Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

feels colder today than yesterday.

we got a piece of mail offering us extended warranty on our 2003 Honda crv ,, I told Annie it was a scam,, she still wanted to call the 1-800 number to check it out.. I kept telling her to just leave it alone..
finally she called the local Honda dealer.. guess what they told her ... IT'S A SCAM !! she never believes me until somebody else confirms it..

I got the truck battery charged up and it started right up.
the fixit guys said that the battery is too small for the truck. I figure if it holds a charge and it starts the truck, it is adequate ..

I almost have all my money saved up to buy the 200 chicks I want to get..
Now I want to buy a ton of feed in bulk..
save some more $$$, jim.

That's awesome you have the capacity for that many birds. What is your plans with all them?!?!

100 of them will be cornish X pullets.. for the freezer..
the other 100 will be special blacks.. egg layers..
I want to raise them to POL and see if I can sell them for about $15.oo/each..

I have room for many more if I want them,,
but I don't want to use all three of my coops.. I also have a couple of pens with no roof protection.. those I usually just stretch a tarp over for shade and rain protection.

I usually pen up some guineas in one or the other of those so that I can collect their eggs without having to search the brush for their nests..

the big one is 11' x 25' all enclosed including the roof.

we call it the fly pen..

I will see if I have some pictures of it..

Wow that's pretty awesome. I think you'll have no problems getting 15 a bird because that's cheaper than what people want on Craigslist a lot of the times.

..
this is while it is still being constructed before I straightened up the walls.

this is taken from outside at the short side.. there is a door on each of the long sides.
the walls are 8 feet tall..
the roof is complete here,,
difficult to make out any details with the trees in the back ground.

this is from the inside before the roof went on.
in the background is the sun room on the house.

Hi All!

Well, I learned how dangerous a loose piece of hardware cloth can be! I went to close up and noticed my favorite rooster sitting akwardly on the straw bale. When I touched him he flopped a bit and I noticed he was attached to a loose strip of hardware cloth. All his toes and a spur were through the wire and he and the wire were dug into the straw. If this happen outside or if something got into the coop he could have been lunch! He could have panicked and hurt or killed himself too. I'm also thankful all my boys get along so well, the other roosters could have taken him out real easy if they wanted. As it was, when I got him out and put him down, he limped a bit, but in a few minutes he looked fine.

I have a couple of Cochens, I don't remember where I got the one (I had her for quite awhile) the other I got from My Pet Chicken last year.

Night All.
