Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

good afternoon,
by 1 PM I was ready for a nap.. woke up about 2 PM.
It must be the weather, I ate lunch and feel like another nap.

I picked up 20 young hens today.. quite a mixture of breeds but all really nice looking birds..
they are in their first year of laying. just like the ones I have.

I didn't band any of them , like I planned.. since they are all the same age.. However, the new black ones and the ones I already had, all look alike. I didn't have any white ones before, so that wasn't an issue. and the turkens , well, I can pretty much pick them out alright..
Annie might have to knit some tiny turtle neck sweaters for them.

I was handed a winter project from Annie. a whole bunch of old American coins.. I looked a few of them up on the web.. I have a Kennedy half dollar circa 1964. lists at about $16.oo.. after that the silver content was cut way down.

I also have 3 pure silver 1 ounce coins. those are worth just whatever silver is worth, about $16.oo/ounce. that changes daily ..

If I find one worth a $ million dollar$ $ I won't talk to any of you again. LOL.

our old bedroom is almost ready for carpet shampooing .

Hi Noon,

the new chickens are doing fine,
collected 8 eggs so far today. that is about what we have been getting, I imagine the new hens will take a day or two to get settled in.. or maybe they are late-in-the-day layers..

good evening,

DD Barby and BF just showed up with a neck roast and two complete rib cages for me.

Guess who will be cutting up ribs tomorrow morning.
I don't dare cook any of my venison ribs for any deer hunter.
If they find out how tasty they are, they will start keeping the rib cages for themselves.

Bro Dave came today, and picked up my meat grinder. they got another buck at the end of the season. 4/5 .

there appears to be a lot of extra meat with the ribs, so I will probably have a few packages of hamburger to grind, too after Dave brings back the grinder...

I P'd off nephew Dan and he won't return my calls. so I guess I will bite the bullet and shovel out the coop myself.

I think Fri or Sat will be when that happens.

Still working on butchering deer. Making some headway. The rest will go faster as we do not cut and portion our steak meat. We package for roasts, stew meat and chunks that I can cut into steaks when thawed. The majority of the time will be spent prepping for canning. Tired tonight. And, my wrists hurt from using a knife so much. Ah well. Just a few to go now.
