Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Had to chase ANOTHER ****** raccoon out of the screen porch last night. This morning the live trap in the orchard had an occupant, don't know if it was the same one. At any rate, she's in Raccoon Heaven now with a snootful of vitamin 22.

Good thing my shiny new Ruger Mark III came with 2 magazines, because one of them was defective. Had me wondering how incompetent I was that I could not get a round into the chamber. Luckily, my young friend "the internet" informed me "it's not you, it's Mark". So I'll have a little chat with their customer service department later this week, as others have done before me.

I made hamburgers on the grill.. It is mandatory to grill food on the 4th of July, isn't it ?

after draining the water out of the carburator on the tiller, I went and tilled the row of beans. then as long as the corn patch was right there, I did that, too.
Then Annie came down to the garden and spotted the rows of corn in the second patch for me.. the weeds were plentiful in that patch..

Later on, I watered the tomatoes, some of the beans and some of the corn.. and some of the squash plants.. all I could reach with the hose. I should add another section of hose so I can reach the far end of the garden..

No Brent, I do not have my taters close to my maters ..
Do you think that is why you don't have bugs ?.

good morning,

bachelors know more about women than married men do.
If they didn't,
they would be married, too.

I added a length of hose and watered the whole garden last night. Now, that should make it rain..

today I think I will try to take Ollie and roll my manure pile over a bit.. gotta get it composted by fall.
besides, it is sort of spread out.. I want to compact it a little.

the Wausau / Marathon county called off their fireworks last night because of wind. it was only 5 to 10 MPH. I wonder what the real reason was. so does the local TV station. they said they were going to look into it..

How would you like it if you were one of those parents waiting for it to get dark and then they pull the rug out from under you?
try to explain that to the kids...

Good morning--last day of prep at the fair before they open the gates. We still have a lot to do. You would think that the fair employees would realize that it comes every year and that the perimeter fence we use needs power washing after being stored in a dusty building all year! They are washing it TODAY!

Well BigZ...those eggs hatch day was yesterday. Didnt hear a sound in there. I am hoping they will start talking today! I had an 80% hatch on my quail last week. They are all doing very well and have moved to the bigger brooder. I got some new birds from a friend of a friend and also a pack of 18 eggs she had sitting around. She has some neat colors and there is a cinnamon, a silver and a couple of whites in the mix. It will be nice not to keep sending folks away!
Now if the fox would quit eating my baby ducks! She was back again yesterday and DH had our dog chase it out over the bean field. Sure wish I wasnt on such a busy highway cause I could sure use a LGD! Border collies arent that good at guarding!

Man that new little boy sure is a cutie! I think it looks like he is taking a selfie in that pic. (sorry I dont remember who he belongs to--so many new names!) Also I am not here too often. Sure miss those lazy days at home...you might get sick of me this week.

Off to feed the masses and work in the garden again. It is looking so good this year. I see the beans are about an inch long and I have a few peppers and tomatoes on too. Pulled the last of the radishes last night and ate a 2" long carrot...delish! Had some peas too. I also picked a great salad to go along with our GRILLED (for Jim) CS ribs and GRILLED asparagus for the 4th picnic. Now the grilling police wont get me for noncompliance...because my oven isnt working I walked to 5 neighbors yesterday before I found an oven I could put my cornbread casserole in. Sheesh.

OK gotta go! Have a good one--TerriO

Nice July Morning...beats -10f any day! Mine always start to hatch after 21 days Terri...I expect yours to start soon. I know they aren't all duds.

Check the feed ramp on your mag mophead....sometimes a good polishing will clean it up, if it has a burr or flaw in the ramp from a sloppy manufacturing job.

Cut another 5 heads of broccoli today. I enjoy this time of year.

Don't know if that's the reason for no bugs Jim....sounds good to me though.

Wow it's been sooooo long since I was last on here, but glad to catch up on everyone's posts! We FINALLY got our first chickens. We ordered from Meyer Hatchery and got them on June 22. We ordered 2 each of Golden Laced Wyandotte, Buff Orpington, Delaware, Barred Rock, and 1 Splash Orpington, 1 Black Orpington. All arrived healthy and are starting to feather out. The kids love this adventure. We built a coop and used it from day 1 as a brooder as well. Hubby tinkers with electronics so I have a 24 hour "chicken cam" so I can see my babies at any time right from my phone. He also hooked up heat sensors on the heat lamp side and one on the cooler side of the coop that I can monitor on my phone. High tech chickens!

Jim-I was one of those parents who gathered my kids to go watch the Marathon Park fireworks and was disappointed when they cancelled last minute. Sounds fishy because it was super calm out. Oh well, not going to attempt to do that one again, it seems to be a common occurrence there.

I'll try to attach a picture from day 1 and recent of our babies!

yeah Duchess, it is cr ap like that tolls the death knell for gatherings llike that,, I will bet that next year many many people will not show up there.. that will mean a great deal of $$$ loss for the park..
I heard that the Chamber of Commerce will no longer sponsor
anything anymore..
The fair has been suffering and gradually going down hill for the past few years .
Poor decision making by the fair board..
