Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Wow what a great baseball game tonight...can't believe they play tomorrow night when the Pack plays...gonna be flipping back and forth for sure.

Great job on the kraut bl4....it's amazing how many people I know that make their own. We prefer to freeze ours rather than can it, and yes it still stays crunchy after being froze...I'll be making ours next week. What is your ratio of salt to kraut...just out of curiosity ..... ? Suzies cousin was here yesterday and said he did a ten gallon crock full...I could not believe how much salt he uses.

Go Royals.... bigz

Not that you asked me but I'll answer you anyways...I use a half cup of salt per 40lbs of cabbage when I do kraut. Nothing compares to homemade kraut.....it goes on pizza and everything

Just finished making my appetizers for the game tomorrow night. Even made homemade butterfingers for desert. Hopefully the game is as good as I'm thinking it will be. I took off work tomorrow night and everything for it.

So all my chickens stopped laying about two weeks ago, when can I expect them to start again? The only ones laying are the RIR that just started about a month ago.

Chickens need about 14 hours of daylight to cycle egg laying. Maybe a supplemental light in the coop would speed things back up. I have a light come on at 2 am until 8 am everyday to supplement the shorter days. My girls are still laying at 50% so I'm sure it's helped a ton

good morning,

If your chickens are already laying, then just adding the light should keep them going.
If thy are not laying, it is hard to jump start them in the fall..

I leave a light on 24/7. I am trying to jump start 6 black pro's that I got this summer.. they have about one more week to start laying or they are going to freezer camp..

GO PACK

Thanks everyone for your imput on the light.....so, it seems anywhere from 6 hrs to 24 hrs and they will start laying again. If you keep light on 24 hrs, when do they sleep? Don't they need some darkness?

they sleep just fine with light on..
and if they are not laying, their least worry right now is sleep..

I am going to hang the ax on the wall in the coop ,, just as a reminder .. that is my incentive program,,

Packer Sunday to everyone...glad you posted your ratio core...when I crunch the numbers it comes out to exactly what I use....2 Tablespoons per 5 lbs of kraut....it makes the best kraut with that ratio....in my opinion.

The Pack should be ok tonight against Denver...however next week is another story...nothing like being able to prepare against us like the New England cheaters get to do, not having to play this week end, and
a ten day study to prepare.

GO PACK....
