Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I just woke up from a short nap. I was outside working on the lawnmower and I think I overdid it a little. I was feeling queazy .checked my blood pressure and it was way low. I usually don't take my meds in the morning, will have to avoid that in the future.

The steering sprocket on the shaft was tight, put everything back together .. now all I can do is tighten up the cables.. I tested them and they seemed to be what the specs called for.. but I guess not.. the chain must have been jumping over the sprocket teeth ..

I just took a cracked stinky chicken egg out of the bator.
I thought I could smell it early this morning,, there was no doubt about it just now..

my tomatoes seem to have stopped growing. I have the Amish Paste . Never tried them before. might never try them again..

.
Be careful. This heat is dangerous. Make sure you are getting enough water.

Right you are, Vicki.
I am waiting for the sun to go behind my wind break trees. then the yard will be shaded..

I took a stinky egg out of the bator about an hour ago.. the smell is still lingering,, I am going to check, maybe there is another one.

there were 2 stinky eggs still in the bator. they had goo on them from the original stinky.. I washed them off and they seem OK. I have them marked and will check on them later...

Anyone raise broad breasted white turkeys?? Pointers at all?

I did , ONCE ..
they are disgusting pigs.
I had to butcher them both when their legs would no longer hold them up.. One was 18 pounds and the other was 20.

I guess I would say, don't cram them with feed. make them work for it.. I would take the same approach as if I were raising cornishX meaties.

BTW, I did not order those turkeys, they were sent by mistake.

Beaker is a good name.. It doesn't make any sense, but then, what's in a name ?

My tomatoes were doing better while I had them on the deck in their plastic cups.. I am not used to tomatoes not just taking off and growing after I transplant them..
The only thing I did differently this year was to use cow manure instead of chicken bedding..

I can still smell rotton egg. have to do the old sniff test again.
I think I know which eggs they are..

We got 1.5 inches of rain last night. They say we could get the same amount tonight. Got most of the downed tree cut up and hauled. I will have the hubby finish cutting it down tomorrow. As far as tomatoes go, mine are nuts. About a third are 5-6 feet tall. Already have nice sized tomatoes on them. I have one group and I haven't checked the tag that are quite short yet. They grow much more and they will have to grow back down to the ground, I'm out of post! Bean harvest is about to start so I will be up to my armpits in them soon. Gotta mow tomorrow too. Got all the sets off of my winter onions and the beds cleaned up so I can replant the sets. I love summer!! Night all.

Morning all, chickens chomping at the bit to get outside this morning. Since mulch finally got spread around the coop where I sprayed, we let them out for a few minutes last night. They were very happy and probably thought they would have a repeat this morning. Thinking maybe I will get a gauge for my bed garden, have to remember to pull it into the house this fall so it doesn't freeze like the last one. Kids were up and moving early too, maybe something to do with the rain that is on its way. Hoping after this round we will have a break for a stretch of days so I can go pick up some more dirt. Piled up the partial amount in the second bed so I could get the clearance tomatoes in, but still have these last few plants hanging around my front yard.
If I manage to fill a couple more quickly I may try to do a bean planting and hope for a later frost. Anyone ever bury those clay pots to fill with water in a bed? I am considering making a couple and trying them out, doesn't seem too difficult and pretty inexpensive to try. Silicone saucer onto the pot, bury pot to just below top (bottom) and fill with water. The soil is supposed to slowly draw the water out through osmosis and plants will eventually grow roots towards pot making watering more effective and lest waste through evaporation. We are on a well, so not like we have to pay a bill, just seems like a good way to do things.
Enough chatter, getting ready for work.
