Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Working some overtime til about noon today. Then home to work outside. Looks gorgeous out. I need gas too for the mowers. I mowed my grass Thursday but it was so long there's clumps all over and it looks like arse so it's gonna get it again today!!

Actually getting some work on the coop extension done today!!! Went to town really early to pick up some more 2x6's and some steel. Pa then got one of the wall frames done and the steel cut for the roof while I got the tomatoes, cukes and some more herbs into the ground. Realized I am missing Swiss Chard and Kale yet. Weather supposed to be bad tomorrow so that might mean a roadtrip to the big city to the north to grab the last of the needed plants. Managed to hit a flea market yesterday and scored a nice NOS solid pine door for the coop remodel for $20. Made the DH very happy. It will easily convert to a high water Dutch door . Hope everyone is having a great weekend :hugs

Got my electric fence up. I touched it to check it and nothing happened....then I wrapped my hand around it and it pulsed....what a friggin jolt that was. I may have peed a little squirt. I'm awake now!
:clap Remember when I was still living on the farm, the time I made the mistake of grabbing the gate hook wrong and forgot I was standing in wet grass barefooted. The child with me couldn't stop laughing long enough to help their mother up off her butt.

I was a smart kid. We had electric fence on the horse pen and I would grab my dad and then the fence. Didn't bother me at all, hehehe.

Thanks to all for the goat condolences. The same people have several other kids we can choose from that are perfectly healthy. I think this little lady was laid on by her mom and just too weak to fight for her right to eat. May end up getting a/2 billy instead and wethering them. Milk can come later.

Got my garden all in. It is up and ready for a first weeding by tiller.

I have to water blast the inside of the pool today to shut the kids up and then maybe blast the house to clean it up. Already got the house work done and some weeding around the trees. I am full of energy on days like this.

it is a shame that days like this have to come to an end.
I got more accomplished in the past two days than all the rest of the 3 weeks before.

I filled the tank on the mower and did the whole lawn. excluding the area in the nut trees. too many dead branches on the ground.
black walnuts are worse than willow trees for dropping branches.

then I took Ollie and fixed the ruts I dug while trying to pick up that turkey porch.

anybody need bird cages ? I took a bunch of them and lined them up along the driveway. from small canary cages to large cockatiel cages..

Annie took pictures. IDK how they turned out.

ETA: the pictures didn't turn out too well. we needed a better back ground than the tractor bucket.
it rained pretty good here earlier this morning.
just enough to make it too wet to do anything in the garden. the sun is shining now.

I hear ya Jim. The past couple days have been so productive it's unbelievable. That sun sure has some power already. Last night was the pigs first night out of the garage. Went out at about 3am to check in them and they weren't even in their house. They were stacked on top of each other in a mud hole sleeping. Guess they'll go in the house when they're hungry enough

last night I turned the window AC on in our bedroom for about 15 minutes. Our room is on the West end of the house and it catches the afternoon sun. It was over 75F in there. I lowered it to 70F and then let the open window take over ..

mourning doves were calling at 4 AM.

pigs in a mud hole. can life get any better than that ??

Jus getting inside now. Watching some cartoons with the dogs. They love their cartoons for some odd reason.....anyways. What the hell is elmo? Don't judge me either! Lol

I just watched the last 77 laps of a race.
IDK who won. IDC either.

Annie found an elderberry bush in the blackberry patch along the driveway,
just a young one about 4 feet tall.
I mowed a circle around it. took out a few blackberries and some sort of lilies.
we can get along without them,.
then I got rained out. came into the house and the sun came back out.
took Ollie and pushed the burn pile into the ditch. worked up the dirt where it was a little bit and got rained out again.
I didn't go back out after that.

Elmo? who the hell is Elmo ?

chime in if you are going to the bash next weekend.
unless something comes up, I am.

If you can make it for only one day, make it Saturday. that is when the most excitement is.

What a nice couple of days!
Glad to hear everyone has been able to get some things done.
We were able to as well thankfully.
We let the chickens out of their coop for the first time to see how the dogs would behave. One of the dogs started trotting towards one of DH's chickens. He stepped between the dog and his chicken, gave the dog the look and the dog turned tail and ran the other way!
The chickens weren't too interested in leaving their coop either. About 1/2 of the chickens went maybe 10 ft out for a few minutes, then went back in.
They still aren't using the roost bars, but one of the leghorns is now flying up to a ledge on the door, so I'm hoping they all figure it out soon. Here's a pic of my brave girl!
