gave me a hen and 6 newly hatched chicks on Tuesday. I stopped out there and played with his goats. He has a really nice Alpine doe that I just love. If he ever sells her, I will have to have her. My husband said if I don't get another dog I can get goats and keep a couple of pigs over winter next yIear. Big decisions to be made around here. Not that I need his permission . . .

well just got done posting pics in the forum below...come join the little farmer that was inspired and is building paradise for the birds...chicken pens, pheasant pens, peafowl pens, ponds for ducks...come follow thedays of the little farmer...thanks again...n ill see you tommarow..

Hi All!

I'm cooking 2 turkeys and 2 small hams for DH's church Christmas party tomorrow (Sun). They smell good.

A little hen didn't go to coop in time last night (Fri)and I didn't know it. DH let Rudy out to potty about 3 am and he chased her somewhere and I couldn't find her. Neil said he saw her in the morning before the others were let out so she's OK.

That's it..... Night All!
