Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hi All!

Since most of my girls have not been going out (their choice) I broke down and got a bag of grit today

Oh well, they probably picked most of the good stuff out of the yard anyway.
It was about 4:30 by the time I went out to feed and water, walked in, turned on the light, set down the water jugs and there's a fat little mouse running around!!! No one, not even the guineas went after it!

I even threw scratch near it hoping the birds would see it.... the mouse got a good cheek full

They eat the dead ones I trow them. Dumb birds!

Well, guess that's it..... Night All!

Warm Afternoon All...yep, I keep a small feeder full of grit in the Winter too Cind....one would be surprised how often I need to fill them....but..I also feed whole corn for treats...so that would maybe cause the need for the grit.

Yep Stacy, I was referring to the winter coats of the weasels....hope you can catch the culprits.

Nothing seen hunting yesterday...prolly head out later only cause it's decent weather for a sit in the woods.

good afternoon,

I have two hours to take it easy until the glue sets up..
this morning I planed all 4 legs to exactly square.. sanded all four sides of each and then made the end caps for each end of the legs .(top and bottom). I glued them all on and that is why I am waiting for the glue to set..

It is just maybe possible that I could have the frame completed by tonight,, maybe..

I have to run to Menard's or F&F and see what size of dowels they have..

Brent, better get that sausage deer before it turns cold again,,

Cind , sounds like you have a new furry pet..

'55,, sounds like you are burning out.. take a break and regain your enthusiasm

If you are going to get dowels for their roost..don't.... Chickens don't grasp with their feet like birds/etc. They just sit on their feet to keep them protected and warm. You need 2x4's with the 4" side up for them to sit o

point well taken,, but I don't use these dowels for roosts..
I am making a plucker frame out of wood and using tennon joints and dowels for fasteners.

this is the first of four legs that I have just completed,,
I glued on the end caps, and then I rounded over all the corners..

..
this is how the tenons will look after assembly,,
this was a trial fitting before I glued the leg pieces together,,

Hi All!

The fuzzy friend didn't come out to play tonight, but then, I went out earlier.

Nothing else new, sure was nice doing chores in this temperature!

Night All!

Hey all!
Feels a little like spring! I wonder if we will get a white Christmas. We are even doing chores just once a day now!
We finally were able to get the tree last night. And went for a hay ride and visit with santa. The kids had fun with the projects offered.
I set the first eggs today for the fair chickies. They are late. And we don't have many. Just trying to be patint.

Well checked the traps this morning and whoever said rats, Bigz was that you. I have never seen any signs of them here but we caught one. Mean as ever, hissing and throwing itself around in the cage when I was taking a picture.
