Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hi All!

Sure was a nice day here, too bad we'll have 3 days of rain coming. Adam (2nd son) came over and helped with a couple of chores. He leaves Wed. to go hunting with some buddies. If he sees any, he will get it! As he had to brag to me today, he still has "it". Apparently he went to the range to sight his rifle and shocked the target checker that he got all 6 of his shots in a 1/2 in. cluster, just 1, 1/2 hole in the paper! lol But then, he was an expert sharpshooter in the Marines

DH brought home 5# of red potatoes and some bacon. Think he's dropping a hint?

Night All.

Way to go bigz!

Jim, sorry, the Packers apparently forgot there was a game today- especially Davante Adams.

@BayBay Peepers are you on facebook? There is a Wisconsin Chicken Buy/Sell/Trade page on there as well; it might be a good place to look.

I made shrimp and bean enchiladas for dinner tonight- it will likely be enough to last us the entire week! I also made homemade caramel corn and cranberry nut bread earlier today. The holiday season gets me into the kitchen. Hubby cleaned out the chicken coop; it was overdue. It is hilarious when it's clean; they are always so suspicious of it. Luckily a handful of scratch or some mealworms gets them in every time.

I did find one yesterday thank you. The good news is I believe I found a seller. They have eight extras for me to choose from. Now cross your fingers integration goes well. I've never had to add a rooster :)

I don't have any buffs but I have quite a few blue & black English orp roos that are very well mannered. As for integration, adding a boy to a flock of hens is way easier then adding a girl. Good luck and sorry to hear about the weasel attack. They are devastating little SOBs.

Hey all sorry I've been MIA been reading up on here but haven't had the time to comment. Been quite busy and not all of its been good.

Last week was a tough one my 7 week old 50% english black orp and orp mixes got cocci and I lost three chicks a brother and sister mixed pair of orp/ccl and a little orp cockeral. It was a pretty bad day. Boom boom boom. We just couldn't get the medicine fast enough. They were absolutely fine the night before one was dead in the morning, one 10 minutes after we found the first, and the third died it my arms that evening.

@celticchick I couldn't help but see your message to BayBay Peepers. If you still have them in the spring/summer and would like to sell one I might be interested would have to talk to DH2B. The two little cockerals we lost were supposed to be replacements for our silver laced wyandotte roo who I'm on the fence about culling. He's a great roo with the girls but for whatever reason likes to charge at us and particularly me. Anyways I planned on being able to breed the orps well I managed to save two pure pullets and a mix out of the six chicks but of course I lost the cockeral. We are getting some hatching eggs from mypetchicken, so we'll see what I get. They're the eggs for education so I could possibly get an orp although he wouldn't be English.

Also baby sat for my best friend aka her daughter(my niece) who's 4 months and for my almost two year old nephew(brother's son) last week talk about a crazy day. ;) colic-y teething baby(Mommy forgot the oragel) and wild child little boy it was interesting to say the least. But gosh do I love them. Then this weekend DH2B and I helped my future brother and sister-in-law move and took care of their 18 month old little girl. Gosh is she smart as a whip! Talking up a storm and so well behaved. It definitely put my nephew into greater light as all he says is Momma and Daddy. After moving it was my nephews birthday party and they announced they're expecting again. I'm happy for them I am but they don't truly have the time to work with their son and teach him now but we'll see. I can't wait to find out what they're gunna have ;) everyone keep your fingers crossed for another boy as we're in a race for a girls' name lol and I need a couple more years.

Yesterday was a day for working around our house winterizing and such also working on the new coop. Should be done before much longer if the weather keeps up. I hope so will be much nicer and mor spacious. And next weekend we're picking up a sectional from some cousins who're getting new furniture. Which will save us from having to buy one this year. Yay!

I'm putting them on CL as I do not want to feed 5 extra roos all winter. If you take one now, you can have him for free.

@celticchick
Thank you for the hug its definitely been a week for needing that.
Let me talk to the DH2B tonight and see if he'll approve. Thank you very much for your offer. :) how old are the roos you have? Jw

Also where are you located? I'm in south central Wisconsin

The roos were hatched the end of May. They are first now starting to crow.

I am near Mukwonago off I-43.

I also have a black/lav split roo who is 6 weeks younger.

well, looks like winter will be here soon,, sooner than we like,,

i was in a foul mood today, I think the Packers did it to me..

Nothing seemed to go right. I started the day with a lot of things to do and I ended up running late to every appt I had,, then I realized that I was NOT late,, I was an hour early,, I was going by the clock in the truck.. that's right,, I did not have it set back one hour.. It still is not set back, but at least now I realize it..

good news.. stacy,, Bo has been found and is back home,, somehow he ended up 45 minutes away in the next county,, some people were spotting him at about 7 AM every day,, they were worried that he was going to go after their chickens,, they called the cops, and somehow got his owner's name and called her,, funny thing, they must have had him captured in order to read his tags.. but they did not hold him,, they turned him loose apparently.. anyhow she went there at 7 the next morning and called to him,, He came running and was very happy to go back home..
