Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I wish my neighbor would offer me lard. Great for pie crust! Almost time to start cranking out the cookies. Usually end up making 5 or 6 batches of sugar cookies and a batch of peanut butter blossoms (with the Hershey kisses in them). Still haven't smoked the turkey for the year. Hubby better get the d**m smoker fixed soon, OR ELSE. LOL

Annie's gramma used to live close to us. she would come here just before Christmas and make butter cookies with our 3 kids.
she would start with the regular recipe, and then if the kids were still interested in frosting and decorating them, she would add a little more flour and stretch out the batch,,
but, she often stretched out the batch so often, the last cookies were more like delicately shaped clay tiles..
It became a tradition that the kids still remember..

HI All!
Im fairly new here. Have had chickens for many years. Now I have 17 hens raised all organic on a 6 acre farmette. I am in Albany, WI. Green Co.
I will be adding to my flock in Spring.

Hope to learn a lot from everyone here!
Thanks

good afternoon,
by noon I had the carpet shampooed, and made a pan of dinner rolls.

even took a tea break with Annie.

chased a brown chicken into the coop, couldn't find the black one hiding in the garage. then a few minutes ago, Annie spotted another brown one in the chicken yard.
I don't know from where these chickens are coming from.
maybe they found out about the clean coop and fresh straw and are running away from the neighbors ??

Nice Packer win...keep em coming is a must....nice that your daughter attended a winning effort by the Pack bl4. Always more fun when they win!
Welcome to the cheeseheads DZI....always willing to help folks here from our point of view....LOL!
Been tossing wood in the basement at a regular pace...prolly 10 face cords down there now......that will last a while, but not even close to enough for the whole season.
Nice to receive my annual present from the county....gotta love the tax bill this time of year, eh!

good morning,

looks like everybody is hunkering down and waiting for the winter to come. and it IS coming.

I have no plans for today..
I will get bored later on and find something to do.

ETA:

will I never learn ?
Never tell your mother, or wife, that you are bored.
I ended up putting a bed together and bringing in a new mattress for it.
we are getting the spare bedroom ready for our next client in our adult care home.
as far as I can tell, it is ready, now. I might have to paint two walls, but that is a short job.

I bit the bullet and crawled to the front of my storage truck and retrieved 10 2'x2' ceilling tiles.
I decided I will fix all the missing tiles in the chicken coop.
there is a suspended ceiling in there. I had a moisture problem awhile back and some of the tiles turned to mush and fell out..
I think I have the moisture problem fixed ..

record egg count today. we went from a high of 10 up to 15 ..

if I had a cousin like you, she would be my favorite, too.

good morning,

quite cold out there..
I watched Zeke walk across the yard.. Nobody told him it is cold out. I guess it helps to have under wool like a sheep..
Frankie lays in her coop with her head hanging out the door.

today if it is not unbearably cold, I will take some measurements in the chicken coop for the ceiling tiles I have to cut.
I am debating if I will cut them in the shop (unheated) or in the house.

I wonder if the waterer froze up. after I have my cuppa, I will bundle up and go feed and water the birds.
I alternate two waterers. one is always ready to be filled.

the hose froze up on me a few days ago so it is disconnected and tucked under the deck for the duration.
