Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hey all... sorry I lurk more than I am on. I am looking for some info that you all may be able to help me with. We are looking to find a cabin to rent around the dells or maybe an hour from there. ( we are 30 minutes south of madison so looking for a 2-3 hour max drive with the kids). I grew up going to a cabin every summer way up north near hayward and it made a great impression on me. HUbby and I are not campers... sorry, need a bed and a shower! We wanted to share that type of experience with the kids... maybe eventually going that far north when they are bigger, but they are 4 and that is just too long. ANyway... we are looking for a nice cabin that is hopefully on or really darn close to water for fishing and canoeing, woods for hiking.. that kind of thing.

Any suggestions?

evening everyone,

I may be moving to Camulet County in the spring. Any pointers for some one like me(a WI virgin). How is the job market up there?

The only thing I've been told is that I'm crazy and that I'll need a new wardrobe

Hey MustlvrJ...welcome to WI...i dont know if South Cakilaki is a real place or not...anyhow I probably do agree on the new wardrobe...especially if FM keeps doing that darn snow dance! OK I just did a bit of a search and it must be SOuth Carolina! (oh I am smart) SO anyway, my DH (who is unemployed right now) says that the area you are looking at should be OK for jobs. (of course depending on what you do!) I assume you mean Calumet Cty? We have some of our peeps around there.
Speaking of the snow dance, I am happy to see that this guy is dancing again...

at least he was in FMs post! He is one of my faves.
BCC--my incubator is a hovabator with still air. The website said that it can sometimes have problems if the room temp varies by moore than 5 degrees and is more pronounced under 65-70. Our house is NEVER as high as 70 unless we have the wood stove going...and we havent all winter because of the chimney problems. I am wondering it it would help to place a heating pad on low underneath the unit and only turn it on in the night time? I dont really want to cook the eggs; and I am not sure if they are good anyhow--I only saw Mr Silver mating once. (perhaps they are more secretive than chickens?--that wouldn't be hard!)
It sure is nice now that my nose isnt freezing together when I go out to do chores...thinking about getting the blankets off of the horses too. I would hate for them to shed early!
Well, off for the evening shift. Tomorrow I am checking on a lady in the AM and them taking the day for ME! I am so excited! Have a nice night! Terri O

(PS) BL4--my daughters got me a massage certificate for my birthday...I just have to figure out where I want to go...

check out the dells Christian Camp grounds, it's about 12 miles from the dells and has everything you want. Not to mention the "owners" are my best friends. I've been going there for 15+ years. pm me if your interested in any info!

FM stop doing the snow dance! I like snow but only till mid Jan. then I'm done!

Welcone, and you will be in my backyard! Do you have an idea where in Calumet you are aiming to roost?

As far as job market, it depends on what you are looking for. The Weather is not THAT bad!!!! Not like Alaska!

my advice is go get a fan, they are easy the put in and your temp will not fluctuate so much even if your room temp does, fleet carries them and its one thing that is interchangeable, or get one on-line, a fan makes hatching much easier no hot and cold spots

Us Wisconsin folk sure are nice here, stay awhile!!

Isn't WI in general one of the highest percentages of unemployment? I may be wrong, just thought I heard that (compaired to other states) Like I said, I could be wrong.

My job interview seemed to go well!!!

I had a quick interview with HR, and then went up to talk to the lab supervisor, which I felt a lot more comfortable doing as I knew her so well. I feel like it went well though, but won't know anything for awhile at least.

Hubby is going to get DS into the doctor tomorrow. He's being unbelieveably crabby, to the point he has blood shot eyes from throwing so many temper tantrums! So, we are going to take him in, have him check out his eyes (didn't know kids could get blood shot eyes...my eyes are ALWAYS red in the white area...so maybe hes taking after me) and just to make sure his "cold" isn't turning into worse things. The cold he had both me and DH got, and it was a fairly wicked cold but he has had his longer and it's kinda flat lined, not seeming to taper off that much. Better safe than sorry! I just feel so bad, (and so does my nerves from all the crying!) you tell him ANYTHING and he starts crying!! I asked him for a hug and he started throwing a temper tantrum!!! That's not my normal little boy.

Although he has been putting naps to the wayside lately, and then by 6 hes over-tired. I hope hes in better spirits when the little one comes!!

mustangluvrjen & 20123001....#'s guy, eh! Nothing but great people here. Glad you found us. Hope you can make the bash in June.

Good Luck Raiquee,, hope you get that job!

Doc, are you still a little peaked from the Packer Party? If you are, I'll crack one for ya and drink it too! This heat wave we are having is giving me a Summer thirst. I need to clean the chimney and stove pipes tommorrow. I'm just talking myself into the messy job. Need to get er done though.

Off to listen to the Pres tell it like it is..... Be Safe.... ~ bigzio

Hey kristip-
We have camped quite a few times at Castle Rock lake. There is a lot of places with cabins and I think it will be a little quiter than the Dells. The Buckhorn state park is really nice, not sure if they have cabin though. Good luck it is so fun thinking of summer.
